I called at the last minute, 40 days out, to make Christmas plans this year and of course there wasn't anything available at the All Stars w/the exception of a day here and there. So I booked at CSR, for the bargain of $215 a night, ouch 
. I was not excited about my rate since typically we do pay for rooms (we are DVC members but out of points) I called to ask if there was any other openings at the All Stars and then by magic they had a rate available at CSR or CBR for $124 a night which was only $9 a night more than the All Stars best rate. I hope this can help other people out as well; I know it made a big difference to me!
