Discount on MYW tickets using Disney Visa?

I'm really thinking I need to give up on this card and get something else. Even last year when they did offer a package deal it was for new cardholders not people who had already been using the card. I wish I had gotten the survey. Someone should email this thread to Visa so they can see the unhappy customers(there's also a thread on the codes board). :guilty:

So you get 1% in Disney Dollars? If I spend $16,000 on my Southwest card, I get a round trip airline ticket. On my Disney Visa I would get $160 DD credits. I know which one I'm going to keep using. Yeah, I got it for possible discounts too. Haven't had any yet.

I didn't even get the Disney Dollars incentive for signing up, I got a pin, whoopadeedoo! I got the e-mail for the survey and I didn't even qualify to fill out the whole thing. I answered three questions and then got "we're looking for people who fit a different profile at this time" line. Buggers.

BUT, on the bright side, I don't have any spending limit on getting the double rewards. I've seen people posting who have to spend up to $1000 in the categories but for whatever reason I have to spend zero dollars in the special categories, like gas and food, in order to get the double rewards. That's pretty good. I use the card for everything and my rewards are stacking up.

I saw the $1000 thing also. Mine is $250 and yours is 0. That seems odd.

From the sounds of this thread it sounds like the Disney Visa card may be crashing soon. I mean if Disney afficionados are disenchanted with it.... .

I got the Disney Visa because they gave me $100 Disney Dollars when I signed up. I have never used it since.

make sure they don't expire before you get a chance to use them! :teeth:

O, we used those a couple of years ago. I keep looking for a new good deal from Disney Visa, but no such luck.

maybe they are putting that survey out there to find out why their card is being used as much as they think it should be by the people who have it....... maybe then (after reading the surveys) they will understand why so many aren't using it and are unhappy with it. Maybe then they will start offering more discounts and offers......dunno? just a thought

that's good. we just got one because we are saving for a Disney cruise in 2008....hoping to earn enough to pay for most of DS's part......

I believe the way it was on the survey it had a list of things and you were supposed to check the ones you believed were available to you as a Disney Visa cardholder. It didn't actually SAY they were available - although most of them were.

I blasted them pretty hard about the lack of discounts and how when they got rid of the Disney Club this was the so called alternative to it. Last year they did have some good room only and package discounts that were just $5 more then the Annual passholder rate. This year - zilch!

There have definitely NOT been any 10% off WDW tickets offers - unless they're saying it was 10% off in package plans - not that they have any good offers on that either. Perhaps there was a 10% off on DisneyLAND tickets? I don't know - but doubt that as well!

Well I was able to make some phone calls today. First I talked with the folks at Disney who didn't have a clue. Next I called the folks at Disney Visa.....girl who answered didn't know the answer but was very helpful and wanted to find out the answer. After a few minutes on hold she came back on the phone and stated that she spoke with someone who deals more with the Disney side of the credit card. The question was put in the survey just to see if people had a good understanding of the benefits. I told her that I knew it wasn't here fault but I really thought the benefits of this card were not great and was considering canceling the card. She did say she would send a complaint on my behalf via e-mail to the approp people. I say we all need to cancel our cards and send them a message....I am looking at offers from other cards right now to find out which one would be better and then I am canceling!

I have to spend $2300 in categories like food and gas to get double dollars. During the first promotion (which ran this time last year) I got double $ for purchases over $150. I got $150 extra that way. But from then on, I must exceed $2300 on every day items, so I haven't received a bonus $ since.

One thing that Disney Visa DOESN'T give, but most other credit cards do, is double points for DISNEY purchases. When I shop at Toys 'R Us, I get double points from my Toys 'R Us credit card. When I pay $1000+ for my WDW tickets with my Disney Visa, you'd think I'd at least get double points for that! (But with that said, I have $928 built up, so between that and the DDE card, I'm hoping to have the meals for our trip paid for.)

There are other threads on this "discount" that Visa listed on their survey. No one seems to know what they are talking about-even Bank One/Chase. You do get a discount on tours at WDW-I just booked and asked them. It was 20%.
I just booked the Segway tour and the discount was only 15% with the Disney Visa card. (Same as DVC discount)

Also be aware that if you cancel the card, any Disney reward dollars that you have accumulated or have on a card will be LOST. Use them up first

I did the survery too and blasted the "rewards." i also wrote that I signed up for a different card (Citi Dividends) since I didn't think I was getting enough from Disney.

Hopefully the surveys will make them change things!

I haven't heard of this, either. I know, for a fact, that the discount is NOT being offered at WDW ticket counters.

First post here. I have the Disney Visa as well and was wondering how you know how much you have to spend to get the double rewards.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

I have had the Disney credit card for about 6mths and I have never seen double rewards. How do you get them? Did you have to sign up separately? I am really bummed as I have been using it a lot lately.

Thanks
Kim

Apparently, there is not one answer. I have heard several people say their amount is $1000. Mine is $250 and earlier in this thread, someone said their's is 0 right now. It's not on all purchases. I think they refer to "every day" purchases like at a gas station. I'm not sure.

I've had my Disney Visa for over a year now and have yet to see any kind of double rewards offer. Probably never will. :guilty:
