I am planning a trip for December 2013 and am hoping for a Disney Visa discount. My parents want to come along but don't have a Disney Visa. I am planning to stay at POR with a connecting room for parents. If I am paying for their trip am I able to book 2 rooms with the discount?

It doesn't matter who is paying. You can use the discount for up to 3 rooms for the same dates and resort. Connecting rooms will just be a request and not guaranteed.

Awesome, thanks! I should have said I am planning to stay at POR and requesting connecting room for parents. :)

When you do book (assuming you are not using a Travel Agent who may already have shared this advice with you) your rooms, be very specific as to "WHY" you are requesting connecting rooms. (If adjoining is acceptable, indicate that as well).

I say this because they make notes on their request records and if you have a strong need (example: parents are older & need assistance; your small child has attachment issues,; someone has a disability). they will emphasis the request.

Also, upon actual check-in, put a smile on your face and ask sweetly if they were able to honor your need for connecting rooms. Often this is the best assurance as they really do try! Again, if adjoining would work just as well, be sure to tell them that is a second option.

MANY families travel in small groups and WDW trys very hard to put their rooms (or cabins if cruising) either in a row next to each other or across from each other as applicable. Sometimes it doesn't work out, but I'd guess 95% of the time it does.
