has anyone done DC in March? I was curious as to how cold it is for the dolphin swim before I book. Also, how far in advance do we need to book?

Hi ,

We went in March 2005 and are planning a return to DC next year also as part of our holiday.
To be honest the weather in March is very unpredictable, our swim last time was delayed by a lengthy thunderstorm and in addition it was cool too and the water very cold.

If you are planning on going around Easter time I would book as soon as you can.

I went to DC in March of this year. It just so happened to be the coldest day of the entire trip that day. For a good chunk of the day, until afternoon, the water was warmer than the air temp! Crazy huh? It wasn't bad though. You'll enjoy it. Don't worry about the weather, no matter what ,it will be a day you won't forget!

We went mid May. It was about 75 degrees outside but the water temp is quite cool (with the exception of the lazy river). We found it to be on the edge of comfort...if you are normally a cold person, I wouldn't do it. We are both hot blooded...we keep the heat on 66 in the winter and the a/c on 68 in the summer!! So take it for what it's worth. It was a fantastic experience!! I want to go back again...but I would do it when it will for sure be warm. If you can only go in March and can handle cooler weather...go for it.
