discount on annual dues

Hi guys,

i have noticed on some posts that some dvc members are saying they have been able to get a 5% discount on their annual dues by pre-paying?

Does anybody know how this works?

What they are doing is purchasing Disney Gift Cards at Target using a Target Red Card which saves them 5% off the purchase. They then use the Disney Gift Card to pay their Annual Dues.

And if you fill your prescriptions at Target, after 5 they send you another 5% coupon. It isn't quite 10% (as my daughter says - math!), and its a pain in the back end, but it can be done.

Grocery Store Fuelperks are another great way to save. I buy giftcards to cover the dues when they off double fuel perks. So for every 100, I get 12.00 in free gas plus I get the 2% on my Disney Visa. So you can save if you plan and have the options open to you.

When you purchase Disney Gift Cards at Target using a Target Red Card, you save 5% off the purchase price. A $50 gift card would actually cost $47.50 when using a Target Red Card.

Can't help you with Target but if you pay your dues with a Disney Visa you will get 1% rewards with the regular card and 2% with the Premier Card.

We don't use our Disney Visa card to pay for our annual dues but you can use what you have in rewards toward your annual dues. We used to use our rewards to use toward park passes but once we learned it can be used towards annual dues, that's what we've been doing.

We use our Disney Visa to buy Disney gift cards at Kroger when they do 4x the fuel points. For a $25 disney gift card we then get 100 pts which is .10 off per gallon of gas. They will let you use up to $1 off per gallon. (A few times its been extended to $2 off per gallon.) We get our pts with our Visa and money off gas for our vehicles.

Yep. One issue is you will have a lot of gift cards. Target does not sell variable load Disney Gift Cards, they will all be for a set amount ($50).

We just got back from a long weekend. We estimated our food bill for the family and bought 500$ in gift cards for our meals. It worked out just about right. In essence counting our TIW and Target discounts we saved 25% on our food bill.

To pay your dues, you would call Member Accounting.

You can. If you purchase them at WDW you will have no problem using as many gift cards as you have. There have been some reports, however, that if you purchase them on line or over the phone they will only allow you to use two per transaction.

I have done it over the phone with multiple Gift cards I forget what number they gave me to call but they were able. Just tell them up front and I think that line business hours ended at like 5 and werent open sundays. It was over a year ago too.

I used to buy Disney gift cards through the Scrip program at my son's school. We would get a certain percentage of our purchase as a tuition credit, and an equal amount went directly to the school to help with operating expenses. A dollar saved is a dollar saved, after all. At first the percentage was 10%, when Disney first started offering the cards, now is only 2%. But, the nice thing is that the cards come in different dollar amounts, up to $1,000. So, I still buy them to used to get the Disney dining plan, and to avoid using a credit card for incidental expenses at the hotel. Since my son is in HS now, the 2% tuition credit goes to the scholarship fund to help the families that need help paying the tuition. So, now I can get warm fuzzies for doing a good turn while vacationing at Disney.
