Diser's for CMO!

Wow...this was tough to see this morning. But I guess I'll have to let it go now. Unfortunately I have a job with absolutely no magic or dream making involved. I guess I'll have to plan a trip to Disney to get my kick back!

Good luck to all those who made it. And for those of us who didn't...HEY at least we are still eligible to win that night in the castle or the DVC membership- maybe the CMO will give us a prize if we visit the parks!

My losing dream video...

I'm feeling pretty bummed, too. I never got to even see my video up, so that still kind of nagged at me, although, realistically,it wasn't in the league of the 7 that we know of--Congratulationsto you all, and enjoy the experience!

I'm going to make some banana stuffed french toast.

Well, I too must share my grief with you all, since most of my family thinks I'm nuts for being sad about not getting picked. I really tried to hit on all of the criteria for judging, and thought I did. It's made it a little harder too, that I've received many emails from total strangers telling me how much they liked my video, which gave me a very false confidence. On the flip side though, hearing from those stangers and sharing this with all of you was a wonderful experience. I'm guess I'm mostly bummed that it is over.

Good luck to the chosen 20!

I know some of the top 20 finalists have just joined the dis, but I was wondering if any veteran disers made the cut.

TLP, I agree with you that it does, indeed, stink. However, it is better to be eliminated right from the start than it is to spend ALL of your free time, for 3 straight weeks, voting non-stop only to have your dreams dashed. I know that feeling because I was a finalist for the Pirate dream job last year. I was in the top 5 for total views, but was not chosen as 1 of the 5 winners. It was fun to be a finalist, but it was also a TON of work not only voting myslef, but also trying to get others to vote for me. With CareerBulider's unrestricted voting policy, it is all about who has the larger social network...

That being said, it didn't stop me from entering this year's contest :)

This was my entry: http://www.dreamcmo.com/view-dream-cmo-applicant.php?CMODID=CMO-58E11A65CC7D041FF825D8C38BE76F31

Good Luck to ALL the finalists!!!

I have to say, Zulaya, I am sad too. Yes, the videos we have seen chosen so far are extremely professional. I too thought Disney might take into consideration that not everyone has access to professional quality editing skills. Apparently, that played a big part in what they were looking for, which was pretty disappointing.

Just remember, you can always spread the magic on your own. Send Disney notes to friends, bring home extra goodies from the park and give them to your neighbors kids, just remember we can all spread a little pixie dust on our own even without making the top 20!

I know this sounds odds jctimon, but I was actually encouraged to see that this got to you as well....

I went to work out and thought that I didn't really know if I could put myself through this again. Maybe it should have been more like the other contest where they narrowed it down to 100 first.

My children started my day saying that I have always been their CMO!

Still stings tons because I, too, struggle with the whole video effects and editing and promotional ability of several of the finalists.....my Disney spirit faded a teeny tiny bit this morning <<<<<< hate to admit that!

I've been searching for a thread like this for two weeks! I wasn't sure which forum it would be in and the boards wouldn't let me search CMO. Now I find it just in time to commiserate with everyone. I didn't get a call either. I'm so sad.

Congratulations to everyone who did!!

We non-winners are in great company! Today my heart is broken. For some reason I actually thought I had a chance to win this (and that just proves that I DO dream big). Like others, I had gotten comments from people I didn't know about how great my video was, and every one I do know just loved it.

This heartbreak will not keep me from trying next time an opportunity like this comes my way. My biggest dream is to one day be a cast member - kind of hard in Colorado.

And you know the saying: Misery loves company. I may be miserable right now, but I have all of you to spend my day with commiserating together, and the happiness we have for the selected few that were chosen.

Congrats again to those of you who got the call!

I haven't been to the site since entering the competition, mostly I was afraid of hearing the news I got today. None.

But I did want to congratulate all the candidates, but Trippy and Justin especially, I used both of your videos as inspiration. They were so creative and entertaining. I think you did an awesome job!!!

Good luck in the next round, and I look foward to voting in March!

Hey Disneyfalcon - I think we swapped compliments on another thread - but the thread kind of dwindled out.

It is good to commiserate with others since no one else around us really understands how bummed we are! I thought I would be just fine if I didn't move on - boy was I wrong!

Well, just when I needed a pick-me-up...I came home for lunch and in today's mail was my Mickey Monitor!:) I will be at WDW in 58 days! and just found out Peter Noone will be at the Flower Power concerts during our time frame!!!

I saw him there in 2006. He was/is my teen heart-throb!

Call it sour grapes if you want.... but I'm in the boat with a few other posters about special effects and computer enhancements. Some people, like myself, don't have access to or knowledge to do that kind of stuff. I still say though that from the videos that have come forward as finalists that it seems they already have an "image" in mind of how the CMO should look. I went into this competition with the attitude of "I don't have a chance".... :rotfl: So that way I'd just be a bit disappointed if I didn't make it. So now that the finalists have been notified, do we all still have to be nice Dis'ers and say "Your video was awesome!"... when really it was just awful? :rotfl:

I think the law of Thumper applies here.

"If you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say nohing at all"!;)

heehee-I guess i didn't remember it was called Tonga toast! Confession- I've never gotten to have it at the Poly-just read about it here on the DIS and decided to make some a couple of years ago; it's now one of our favorites. YUM!
And, yes, do join me. We need some pick-me-ups today.

You made me laugh yesterday with your Shenanigans line too!

I kept feeling the "sour grapes" today because I DON'T HAVE A PODCAST - I wasn't even sure until this morning what one was!

I don't do computer animation.

I don't work for a radio station.

I DO LOVE all things Disney. I skip down Main Street, just cause!

<<<<<< still haven't regained all of my Disney Magic Feelings yet. :confused3

LOVING that I found this board through all of this! Better than therapy!

How many of you got the Disney Insider email about Walt's Dreams coming true and so could yours..........and thought.........I WON!!!

My stomach flipped and everything!

I even came back this morning to look at the caller id screen to see if Centra Marketing had TRIED to call.

Honestly, knowing that you all are feeling similarly is REALLY COMFORTING!

Thanks....most sincerely,

Ann - The still current (but challenged :sad2: ) Disney Fan
