I was checking this thread yesterday for info for my DSis and her DH who are going in May to WDW and area for their anniversary. I have convinced them to go to Discovery Cove. We've been twice and loved it both times! :goodvibes Only bummer, for them, is that they are going to be there too soon to experience the new Grand Reef area. Oh well, maybe they'll have to go back in 5 or 10 years.

Anyway I was reading one thread about the change in the breakfast now being offered. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, etc. Wow, that is a welcome change since my only complaint last Sept. was the change in some of the food at DC inc. breakfast. Breakfast was a disappointment. Yes, I knew it was a continental breakfast but the danish they served in Sept. was pretty bad. I love danish and we threw away all of ours. We weren't the only ones either.

I sent a question to DC late yesterday and already got back a reply. I asked what time the beaches and breakfast opens ( we should have gotten there sooner last year) and here's what I heard back:

Dear T*

Thank you for contacting Discovery Cove. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Our normal park hours are 9:00 am to 5:30 pm; however, we recommend that guests check in between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. To do so we recommend bringing the reservation/order number and photo ID for each guest aged 21 years or older.

The Continental Breakfast starts at 8:00 am, and it consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast sticks, potatoes, biscuits, and a variety of individually packaged cereal, croissants, juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Thank you for your interest in Discovery Cove and we look forward to having you visit us in the near future again. We hope your sister and her husband can have a great time here with us.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions.

Best Regards,

V* R*

So this is great news for those of you going. Get there early, book your dolphin experience, have an early, hot, breakfast and have a wonderful day! (Wish I was going too!)

Also, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email DC, they answer quickly. I sent them a question last year and they were just as quick with their reply.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a soft opening in May for you :) We have heard rumors of the opening being the weekend of the 10th and the prices kinda make that seem to be the case too. As soon as that rumor went out the prices for FL Residents went away starting that week. We are going to be there the 5th of June and I would love to be able to see the new area, if not then that will give me an excuse to have to come back. I would love to be able to do that underwater walking experience :)

The pictures you have posted in both threads look great! Makes me so excited to bring DD 8 there this June.

I would be surprised if they open it up as early as May 10th but that would be great for my DSis. (And then I would really be envious!) I did check the prices for their week (5-14 to 5-21) and the price (for the non-dolphin experience) is still $139. I am going to tell her to book it asap just in case the prices change.

Thannks for the compliments on my pix. Looking at them just makes me want to go back again! ;)

Last year we got such a great deal! So much cheaper than when we went in 2007. I don't think that will happen again this year with the Grand Reef opening.;) In 2010 we paid $149 for Dolphin experience and $79 for non-dolphin. :goodvibes In 2007 we paid $279 for Dolphin (got back $50 from AmEx so net was $229) and $179 for non-dolphin. Both deals were utilizing an American Express promo code. So in 2007 we paid $517 for the 3 of us (1 non-dolphin) and last year only $377! A savings of $140. The only reason we went last year was because I got such a great deal. I'm thinking we'll have to wait a few years to get such a great deal again.

Your DD8 will love it! Mine was also 8 the first time we went (just turned a few days before) and 11 last year. As you can see by the expression on her face, she loved it! :)
