Discount on WDW Annual Pass?

High school son will be making two trips to Disney over the next 12 months and I am thinking it might make monetary sense for him to buy an annual pass. Are there any places that sell these at a discount? If not, where is the best place I can buy one in advance? Or is there an advantage to buying them at the park?

Thanks!

I think the only discount available is florida resident and DVC, if you are DVC member. I haven't heard of any other ones :confused3

And they have black out days so be careful of checking them as they may be when your son is performing! The tickets my DD received while performing were so discounted that an annual pass would have been more expensive. So just make sure to find out what the organization is paying for the tickets.

There are also military discounts for APs. I think only some FL resident APs have blackout dates, like seasonal and weekday annual passes.

When you say HE will be going twice, does that mean he won't be taking these trips with you? Will these trips be part of some kind of sports activity or youth group or school acitivity? If he'll be going as part of some group, find out if he'll be required to purchase tickets as part of the mandatory components of a required group package. If he has to get tickets as part of the group then this is a moot point.

This is a very valid point. We have APs (Florida residents) and my son's class went on a YES field trip to MK this past January, but we still had to buy the one-day YES ticket even though he had an active AP.

The tipping point for tickets (where an AP is cheaper than MYW tickets) is something like 11 park-hopping days or 13 base-ticket days. If he won't be in the parks at least 10 days during the year, the AP doesn't make financial sense.
