Hey ladies! I don't post too often lately....mostly lurk but I thought I would post a quick "concert report" from last night!
My friend Shelby and I left central NH around 9:30 am. In our area there was no snow at all! We stopped at
Walmart to get my toy for the Toys for Tots program. We drove almost an hour before the roads started to get bad. We stopped one more time at Walgreens so Shelby could pick a Neti Pot because she was so so congested! In all it took us almost 3.5 hours to make what is normally a 2 hour trip!. Not too bad!
We arrived around 12:30 and had lunch right next to the House of Blues at the Lansdowne Pub. There was only one man in line at the time. Our plan was to have lunch and then go back to the car, get our chairs, warm clothes and sleeping bags (to keep warm) and wait until 6pm. Then we would go one at a time back to the car, change and drop everything off. This is not what happened!
I almost didn't grab the tickets, but grabbed them at the last second thankfully! I had long johns on under my jeans but took them off in the car before we went out to wait in line because I figured I wouldn't need them! This will be important later!
Off we went with our winter boots, chairs, sleeping bags, multiple layers, hats and mittens. We sat outside for maybe 10 minutes when a man came out and said since it was so cold, as long as we promised to be good, he would let us come inside, use the bathroom and warm up....and maybe meet someone!
Well as you can imagine that was all it took for Shelby and I to ditch our chairs and sleeping bags. We put them against the building and decided that if they were there when we got back...great if not...oh well!
We went in the lobby and waited for a bit. I was casually chatting with DH on the phone and it happened! Donnie came out to greet us! You could have knocked me over with a feather!! We were a small group of about 40 so he stopped to hug each of us! All I could do was stare and whisper "thank you!" I was so star struck!! He started talking to someone behind me and put his arm around me! Oh man was I smitten! He even rubbed my back! Can you tell this was my first time meeting him? He was friendly with a lot of the girls. Some went on the party bus from Boston in November and most went to all three shows that weekend (NKOTB, Jimmy Marsh and Rob Lewis).
He went back and forth a few times after that. And each time I stared speechlessly! We kept debating about going back to the car because we had so much stuff and our toys and signs were in the car! I had two sweatshirts, a jacket, hat and gloves. We were nervous that if we went out they wouldn't let us back in! Coat check was $5 per item! Thankfully the girl we made friends with brought her toy in a reusable grocery bag. We managed to stuff our hats, gloves, jackets and one sweatshirt in the bag. We were able to coat check the whole thing for $5! But we ended up with no toys to give!
At this point HOB was really clueless as to what to do with us. Turns out it was Donnie who let us in, not HOB. At first they said we would have to go back outside and get at the end of the line. I think they sensed our growing anger since they ultimately let us stay inside until the doors opened. There were rumors that if you bought something from the HOB store and spent $15 then your receipt would get you in first. So when the store opened at 4 we all went in and bought merchandise!
They let the wristband people in first (they had eaten at HOB that morning or bought something in the store). Turns out they didn't do the receipt thing so I had a CD and a sticker that I didn't want now!
We ended up front row against the cat walk on the left side of the stage. Wow it was awesome! Jon sang step 5! Joey made it even though we weren't sure he would! New Edition sang two songs with the boys (Full Service and This One's for the Children). Jordan dressed up as Santa and danced while Donnie sang "Last Night I saw Santa Claus." Joe rocked his gold sequined jacket! They had snow fall! And there was some "mistletoe magic!" Mistletoe was thrown on the stage close to Jon so it was his turn to kiss someone. He picked a girl and man...they did some serious kissing! Then on Donnie's turn he turned and look at my friend and said "Nah, I'm going to go with something a little different" and chose a girl behind him. Darn! Joey kissed a girl on the cheek because he is married. Danny brought out his kids and kissed them and Jordan brought a girl on stage and danced with her but commented that he "didn't want a golf club over his head like Tiger Woods, so no kiss."
It was such a great time! I am glad to have finally gotten some face time with Donnie. Maybe next time I won't be suck a weirdo!
Happy Holidays everyone!
