We're stuck in an airport with major delays. Our flight has been pushed to after 6, with the last possible connecting flight to LAX a little after 9 in Houston. Looks like we will barely make it. Means we will get to LAX around midnight, still have to pick up our rental car and get to the hotel. We were going to use Magic Morning tomorrow. We have a breakfast ressie, and then WOC dinner ressie tomorrow night. Trying to think positively about how tomorrow will go, but I'm having trouble at this point. Not the airline's fault...the weather caused the delay.

Anyone ever get into a hotel after midnight and then turn around to do a full day? With a 2 year old?

Thanks for all of your advice...I'm hoping we're going to be able to use it. :headache:

So sorry to hear about your delay. Will your 2 year old sleep on the plane? I think you could do it for MM and breakfast. I always have so much adrenaline the first morning at Disney that I don't get much sleep the night before anyway. Will it be possible to take a break around lunch for a nap before your WOC dinner?

Try to call the hotel and explain your situation. Some hotels charge late arrival fees or my surrender your room because they think you aren't coming.

Sorry to hear about your rocky start. I hope your stay makes up for it.

We had a trip in Nov of 2007 where our flight was delayed and after everything (getting the car, driving to Anaheim from LAX and checking into hotel) it was close to 1 am. My kids at that point were 2 1/2 and 6.

We did MM the next morning and everything and managed to make it work- we all came back for a mid day break and took a short nap which helped everyone. Oddly my 2 yr old was the LEAST affected by the lack of sleep. She pretty much just went with the flow the entire time. The rest of us were the ones tired!

We're at GSP. The delay is from Chicago where they had extremely bad storms earlier this afternoon. Our 1 pm flight is now 620, and that will still be pushing it. DH just told me it's now 635 instead, which will really be pushing it.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm hoping DH will sleep on the plane. We're going to eat dinner now, and hopefully that will put us all in a better mood. I'm still pushing for MM as normal. It will all be up to DH.

Think happy thoughts...think happy thoughts.

Get up and do the MM and breakfast ressie and maybe even a few rides. DL has a way of putting a little skip in your step. Then come back and take an late morning or stay later and take a mid afternoon nap.

You'll have a much better experience that way as you won't be fighting through the most crowded part of the day and can last through the evening.

I've long recommended that people take the afternoon off in order to get the most out of the nightlife experience of DL. The park just feels different at night (for me anyway).

I second this. Please make sure you call your hotel. Some do give up your room if you haven't checked in by a certain time (or at least told them you'll be late).

We will be doing this this trip. We won't arrive to the hotel til around 12 or 1am depending on how terrible the I5 is. So can't be of much help. I would say the time change will be on your side. And that a 2yr old can sometimes be better than an older child so maybe that is a blessing. Trying to get my 10 year old up after only 5 hrs sleep is gonna be a hassle. Good luck...and have a great trip!

You can also change or move your breakfast reservation. There is no fee or anything to change if another slot the next day is open.

We also had a travel delay due to weather the last time we went to DL, but rather than get in late we slept on the cold, dirty floor in the airport after all the flights were cancelled. So we missed an entire evening at the park and a night in the hotel, plus the entire next day. But all of that is forgotten once you get in the park. AHHHHhhhh....
So, just breathe and remember it will all turn out great!

I would go do MM, eat breakfast, then go back to the hotel for naps if need be. Then go back to the park in the afternoon and for your dinner res.

If you have time to look at the board while you are gone-- I hope you are getting to Calif right about now. It is 11:57 pm. I hope for you a wonderful vacation. I am sure it is a pain to have vacation start off with a delay. Take lots of time to rest up the parks will still be there later.
