Do they still do this on the Magic? I remember reading something a few months ago about them discontinuing it. My kids did it last February, and were looking forward to doing it again next February.

They still have the show, just different name. The shirts are also different, much nicer. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but is themed like a graduation with black Mickey ears made to look like a graduation cap. The show is the same, pictures of the clubs during the cruise and a visit from Mickey.

Cool! I'm not telling DD! Next Feb will be her 4th Disney cruise and she thinks she knows it all!!

I am hoping our kids will be surprised to. After 6 tryips on he Magic they think they can run the show>LOL I am glad they are getting different shrts too.It souns like a cute Idea

The logo is cute...very collegiate looking....the name is Disney Sea University graduation show.

Are these hats the official Mouse Ears hats you get at the parks or are they more of a decorative hat that was not meant to last very long?

Thanks,
Tink

They looked like good quality MM ears with a graduation cap!! Very cute!!

Oh, that sounds great! Maybe I can hold off buying the mouse ears cap at WDW then. :)

Does anyone know if they switched to this on the Wonder? I know on our 9/9 cruise we were informed that that was the last show they were performing but they didn't say if they were replacing it with a differant show.

hi
can anyone tell me what is Discover the Magic (children's show) ?

sounds like fun for the kids:sunny:

On the Magic its at 5:00 Friday in the WDT. The kids have their T-shirts and mouse ears caps on and they march down the aisle up to the stage. After the kids are on the stage videos are shown on two large screens on either side of the stage. The pictures are from the kids in the clubs and CC for the entire week. Then Mickey comes on stage and sings a song with the kids telling everyone what a great time was had by all. Then the kids march off the stage, also to music. The whole show takes about 30 minutes, counting the entrance and exit.

The Wonder has the new kids show too....

One thing about the ears though.... :earsboy:

I didn't feel they were durable enough to make it home in our bags. (they didn't fold flat) My daughter ended up wearing her hat home.

Other children were wearing them in the airport so I'm guessing their parents had the same concerns.

And I must be the hugest baby but seeing my little man up there with all the other kiddos had me in happy tears the whole time. I will seriously take 1/2 box of kleenex in there next time. I know it's so lame but I just couldn't help myself. Like the culmination of such a fantastic journey and now it's almost over. I also cry walking down main street in the morning at first view of the castle. I have to hide behind shades because DH and DD tease me!

Oh goody!!! Grandkis participated in the "Discover the Magic" show on the 9/2/04 Wonder ... we'll be sailing on the Wonder again in 12/05 and they can do the new show.

I don't think that crying at the show is lame at all!!! Of course, DH taped it all and I tear up every time the kids watch it. :)

If you're lame, I'm doubly lame because reading that brought tears to my eyes and both times I saw the show w/my kids in it, I was blubbering. I'm a mess!

It's an ADORABLE show and watching the little ones at the end when Mr. Mouse comes out and sings with them is SO sweet.

Do they still sing "it's a small world when they come marching in?" Gets me every time (insert tear-flowing smilie here)

Can children still be in it if they don 't spend much time in the clubs? When do they practice?

:) thanks

The practice for the show starts at 3:30 or 4 in the club. I think they can only be in the show if they are in that practice (or at least checked into the club before they go the the WDT), but it's not like they have to have a 90% attendance record through the week to be in the show.

Also, the show is called "Celebrate the Journey".

Finally, if you were planning on "mouse ears" for your kids from WDW, I'd get them as the graduation cap with ears isn't at all like mouse ears.

Thanks for all the info on the mouse ears caps. :)

chrisn, I got choked up just reading markey's post about the show. I will most likely be a basket case for the real thing, seeing my DGS up there.

The Club and Lab open at 4:00 after the day at Castaway Cay (or earlier if CC is rained out). There is not a lot to practice; the main thing is they have to walk the kids to the Walt Disney Theatre by 5:00 pm. Over 700 kids takes some time. I would guess the latest you want them there is 4:30.

Different age groups enter from different areas. 8-9 came down the aisles from the back, then exited via backstage. 5-7 entered from the side door on deck 3 by the front of the stage. Both DD's liked going to the areas which they normally are not allowed.

After the show, there could be a bit of a scramble to get kids by main seating, so you may want to have the kids dressed for dinner when the participate in the show. 8-9 was quick. 5-7 had a lengthy line.

Final word of warning. All kids are wearing the graduation cap mouse ears and the same t-shirt. It is easy to lose your kid once they get on the stage (if trying to videotape).
