What are they made of?

My wife has a latex allergy and wouldn't be able to wear one if they are made of that.

Thanks,

Mike.

Hey There they are made of rubber :) don't worry my boyfriend went last year and he asked as he doesn't like latex :) hope this helped!

Didn't bother with wetsuits, just a swimming costume and life jacket when we went. Couldn't be bothered

The neoprene in the wetsuits and swim vests does have a little latex in it. I saw people wearing t-shirts under their swim vests so if she has a severe allergy that would probably work out best. Or even for a light allergy since she'll probably wear it all day.

I would call DC directly, perhaps choose the option for if you have left something at the park to get a hold of a person at the park.

Latex allergies can be serious and can cause anaphalaxis - and even if they haven't before, they could in the future. People's sensitivity seems to change.

One of the pp suggested just the life vest, but I think the regular DC vests they ask you to wear are made of the same material, although maybe they would be OK if you wore the actual bulbous life vests - although that might not be comfortable for the whole day. Also, the wet suits are really nice if it is not super hot. You will spend most of your day in the water with the animals (tropical reef, stingray lagoon, dolphin cove) and the water is chilly for the health of the animals. We were glad for the short suits and still needed to periodically warm up in the lazy river. We were there in April.

I can't say what the vest and wetsuits are made of. We've been there twice, both times in Sept. Once in 2006 and last year. We basically wore the vests, however, last year, after the biggest storm I have every seen hit DC (and we've been to WDW about 10 times in Sept.) and after everyone was restricted to be under cover, and after the rain left, they reopened some of the areas. My DD11 and I decided to head back to the Coral Reef. Since the water is pretty cold and it wasn't hot out, we decided on wearing the wetsuits. They were great-kept us much warmer and since it wasn't hot and sunny out we didn't get hot walking around.

The park did close early that day however, the storm came back!
