Discounts if you book while onboard?

I've heard that you can get great discounts if you book your next cruise while still onboard. Does anyone know how substantial these are (i.e., how much more off is it than the regular early booking discount)? I'm sure it varies from season to season, but does anyone know generally?

We're going on the 4 day soon (DH's first, my second cruise) and if he likes it, we'd like to book a seven day while there to get the best savings. What can we possibly expect?

The amount of the discount depends on what cruise you book. They usually offer the Western for $899 and the Eastern for $799. The select dates for these reduced prices are usually very limited. (While onboard in May, they only offered these rates for one week in May 2004.)

In addition to these rates you'll also receive a $200 onboard credit for the 7 day cruise.

I can't speak for the 3 or 4 day Wonder cruise prices/credits but I do know they were offered.
