Since I'm new to the vacation club I have a question regarding discounted cash. How and when is it used? Thanks. :cloud9:

DVC members get a 25% discount when renting DVC resort rooms for cash, when available. Note again that this only applies to DVC resorts, not the regular Disney resorts. And also remember that there are only a certain number of DVC discount rooms available; after they're gone, you would need to rent for rack rate (or points).

I hope that helps.

Thanks Pumpkinboy. You answered my question. I had hoped the discount would apply to the other resorts for the extra days I'm staying.

Well, I've got an AP for that sort of discount. Sadly, nothing fro just being a DVC member. But the 25% DVC rooms is not a bad benefit. I have done well with it in the past.

Good luck with your planning.

We just got two nights at SSR using the DVC cash rate. On the reservation it notes that you must show a picture ID ( to show you are the member and not another person) since the cash discount is only good for a member and not another person.

Actually I'm not sure that is true. When you call for a member discounted room, member services makes a judgement call if they expect the room to be reserved for points. You could call at 10 months and they could say no, it's too early to release a room for cash. You could call back at 4 months and when they look at the inventory they may decide the rooms are not booking fast and give you a discounted room. I don't think they put aside a set number but continually review the inventory levels for certain dates. Doc has posted that you may be able to reserve for rack rate and if member services later decides to release cash discounted rooms, they will automatically discount it. At 60 days, they can release any unreserved rooms to CRO to rent to non-members (also know as breakage income, which goes back to the members as a dues credit). You can pickup an AP or Code rate through CRO also, which are usually more than 25% but the cannot be officially linked to your DVC reservation like a member cash night is.
