I just read on mousesavers that there is going to be a discount package coming out soon for last of October through Christmas.
Now we just have to wait.

Edited to add:I did not see the other thread sorry.Just got all excited

To say that I am excited is a huge understatement for me right now. Don't sweat it. Someone had to share the news. :earsboy: Maggie

Just wanted to boost your reply count. ;) I excited too! :teeth:

Can't hardly breathe! I hope something my family can use!

I have a package booked (and paid for) for the beginning of November. Does anyone know if I will be able to get a discount if one comes out? I know there is a charge to make any changes to package so would I have to pay a charge to get any possible discount?? (am I making sense??) Was waiting for a discount and booked even though it is costing me a lot more that I paid last year for POR (booked room-only last year).

Thanks!

Lorie

Lorie - I know this is going to be asked a lot.

You're going to have to look at the cancellation/change penalties on your confirmation, or do you have a Disney brochure from a travel agent?

I have a 2005 brochure from AAA. It says "for a change made 44 days or less prior to arrival or that results in a rate change, there is a change fee of $50 per package plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other supplies."

So you'll have to look up if you are within a penalty time frame and what the penalty would be. If the discount is available and more than the change fee(s) (if you have one) then it might be worth it to change anyway.

I hope that makes sense?

Thanks for that answer, LadyTrampScamp&Angel! Yes, it does make sense. If I had actually calmed down after I saw the thread about a DISCOUNT I would have found out for myself!! lol

I looked at the back of my reservation form (only booked this on 9/14 and have not gotten my packet yet). It says the same as your brochure from last year says. We will be at POR for 7 days. I will be happy if I save anything on this since I booked room-only for about the same time last year and paid over $50 less a night then!!

Thanks for your response!! Let's all keep our fingers crossed!!

It depends. When I worked at AAA if a package deal came out that was better than what my client booked, I didn't charge the $50 fee. Just called Disney and made the arrangements. It is probably going to depend on who booked it. At our AAA there were travel counselors (booked anything domestic, Disney, car rentals and did memberships and trip tiks) and then there were AAA TA's who actually made commission off packages and did things like tours, Europe, cruises etc, but did NOT do trip tiks or memberships.

I have heard of that happening, if you change to the new package and the total is more $$$, say moving from mod to deluxe resort, the $50 can be waived.

I am hoping that this turns out to be something special for everyone in this time frame. I figure even if something comes out and I save $100.00 that is one of the breakfasts we have scheduled. This trip has already been a dream come true for my family. I did talk to my AAA TA on Friday and she did say that when anything comes out and it makes the package cheaper or adds more benefits they will apply it. (AAA Carolina's) So that being said I think she (AAA) are probably on top of things and will do the best they can. I have about 82 days to go and was going to pay off the package next week but now will wait and see what happens. Either way I am excited. Every little bit counts!

Kelly :)

There is some speculation about this on the other thread, whether or not it's true, but I don't think Mousesavers would post what they did if they didn't for sure, she always pretty reliable with info. :goodvibes

On a side note, I couldn't get on the DIS late last night so I was checking some other Disney forums and there were a FEW posts about this, but NOTHING like the 17 page thread here! -- We DIS'ers are determined for those discounts! :rotfl:

What I find interesting is the way it's worded - "a special discounted Walt Disney World vacation package" . Not just discounted package - but "Special". Now the free dining had been called a "Special" offer. So who knows :confused3

If I do the Best Rate Program, can I take part in any of these packages?
Best Rate is room only, Package are room + tickets - so you wouldn't get the benefit of the Best Rate AP room discount.

Can we reschedule our BR reservation? I wonder if I change the reservation to a future date if that would work? It would force me to go back next year *oh darn* and allows me to book the package. I'm within my 60 day window. Can we change if we are within 60 days?

Is anyone getting things done around the house today or are we just setting around the computer wishing upon a star? My family is saying dont you have life!!! Of course,DISNEY!!!! Marla :earsgirl:
