DISer chapter of NKOTB anonymous, part deux... we don't want an intervention!!!

When you met him at 5* or somewhere else? Why do you think he was miserable? (if you already talked about in the thread after it happened, sorry! I can't remember!)

He basically acted like he was barely tolerating everyone. He didn't really even hug anyone. Just stood there and let people hug him. He didn't hug back...it was like this one armed thing. He talked with someone the entire time so no one could even speak with him. It was just weird and I thought pretty rude. Basically I think he's MOODY!!!

Well, we all have bad days and can't be "on" ALL the time (literally!). I'm not making excuses for him. When I first met him (or even the second time) he wasn't extremely enthusiastic. He did give me a nice big hug both times (the second one was better) and he kept his arm around me and rubbed my back the entire time during the 5*, even when talking to other girls

I can understand you being upset if he acted really bothered by having to be there....I would be really upset! But, who knows what was going on with him...he's a person just like us, but has to deal with all of us all the time. Anyway, I'm not saying he's a saint. I definitely would agree that he gets a lot of pleasure out of saying jump and seeing everyone do it. But, mostly I think he genuinely loves his fans and loves what he does.

As far as Mark, I do think he's pretty hot, but like Karen, he doesn't do for me what Ddub does! I'll choose Donnie any day!

You are right he is human like the rest of us BUT when I pay what I paid for the pleasure of meeting him, I don't think it's too much to ask him to suck it up and be pleasant. I still like him but I think he has a huge ego.

I still love him and since that experience with 5* I did have another experience, we didn't speak but my friend and I were all alone in the hallway when the guys walked by and he stared at me the entire time they were walking towards us and even turned his head to keep staring, looking me straight in the eye and gave me that look that only Donnie can give. I remember it well, he drove me CRAZYYY he was so sexy!!! So, I don't want you to think I don't like him I was just disappointed in him when I met him. I had loved him forever and it was my one chance to meet him and it was such a let down! I still love him! (but I won't like BSB because he says so and I won't cheer on the Celtics just because he does.)

I agree with Melody that I do think he loves his fans but what I don't get is if he is going to be "off" a day then don't do it to the fans that paid to see him. Do it to the ones that track him down during down time! That's what bugs me the most! He seems to love when his devotees come find him but then is a bit standoffish to the ones that paid a premium? Just wrong! He also clearly has favorites even though he claims to "love us all" Really? Then why do the SAME ppl time and time again get backstage, breakfasts at Denny's, hotel after parties?? I don't care that he has his "circle." I get that. It bugs me that he comes across as we all matter but then we clearly don't!

Geez I'm quite annoyed over a virtual stranger this morning! Step away from Ddub for the day, Karen!

I don't dislike Donnie but I agree with Shelby, I do think he has a huge ego. And I don't think he is who he tries to portray. I think he's a bit of a phony. At the Foxwoods after party, I got a picture and a hug, and that was great but he didn't do anything. People paid money to see him and he got on stage for all of 2 minutes. He looked pissed off the whole time and seemed like he just didn't want to be there. And I heard at the NYC after party, fans who paid weren't allowed in because there was a dress code and he said he'd be out to hug them...at 2 am. The girls who stayed out there to wait for him are just plain dumb. I would've demanded my money back. And not for nothing, if your fans aren't being let in when they paid money, take the party elsewhere.

Hope everyone is doing well! Just a little crazy here. Wanted to jump on for a minute to say hi, though. 2 things:
As for BSB, I really can't stand them. I never liked them. The only other "boy band" I liked after NKOTB was *NSYNC, and I'm 90% certain it's because Justin and JC reminded (physically and vocally speaking, at first anyway) of Joey and Jordan. I can't imagine the two touring together. It would be insanity. BSB has a cruise too that sold out in minutes. So combining 2 , ahem, enthusiastic fan bases is bound to be disaster. LOL.

And Donnie, I agree, I think sometimes his love for his "soldiers" doesn't feel terribly genuine, but it doesn't really bother me. The only time I met him and he was somewhat standoffish was on the cruise, but I think it was a combo of seasickness and a hangover. That being said, for people who have experienced him under more normal circumstances, and he's been rude or whatever, I can't just let him off on the excuse that "we all have bad days." When I'm at work here at my job and I'm hating my boss that day or hating the people I'm auditing, I can't cop an attitude and get away with it...I'd lose my job. So for him, his job is to deal with being a public figure...being inconsiderate to the people that are paying you to do your job isn't good. Also, a side note, I'm TOTALLY not trying to bash Donnie, but it reminded me of a story. My dad has worked for a major hotel chain for 25 years, and it just so happens his hotel chain owns one of Donnie's favorite hotels when he comes to Boston. (I stayed there once and met his favorite concierge, lol. Dude was great. Totally reminded me of Tim Gunn, and tried to call Donnie's manager for us.) Anyways, he had booked a room there for a certain week and showed up there a week or two early. This was several years before the reunion. The hotel was sold out, and he DEMANDED a room. Went mental on the desk clerk, asked her, "Do you know who I am?! Do you?!", and stormed out of the hotel. I mean really, I understand being quite mad when you actually have a reservation, but when you show up with no reservation, berate a lowly desk clerk, and pull the, "Do you know who I am?" card, that's just poor taste. I saw the whole hotel ticket documenting the incident, lol. Still love him, but I don't think I buy into his sincerity as some of his other soldiers.

Anyways, ladies, hope you all have a fab day! I'm off work tomorrow so I might not be jumping on again til next week, if so, have a great weekend!

Donnie...well I think he loves his "power." I also think Donnie is a great businessman. If you allow fans to have access to you they are more willing to pay to come to events. Honestly, I have never been a fan of a band that was so open, but I don't fool myself into thinking it is purely all about making me happy. It is about them making money. In fact, I give them props for being such great businessmen! I met Donnie at HOB unexpectedly when he let us wait inside. Was I more likely to purchase several tickets to the Casino Tour? Absolutely! With them there is always the chance to meet them unexpectedly and it keeps me coming back for more!



I look at NKOTB like I look at Disney. Something that I love and makes me happy! But in the end they are both businesses trying to make money.

Yes! This is exactly how I look at it. Donnie is the Gene Simmons of NKOTB. Only Gene Simmons is completely upfront about what he is in it for: to put on one helluva show AND to make as much money as possible! Donnie seems to have the exact same thinking only he isn't at all as upfront about it. But I'm ok with it. I love that man. Do I think he is the God that A LOT of gals on twitter think? Not a chance. Am I going to like who he tells me to like (Jimmy Marsh, Roscoe, Celtics, BSB's)? No way. But he does still put a flutter in my tummy and a lump in my throat when I see him!

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a happy holiday weekend. I'm off starting this afternoon until next Tuesday. Hope everyone has something fun planned. I think I'll be trying to get to the beach a couple times.
