Good day everyone:D

We are staying in a 1 bedroom at BCV end of May first week of June. Instead of using our points for Friday and Saturday, we made a cash reservation using a discount code (AX-)through CRO. Since we are first time AP holders (bought last September and using them for the 3rd time this year), I opted to go through CRO for this "room only" reservation hoping that AP discount codes will be available SOON. If I were to book this same room NOW thru DVC I would save a total of $40.00. However, if & when an AP code came out, DVC wouldn't be able to honor that discount code.

Did I do the right thing booking "room only" reservation thru CRO and hoping for an AP discount code? OR

Should I use the DVC discount for this cash reservation?

What experience have you had with AP discount codes (percentage off/$ saved vs. DVC discount)?

In total, on average who provides the greater savings-DVC or AP's?

Help!!! What would you do?

Thanks in advance!

Can I ask what the rate was with the AX* code?

I have a Friday and Saturday booked with the member discount at OKW 1 bedroom for May 9 & 10. It was 25% off or $289 plus tax.

In looking at the examples on mousesavers, the AX* code looked to be about 25%-30% on the deluxes. I figured I would wait for the AP rates to come out to see if I should change it. AP rates in the past have been in the 40% range.

I have seen postings where people have called member services and they matched the AP rate. How would I do that? Would I make the reservation with CRO but not put down a deposit? One advantage of the DVC rate is you don't have to put down a deposit (they take your credit card # as a hold only).

Why not make both reservations and cancel the one that you don't need when the time comes. I am assuming that the DVC member reservation through MS is cancellable, I've never seen anything to the contrary.

The MS reservation can be cancelled up to 6 days before (same as CRO). They take your credit card # and charge 1 night if you cancel within 6 days. With the CRO reservation, you have to pay 1 nights deposit upfront and they keep it if you cancel within 6 days.

Since BCV isn't sold out, you'll find more availability through CRO than you would normally. (It's due to inventory not being committed to DVC at this point. )

Don't judge your future options by this experience. It's very rare that DVC resorts are discounted to the general public.
