We are taking the ferry to Vancouver Island after our Alaskan cruise this August.

Trying to decide which ferry to book - and wondering what time we can expect to disembark from the ship on that Monday morning?

Yesterday, we had early breakfast at 6:45 (late is 8AM I believe). Express walk-off started just after 7:30. We sat around until almost 8:30/8:45ish until they started calling luggage tags (we were in group 3). We were through customs, etc. by just before 9AM.

Thank you!!

Anyone know if you can just request express walk off?

You don't have to request it, you just keep your bags in your room and then gather in the lobby around 7-7:30 and walk off with all your stuff.

Make sure you keep track of ferry times, this season has been variable with suddenly cancelling times or filling up others. My uncle (lives on the Island) has been stuck overnight on the mainland and needed to get an emergency hotel when they cancelled their last sailing of the day. (Or he's had to drive to the north end of the island to catch an early morning ferry from the other terminal to make a dr's appt.)

Can you help me decide whether I can make a 10:15am ferry from Tsawwassen? (The 10am and 11am from Horseshoe Bay are sold out, which was my preferred departure point). Worried 10:15am is cutting it close - with Monday morning traffic? Thinking we’ll wait it out and hit the 12:45pm from horseshoe bay, and fill the time with a stop at the grocery store.

If you have a reservation you'll need to be at the terminal by 9:45. (Unless your walking on, but in that case you should be able to catch any of the sailings).
Generally you should have enough time to make it there. But it might be less stressful to just catch the 12:45 out of horseshoe bay in case things run behind.

Also, are you debarking on a holiday (August 1st or September 5th)? If so you will definitely need a ferry reservation.

Thank you all! You’ve been very helpful!

Not debarking on a holiday, thankfully - but was surprised to see my desired ferry booked up today! I booked the next latest one out and will arrive early to see if we can get on the earlier one.

Now I need to book a ferry from Vancouver Island back to the mainland, to drive down to SeaTac for our flight home!
