Has anyone done Discovery Cove while at Disney? We have thought about doing it before but we hate leaving the Magic at Disney. We always stay in the park with full stay hopper passes--which we use completely!

Is it worth it to give up a day ? --we are going for a week----Plus, Discovery Cove is expensive for the 4 of us. We would have to take a taxi too. What do you think?:goodvibes

I am hoping to do Discovery Cove on our next visit so would love the same info...ta

Go over to the Seaworld/Discovery Cove forum on the Dis and read the stickies....

I just saw a Travel Channel Special on Sea World, that had a segment on Discovery Cove, OHHHHHHHH WOW, may I say!

Discovery Cove only Let's in a 1000, people a day. And it is ALL INCLUSIVE, so are your meals, beverages, gear, parking, and a 7-day pass to either Sea World Orlando or Busch Gardens Africa at Tampa Bay, are included.

It has 2 swim pools, one with sting rays that you swim over, and a coral reef snorkel with lots of different fish to see and a shark swim too. It has 3 lazy rivers to float with great scenery. And then 7 people at a time are invited in to the Dolphin pool where you are taught about the Dolphin behaviors and the signs to cause them. Then each person has 1 swim with the dolphin. And the place is gorgeously beautiful!!

We have been to Discovery Cove twice while staying on Disney (in 2004 and 2006) - Like you I didn't like the thought of leaving the magic for a whole day, but DC is blissfull. It is well worth a visit, the dolphin swim is amazing and the rest of the day is luxurious. I felt really rejuvanated and ready for more adventure after my day of relaxation :cloud9: - I enjoyed the magic more because I felt like I had a total chill out day. It's a truely wonderful day and I memory I treasure - can't recommend it highly enough!

Oh my what great responses!! I can't believe I never saw the Sea World/ Discovery Cove forum at the bottom. I am always on all the others.:rotfl2: That was great information. It looks like we may just have to leave the Magic to experience Discovery Cove this August. I am really the only one who is afraid to give up a day at Disney. I love the Magic--plus I am the budget person :thumbsup2

Looks like the best thing to do is take the bus...... thanks for all the help.

Did it last year and doing again this year. Your price includes all swim experiences based on what you pick dolphin or not (dolphin encounter costs more), parking, welcome photo, locker, towels, vest or wetsuit, snorkle (you keep), mask, breakfast, lunch, drinks (including beer) and snacks all day, lounge some with umbrella, aviary (very small), some demonstrations with animals, your 7 day pass to SW or BG.....and yes only 1000 although when we went I bet there were no more than 250.

Swim experience:
-Dolphin pool area for that only
-Coral reef swim area which is fairly large and includes seeing sharks through glass in the middle (cold water)
-Sting Ray pool where you must walk (about 3 ft) and have gentle interaction, guides are there as well as photographers (cold water)
-"resort" pool which is fish free and warm
-and it connects with the lazy river, only one river, but it is very long moves quickly, under waterfalls, is deep at spots and you may borrow a noodle or swim on your own. No tubes.

This is great to hear. I just got my tickets for our trip in November. I am convinced it will be well worth the money!!

We went in 2003 and it was worth every penny! We took 2 of the DGK's and it was definitely a trip they and my DH will treasure forever. I still get a laugh when I look at the pics of my DH kissing the dolphin. The trip to Discovery Cove was priceless!!!!:) If I ever hit the lottery I will take the whole family!!

Have booked up for our 3rd visit. F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C !!!!!!!!
A great 'chill out' day to recharged the batteries before your next visit to the parks. The snorkelling is great, but beware, the swim area with the fish and rays......water is COLD !!!. Food is great and the whole park is spotlessly clean. O.K. is is expensive, but certainly a day you will never forget !!!!

Our family of four went in March of this year and it was beyond a doubt the highlight of our trip! We stayed at Emerald Island resort for two weeks and split our time between WDW and US/IOA, with a day at Discovery Cove and a day at Sea World.

We all just loved Discovery Cove, and even though it wasn't cheap, it was well worth the expense and left us with such wonderful memories. It truly is like a tropical paradise. Our girls still frequently talk about "their" dolphin, Diego, and we have watched the DVD of our dolphin swim many times. Can't recommend it highly enough....

Number one! Its NEVER croweded. A maximum of 1000 people are allowed in the park per day.

You cant swim and interact with Dolphins like this anywhere outside a controlled enviroment.

I had so much fun in the Aviary (sp?) I had at one point 5 birds on my arm.

The service is friendly and you can be LAZY

Definately not a waste of a day!

Diego is awesome! and a sweetheart! He has always been one of the most popular Dolphins at Discovery Cove!

My son and I did Discovery Cove in 2003. It was the most fun we have ever had together. He still talks about it.
Obviously swimming with the dolphins was a huge part of the day, but the snorkeling in the large lagoon was a blast! Feeding the birds in the aviary was also a highlight of the day. I don't know that I would spend the money to do it again, but I am really glad we did it once. :flower3:

I just called the phone number today and got a ressie for DC on July 13th. I took a chance calling as the website had shown NO availabilities for the month of July...not one day, but I figured what the heck, nothing ventured nothing gained right? I am so excited about doing this. I had already arranged WDW Epcots' Dolphins in Depth but then heard about DC...surprised no one is really mentioning the other version Evening Experience called Twilight Discovery...this includes awesome sounding dinner choices but even better than that DC is only open to 150 people for that I am doing this one :yay:
