Discover Apple Pay 10% Back - In Store Purchase

I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to spend $10K at BJ's before year end without buying gift cards (and without buying a bunch of junk I don't need). I'm not in love with the resale idea. Thoughts?

Spoke with a Discover agent Friday late afternoon. I specifically asked if I could buy my AP at the Disney store in person using apple pay and get the 10%. He said yes. I then asked how a $750 transaction would not be flagged as a gift card/possible gift card. He told me all gift card purchases come through marked as gift cards.

Not sure I believe that as some folks are reporting that large purchases are being flagged, even when they did not contain a gift card. Who knows. Perhaps it varies by merchant.

I am back from my trip. I was able to use apple pay with discover at guest services at the MK for my TIW card and a to purchase tickets. I was also able to use is for counter service meals at all of the parks, but not for any table service meals. I used it for all of my purchases at every store I shopped in on property. I didn't charge to my room, so I didn't try to use it at the resort to pay room charges, so I don't know if that works or not. For the table service meals, I used gift cards to pay.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going tomorrow and am going to try to pay my room charges with it. Not optimistic...

Good luck! I won't be back before the end of the year. But, even without the discover promotion, I will still use apple pay in the future. It is very convenient. Once I got used to it, I liked using it.

Nothing interesting to report. Couldn't use it at any table service restaurants. Didn't get a chance to try to pay room charges with it. We stayed at MK until the last minute and had to race to catch ME back to the airport. I just let it get charged to my card on file.

We are here now and have been able to pay off our room balance when we arrived(we didn't do a package) and our first two days of room charges with Apple pay at the front desk! I am beyond thrilled. We are at the contemporary in case that matters.

Edit we are using discover Apple pay

That is awesome for you! We are DVC members and our first two days we were at BLT but I used apple pay in MK and didn't have anything charged to the room.

We just got back and used apple pay everywhere we could. We were not table at table service or the stores in the China and Japan pavilions (their food places were ok).

One thing to note is some CM don't know what to do. They need to hit that it is credit before you tap. Also, for those were you tap a machine and not the mickey head, I found I needed to tap the screen portion of the machine.

So my statement closed yesterday, and *some* of the 10% bonus showed up.

My statement closes on the 5th of the month. On the 11/5 statement, I got 10% back for the first 3 (9/17-9/22) charges I made on Discover with Apple Pay. The next 3 (9/27-9/29) much larger charges apparently will be on my next statement.
So I got my next statement today, and got *some* of the 10% bonus again. The bonus adds up correctly for charges from 9/23 through 10/20, but I had transactions on 10/21 and 10/23 that apparently were after the cut-off.

So it looks like I'm getting paid what I'm expecting, but the schedule does not line up with statement closing dates, and they apparently moved the reward closing date from the 22nd of the month to something earlier.

Just went to the Disney Store and they said stores don't sell APs anymore, only regular park tickets. Is there any other way for me to use the ApplePay 10% cashback to get APs today?
Thanks!

Got the next statement today, and things are a little strange again. I was paid for transactions from 10/21 though 11/30, so considerably more than 30 days! :headache:

I have yet to have ANY of my 10% apple pay paid yet. I have a statement cutting on the 9th, so hopefully they will show up there. I have called Discover twice over the last couple of months and they insist the cashback is coming.

I signed up with Discover for this promotion. My first purchase with ApplePay was 10/2 and my first statement was 10/27. No ApplePay. My 2nd statement was 11/27 and included ApplePay through 10/2 but not 10/7. My 3rd statement was 12/27 and included ApplePay though 11/23 (but I did not have any ApplePay purchases 11/24-11/30). So, they were super slow at first, and then got them to within about a month. I had 1 flagged transaction from 10/9 that I was e-mailed about on 11/24 and they did not give me a courtesy credit. I have not received any other flagging notifications.

How are you able to figure out which of your purchases have received the 10%? I have other charges that earned either the 1% or the 5%, but nothing seems to really foot correctly.

I tracked all my charges separately, and it was within about $.20 of the purchases to that date. If you look in "reward details" it will show how much of the cashback is for 5%, 1% and discover deals and promotions (which specifies what is ApplePay and what is discover deals, etc).

The amount of the 10% bonus is available on your activity tab. See here, circled in red:

I then put my statement into a spreadsheet and did a little spreadsheet work pulling out the Apple Pay charges. It took me a while a the first time I did this, but eventually I've gotten the numbers to foot perfectly using a running total. What has changed each time is when they set a cut-off for including the reward in my current statement.
