Discovery Cove

Im sure when i went in 2004 you wasnt allowed to take your own pics of you and the dolphins. Has that changed now?

You're not allowed cameras in the water but if you have a non swimmer they can get on the rocks between the pools to take pics or video, I have a 30 min video from our 2nd visit also.
I was so disapppointed with their pics on our 1st visit I decided to do photography 2nd visit, I am not that bothered about Dolphin swim anyway prefer rest of the park.

THanks for the pictures I am doing it, the kids will find out only when we get there on the morning of 12th!

I just booked a trip for my inlaw who are coming with us on our trip to Florida, I would like to go as well, but with a 2.5 year old and 10 month old I don't think we would get the most out of it so we will wait for a visit when they are older.

As the trip is a surprise for the inlaws (well they know they are going but not that their 5 boys are paying for it who knew that the elderly could work the internet and find out about these places eh? ) I am putting together a gift basket and have included, a $75.00 gift voucher to pay for any photos they want, an underwater camera, water shoes, tunic and some travel toiletries. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

I was really worried wether it was worth the cost when i booked 2 years ago - i didnt tell DH, as he thought it was extortunate! Anyway i booked, but decided to try and cut costs abit by booking us all as non swimmers and told him when we were there.

Anyway to cut a long story short - DH and DD (4 at the time) absolutely loved it! DH said it was the best day of our holiday, and i think its fantastic even if u dont do the dolphim swim.

Needless to say on our next years trip, DH has insisted that we are definately doing DC!! Not doing the Dolphins swim again though either, we were quite happy just having a look at the others for a couple of minutes., before moving on to the numerous other things you can do and swim with. Definately do it - its well worth it!!!

How old do children have to be?

Mine will be 6 & 5 when we to WDW next year - not sure whether to add this or not?

I think the youngest age you can do is 6.

My daughter was 7 when we went and although she could swim quite well going out into the 'deep' water worried her a bit (mind you she wasn't 100% well-just getting over a cold and was still coughing - which didn't help.

I've nearly persuaded DH to do again next year, the price is more reasonable with the ulitmate ticket (includes Busch Gardens & Seaworld which we're also planning to visit).

We've done it twice now, once without our DD and once with - last November and she was 6 and it was incredible. Just to see her little face. We are going back in 2010 and I worked out that just to get the SW, BG and Aquatica pass it would cost us about £220. Presently the dolphin swim DC ticket is £165 which includes all the above parks as well so for double the price we can swim with the dolphins again and it is definately worth it. I am going to book the Birthday package for my DD as we hope to go on her 9th birthday. I booked this for my DH back in 2003 and it was amazing. A really special day. How I'm looking at it is the holiday is going to cost us a small fortune. Between now and August 2010 what's another £250? £5 a week!!

If you're not confident about going into the deep water and treading water for a minute or two they will let you do a shallow water swim instead where you stay in the shallow part of the pool. My DD who was 10 is a good swimmer but was a bit unsure of treading water so she was given this option of doing it from the shallows. However, the lady who swam out with us to do the swim allowed DD to hang onto her while she trod water.

I did it booked for 13th August 3 dolphin swims and 2 non dolphin swims now to keep it secret from the 3 monsters!
