well today in biology we had to disect worms. i thought they be the little worms that are all dried up on the sidewalks after a hard storm. BOY WAS I WRONG. oh baby these things were like a foot long. i about threw up in that class about 5 times. they stunk too. i couldnt believe it when my teacher sat there playing witht hese dead white things in ehr hand. I AM SO SICK TO MY STOMACH RIGHT NOW.

im petriefied hahaha

and later on in the year i have to disect a giant grasshopper and a fetal baby pig. how sad and gross.

what have you disected? or what are you going to disect?

I've dissected a frog and a worm. There was talk of a shark too, but it never came to fruition. This was all in the 7th grade.

We dissected a fetal pig in 7th grade.

ETA: Ohh geez I would never be able to do the giant grasshopper. Bleecchh bugs FREAK me out.

in 7th grade i had a baby piglet!
it was actually really cool.
except my partner like, broke its lungs and liver all over the place.

I've done owl pellets, a frog, a worm, and I just did a fetal pig last semester for Anatomy and Physiology class.

Honestly, they don't bother me. I don't smell anything bad really. I have no problem with the entire thing in general. I do understand that it's not for everbody and anybody that doesn't want to do it (well, objects to it with a firm basis) should be given the opportunity to do a virtual alternative. However, I do believe there's no replacement for the real thing.

I am extremely jealous of a friend, though. She got to dissect a shark and a whale at an Advanced Studies program over the summer.

I dissected a worm in 6th grade.
Actually the guy at the museum did.
And i basically dry heaved xD

then we mummified them D:

it was cause king tut was at the museum
it was gross gross gross

Patti, I did the owl pellets too in 6th grade. You dissect things for A&P? Uh-oh.

I, personally, don't dissect things. I find it gross as all get out. I have the utmost respect for surgeons because I could never do their job. The thought of messing with someone's organs, or cutting their body open...BLECH!

I dissected a lot of things in 7th grade too. However, I find it interesting I didn't dissect anything in 9th grade honors biology.:confused3

I disected a frog in 7th grade. I actually thought it was kinda cool.

We dissected a sheep's heart, a frog and a worm. I didn't do any of the dissecting I just watched :lmao: . I thought I was going to throw up with the sheep heart and the teacher asked if I was ok. The frog I made the guy I sat with at my table do and I just wrote everything down. The worm smelled the worst out of all of them. That thing was nasty. We did all of that in 10th grade biology.

We dissected owl pellets in 7th grade.

My friend dissected a baby pig in her biology class. It was the more advanced biology for sophomores.

And, adding because I just remembered.

I've dissected two deer hearts. One for AP Biology and one for Anatomy.

I dissected a pig heart last year. It was for a project, so nobody else did it, and when I showed pics on a powerpoint everybody covered their eyes and one girl also puked.

And of course the worm today. It was really long. It didnt smell though. Cray fish next week, and at some point this semester I have to dissect a frog and a perch.

It doesnt bother me though. I want to be a surgeon so Im glad it doesnt.

you could say that my school is pretty poor. I have not dissected anything since 7th grade. It was only an owl pellet, though.

owl pellet, flower petal, and a frog.

you dissect a lot in a&p. like cats, pigs, birds, frogs, worms, etc.

i love dissecting. i made a puppet out of my frog in 10th grade bio.

We're going to be doing those soon.

We got split into 4 groups today and we had to decide which group was going to dissect each animal. I think they were a crayfish, an earth worm, a clam and something else that I can't remember atm.

My group is doing the Crayfish tho. Hopefully it won't end up being too gross. :headache:

In seventh grade we had to do a worm which no one but me in my group owuld even touch... and tenth we did a rat :scared: Well, im ok with dissecting things... I think its gross, but I can handle it. Fortunately, I had a cold and couldn't smell when we did the rat lol. It was yellow too... because of the stuff they have to soak it in to preserve it... it looked like pikachu, which made it kinda weird. Poor pikachu rats :(
