Random side note here . . . my wife and I went to see Lion King (the musical) here in Pittsburgh tonight for Valentine's Day. WOW.

Still in awe here . . .

Amazing, isn't it? It's the greatest live performance I've ever seen.

What a great way to spend Valentine's Day!

Depends... if the American Idol age restrictions are in place... then I'm out. Otherwise... FUN!

From what I read anyone can do it at Disney...if you are chosen the winner that day and are not in the Age Requirements for AI, you can give your "entry spot" to someone who can use it. Pretty nice!

Hey guys! Happy Valentines!

I watched these today and then just read all the chatter about ultimate Disney dream jobs.

So I thought I'd share...

Oh, yeah, those were good!! I esp liked seeing Elton since he was just written up recently on All Ears. BTW, if any of your are not members of All Ears, I HIGHLY recommend joining. They have a wonderful newsletter that comes out weekly and a host of background info on Disney (and some on the "other" FL parks!)

Oh, I so want to do this...LK is in town later this summer...was debating the ticket prices and cost of babysitter...

I have to say... I just went from really nervous and excited to really humbled by the opportunity. Thanks for the great link! The first one especially really got to me...

I thought these might be encouraging to you guys...yes, especially the first one! I have perfect confidence that you (and all the winners) will have absolutely NO problem finding great ways to make dreams come true for people! I was in awe that they get to do this everyday of their lives!

Oh, and by the way...
I had something happen today while driving that could have possibly made a lot of people very frustrated...but as I sat there, I laughed hearing in my head, "Party in the car! Party in the car!" Chalk that up to your family! :dancer:

Spend the money. Nothing you've seen in the Disney parks, including the wonderful Festival of the Lion King at AK, compares to the the stage show of the Lion King.

You HAVE to go see it. And if you can, spend the extra to get seats as close as you can. It's worth every penny.

Really? Where? (... at the Kennedy Center or at Wolf Trap?) That would be cool.

I hope your daughter gets well soon, btw. There definitely is a nasty flu bug that's making the rounds. My DD had it a few weeks ago. (She woke up puking one morning, then her temperature "Yo-Yo"ed up and down for about five days. I tried to get her a doctor's appointment, but the receptionist ("gate-keeper" ;) ) encouraged me to wait another day. They were packed with kids with even higher temperatures and worse symptoms... I thought it would never end. DD did eventually get better though, and the rest of our family escaped "unscathed." Hopefully, you'll stay well, too.)

Thanks for sending the link...now at least I know I wasn't making it up altogether!

I remember reading it too...or something similar.

My idea for a decorating a room would be to have a programmable Disney storybook theme. An interactive/virtual reality picture book room where you could be any character from any Disney story...see the story from the chosen character's perspective. Or something like that.:wizard:

As for crowd entertainment...I used to work as a MC/Game Leader for large corporation partys/picnics...so no problem getting the most reserved person in on the action. :cheer2:
Anyone else have ideas for rooms/rides/attractions?

Kennedy Center Opera House in DC, June 26 - Aug 24. Tickets are $36 for nosebleed section to $95 for box seats.

DD's 105 degree temp broke down to 101 degrees tonight!! Yeah!!!! Of course, now DH and I are starting to feel it...going to bed now. Thanks for the well-wishes - my fellow Mickey Mom!

Did anyone else get the Mickey Mom newsletter today from Disney Destinations??

Cool! ... About The Lion King and your DD's improved condition. (I'm sorry that you and your husband are getting "the ick," though. Maaan, it's awful to play "mommy" when you're feeling sick yourself... )

And, yep!, I received the newsletter. I haven't yet voted, though. I noticed (on the "Adventures of the 'Moms' Panel" thread) that you -- and others -- were having technical problems. Maybe I'll wait until Disney has addressed any issues before I give it a try...

'Hope you feel better in the morning!

Being hope makers and dream makers...this is what it's all about--making magic and passing it along!!! :wizard:

Kleenex warning!!!! (if you watch!)
Oh man.... I totally cried at the first one, Amy's, made my eyes well up.... that is what it is all about.

Marshay - two things I'm in Philly and a few years ago when I was in school at Temple I would have to make trips out to Eastern University to promote different events, what year did your DH graduate? Also I believe the Kennedy Center has some $25 seats for the Lion King...the catch is you have to goto the box office to buy them.

Fleagle - that's funny that on your trip you had to play temporary dream squaders because the same thing happened to us in World Showcase on my trip in December. We were dreamed as we got off the boat launch in the lagoon near Germany to grab a pretzel at the counter service and when we walked by the boat launch again 15 mins later at they were still handing out ears and insisted on giving us a second pair (especially Elton, those who have been dreamed at the World should recognize Elton he's just the biggest ball of energy you'll ever meet). So we ended up passing them forward while we waited for the monorail later that evening.

I think my dream park job would have to be the rope-dropper, it must be great fun in the morning as folks are lining up to get into the park, just seeing the faces of anticipation and being able to talk to them, help families create an 'attack plan' for their day and entertain folks as they wait for that rope to drop so they can "walk" quicker than they ever have before

Here's another link that echos some of the possible tasks disney.go.com/inside/mainattraction/080108/index.html - the other interesting tidbit in rereading this was one of the events not mentioned in the rules is the naturalization ceremony at Disneyland, WOW can you imagine taking your oath to be a citizen in a Disney park?

Wow! Good stuff! :thumbsup2

Yep, Dream Team “Magic Maker” would be a plum job, for sure! iwynlea’s Special Events Coordinator position and Marshay’s role of “behind-the-scenes” Tour Guide also really appeal to me. One thing is certain, though, the place is so huge, there are plenty of jobs to choose from… Does anyone know how many CMs Walt Disney World Resort (Florida) actually employs? :confused3

During my family’s last trip (right after Thanksgiving), I noticed a parade-float driver during “Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade.” (I’m not talking about the (overworked?) guys, who look like they’re pedaling furiously. This was an older gentleman behind the wheel of a truck.) He seemed so blissfully happy. He looked like he was having the time of his life jamming to the music while driving his truck! The guy was so spirited, I actually found myself videotaping him (instead of Mickey!!) for a few moments. Now there’s a man who loves his job! I’ve strongly suggested to my husband that we should “retire” in Florida one day. Someday, somehow, I will work for The Mouse… ;)

I graduated EU in '92 (DH was a LaTech grad).

OK, today will see what's available yet for LK again. It's just when I see spending almost $300 for tix and babysitter (not including a meal!), I convert that to almost an AP for a year at Disney! or nearly a week at a value resort! or DDP plan for one person for almost a week.

Thanks for the head's up on the $25 tickets...we haven't done the Kennedy Center yet except for a small concert, so I'm still trying to get used to the prices!

You and me both! I already warned DH the same thing...I don't like winter weather anyway, so we'll be moving south in our future, too...prob won't be until we retire...then it's either annual passes or get a job as a retiree in the parks!

Oh, and by the way...
I had something happen today while driving that could have possibly made a lot of people very frustrated...but as I sat there, I laughed hearing in my head, "Party in the car! Party in the car!" Chalk that up to your family! :dancer:

That makes me so happy! My wife read through my trip report the other night and just HOWLED at the Party In the Car post and the responses. The funny thing is that we have done that for so long, that it is just a part of what we do.

I think seeing it in print, and seeing others respond to it brought her back to how silly and fun the whole thing is. (You have to remember... she has to see me dance, so for her the "Party In the Car" experience is somewhat bittersweet. ;) )

My family hasn’t been “dreamed” in the Parks [yet!] ;) We have, however, been the recipients of quite a few “Magical Moments”:

-My DD5 befriended a CM in Epcot, who gifted her with a set of Tinkerbell trading pins (“One for You” and “One to Give”). Side note: DD immediately gave one to the first little girl she met. I probably would have spent a bit more time looking for someone who really looked like they needed a boost, but – hey! – she’s still new at this dream-making concept!

-We’ve had consistently good interactions with Mulan in China. During our last visit, she produced a little slip of paper, which she “autographed” (“Tag, You’re it! Mulan & Mushu”) and explained was part of an ongoing game of “tag” with the other Princess. They sometimes send little “hellos” to each other via visitors, who are working the Princess circuit along the World Showcase. Too cool! I’d never seen this before!

It's the little things, really:

-Lipstick prints on my DS’s face from various Princesses
-Front-car rides on the monorail (with a co-pilot’s license to boot!)
-Towel animals in our hotel room
-Friendly conversations with CMs and fellow travelers as we wait in lines
-Finding the perfect spot to view Wishes Nighttime Spectacular (and Tinkerbell’s flight)
-Finding the perfect spot to view Disney’s Dreams Come True parade
-Oh, and bottomless refills of Beverly at Club Cool in Epcot :scared1:

(Okay, that last one was definitely a joke!) For those of you who are new to the DISboards, here’s a link to a funny little thread that features Disney-goers’ “Beverly face.” (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1677921) Bwaaahahahaha! Too funny!

:rotfl2: Okay, you've made enough references to your dancing "skills" -- or lack thereof ;) -- that I'm beginning to think that maybe Disney should consider a "Dance-Off" as part of its reality-show-type contests for the Final Three. Now that would be entertaining! popcorn::
