To chris1gill - How did you find a car dealer who would let you charge your car purchase? We bought a new car last month and they wouldn't let me charge it. They said everyone asks but the dealers won't do it because of the fees they have to pay.
To debi - The credit limit you are given on any card is partly based on your income and partly on your credit score. Be careful if you cancel any existing credit cards. Credit score is based partly on how long you've had the account - the longer the better. So if you cancel an old account to keep a newer one, that can actually lower your credit score, even though you've reduced your potential credit.
As for credit limits, it seems like our card issuer raises our limits a couple of times a year even though we never charge anywhere close to the limit. Our 2 main cards are a Marriott Visa and an AOL Visa. One has a $25,000 limit and the other has $27,500. We'd never come anywhere near using those limits but they keep raising them anyway.
We've only had our Marriott card since June but we've already earned enough points for 6 nites at a category 1 hotel. I'm figuring that by next year, we'll be able to go to WDW on points at the Residence Inn or SpringHill Suites in Lake Buena Vista.
