I posted this within another thread, but figured I may get answers through a new thread. Cheaptickets is offering the same discounts as offered through Disney, PLUS a 20% discount for booking through them. I'm teetering on the edge of booking (I know I have to pay in full, but I can cancel the day before and get a full refund).

Anything else I should know? What type of experience have people had? Good/bad? Any problems with linking the reservation or MDE?

Let me have it, people - I am trying to go back for Mother's Day. :)

I have heard that the rooms allotted to 3rd party websites like this do not have the greatest locations/views. I did a split stay and used cheaptickets to book the YC and Poly. At YC I booked water view so it wasn't an issue, but my room at the Poly was in the only building that was not renovated and the heat/air was so loud I insisted they move me and they graciously did. So that may be something to keep in mind.

It is not difficult to add to MDE. The confirmation email gives you a disney formatted number you can enter.

However, cheaptickets will be listed as the address and account holder with Disney. So, you likely cannot add requests to your reservation or make changes through Disney. You also will not receive mickey mail. You will be able to change the address for the magicbands though, MDE makes you confirm the address before they ship those. I saw some people had success by doing online check-in as soon as it opens up and changing the mailing address to their own.

All in all, I thought it was a minor inconvenience.

Edit - also keep in mind cheaptickets almost always offers a 20% discount, so I wouldn't worry about rushing to book.

I booked them back in October and had no problems at all.:thumbsup2

My daughter booked through Travelocity for a trip to WL in November 2013. No problems at all and she even got a MK view. We are booked at AKL-Standard View for February 1-8 through Cheaptickets. Hoping for a magical upgrade, but no big deal if it doesn't happen. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks - I took the plunge today and booked POR. I discovered that Cheaptickets accepts PayPal, which also allows you to do Bill Me Later. So now I have a few months to pay without interest. :) And I booked through Ebates...not much of a percentage back, but every little bit...

You can get all the perks of staying onsite if you book through a third party broker. There are a couple of things to remember:

1) No dining plan. Dining plans are a package add-on, and you have to book a package. Third-party brokers get a block of rooms from Disney, and they resell them. So you are not booking through Disney, which you need to do to get a package/dining plan.

You may be able to get a package through some airlines, because the airline would be acting as your travel agent, not as a reseller.

2) You don't own that reservation - the broker does. You can't call Disney and make changes to the reservation. Anything you change has to be done through the third party broker.

3) Make sure you get the Disney confirmation number - not just the one the broker uses to mark your reservation. Most of the time this number will be in your e-mail that you get from the broker (possibly headed with something like "hotel ID number." If it's not, you can call the broker and ask them to give you the number Disney uses to mark your reservation. You will need it if you are going to link a reservation to MDX or book Disney's Magical Express online.

4) Edited to note that unless you are a DVC member staying at a DVC resort, it appears you can no longer book Magical Express online. Calling Magical Express directly will allow you to add DME to your reservation. You might need the Disney confirmation number.

Can room requests be made directly through Disney if one books with Cheaptickets? In other words, once I have the Disney confirmation number can I call Disney and request a certain location? Also, I seem to remember some DISers have problems adding kids to their Cheaptickets room reservations. How does that work? Thank you so much!:goodvibes

No. Disney wont do anything to 3rd party bookings even if you have the number.

No. For all purposes, cheaptickets owns the reservation and you are simply paying cheaptickets to use it. You would have to call cheaptickets and try to get them to call disney and make changes. You can do online check in still though, which gives you very limited room choices such as near an elevator and in some cases, specific buildings. I have rarely had these granted though.

Not sure about adding kids since I don't have any! lol. But I would guess that had to do with adding a 5th kid under age 3 to the room, or adding a 5th at POR or a deluxe that sleeps 5. Cheaptickets will only recognize the industry standard up to 4 people in a room.

Was finally able to link the reservation to MDX. It took a couple of days for it to work, though. Thanks to everyone for the info - if there's anything else you think I should know, please chime in. :)

I booked a couple of nights through Cheaptickets before our DVC stay in June. The price was outstanding! I have already added it to my Disney Experience page.

So if you book a split stay with cheaptickets will your magical express pickup move to the second resort

So if you book a split stay with cheaptickets will your magical express pickup move to the second resort

When we do a split stay we check out of our first resort, go to a park until check in for the next and take Disney buses around for transportation. Bell services will move all your bags for you.

So if you book a split stay with cheaptickets will your magical express pickup move to the second resort

You would just book two separate one way magical express trips.

Use the link a PP gave above and book a one way from MCO with the first reservation number. Then book another separate one way from the resort back to MCO using the second resort reservation number. When the second online form asks if you have already contacted them to make a magical express reservation say NO. If you select yes, it may think you are changing your reservation and will cancel the first trip from MCO.

I'm about to make a reservation thru cheaptickets, but want to make sure that I will still get the magic bands and magical express. Anybody know this for sure??? :confused3

Yes, I already booked my Magical Express for June. All you need is the code from Cheap Tickets. It looks different than the one you get from Disney, it has numbers and letters. You will get Magic Bands if you are staying at a Disney Resort. Just enter your reservation number at the MDE site. FYI, you won't be able to get the dining plan.

Thank you so much!!!We were booked with the dining plan, but it was basically for convenience. I do believe I'll save a little going without it as we're not big eaters. :) Guess I'll go a head and do this.

Just an update for anyone who might be thinking about going with cheaptickets. I went ahead and made my reservations, immediately called Disney Travel Co. to cancel my reservations with them, and my cheaptickets reservation was already in their system. I went into MDE and linked the new reservations, very easy! Then I called the Disney magical Express number to get that scheduled. The lady who answered was sure the new reservation wouldn't show within 72 hours, much less 30 minutes. She was very surprised, and said it was the first time she's seen this happen. I'm very relieved that it was so easy. And I saved $628 over the spring offer!!! :goodvibes
