Discounts over Christmas

Do the annual pass discounts or any of the discounts really extend out over Christmas day? I see they usually end the 22nd, 23rd or 24th. But if you book say starting on the 23rd does anyone know if they have historically been able to book the rate out to say the 26th or 27th?

If not, can you book one reservation using a discount and just pay rack rate for the last few days? or do you have to have two reservations to take advantage of the couple of discounted days? I think I should know the answer to this

No, room only discounts would end on the last day of the promotion. You would have one reservation and only the days within the promotion would be discounted. Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

As the pp said, RO discounts are date specific and do not extend through the entire trip unless all of the dates are included in the promo. Free dining is the only discount that I know of that extends through if you check in on the last day it's offered. If not all of your dates are included in the RO discount, you would have one reservation if your check in date is during the promo dates, with any remaining days at rack rate that aren't included in the promo. Two reservations would be necessary if your check in date is prior to the start of a promo.

okay I understand. thats what i thought regarding the discount extending out but I did think I'd have to have two reservations so thats something. I think we'll probably just come home after our akv stay but I'm tempted to leave akv and check in at the contemporary and stay over christmas

We have been during the last 2 weeks of December several times over the years. I will tell you pack for everything. We have in the same trip laid in the sun and just about froze to death. December of 2012 we actually took hand/toe warmers and used them at the MVMCP. The humidity was real high so it just felt colder than usual. That same trip we had t shirts on NYE at Epcot. Just take lots of layers. We are usually happy in long pants, short sleeve shirt, zip jacket we can tie around when the sun comes out and thin magic gloves just to knock the chill off. Weather in December is very unpredictable. As the pp, I'd pack a little of everything. We have been twice in December and during our first trip (2003), the weather was warm on our arrival day (we were able to swim), but then the temps plummeted and not only did we have to buy coats and gloves to keep warm, the pool was closed for the rest of our stay due to the cold temps. On our last December trip (2010), the weather was warm enough for swimming 3-4 days and while it got chilly at night, it was not near as cold as our previous December trip. With all of that said, December is a great time to go as everything is beautifully decorated for the holidays and there are so many festivities that even if the weather isn't the best, it's still an amazing time to go .
