Hey guys, I fist would like to say that you guys seem to be the foremost authority on Disney Camping! We are planning a trip to Disney in October of 2010, and we will be tent camping. Where can I find the best deals for Ft. Wilderness/Park Tickets/Dining? I am looking to get the most bang for my buck and I appreciate in advance any advice!

God Bless!
Josh

The best way to ensure you pay the lowest price at Disney's Fort Wilderness that you qualify for is to contact rhonda@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com

She is a great travel agent, and unlike many others, she KNOWS the campground and knows Disney.

Some things you can do to help her get you that discount is to book early, and also get yourself a AAA membership. That is the easiest discount for the campground.

Other discounts available are Florida Resident, Annual Passholder, and other public discounts.

Once you book with Rhonda and give her all the info that you are eligible for, she will continue to watch for any discounts that you qualify for and apply those discounts to your existing booking.

She can also make your dining reservations, advise you on the best tickets, etc.etc.

Oh, and WELCOME to this merry band of nuts here in the DIS Camping Forums!!

You should also check out the Budget Board... There's a ton of ways to saves and ideas that might work for you. Just remember that the Fort does NOT count for the dining plan, only the cabins. So don't think you can jump on the wagon of free dining.

For October, you probably spend around 40$ per night, and Halloween is a BIG deal at the fort so pack plenty of decorations. They do pumpkin carving contests and kids can trick or treat through the campsites. I'm sure you'll see more and more pop up as it gets closer, but do a search and you'll find some good threads too.

The halloween weekend, you probably won't get any discount for those nights, but the remainder nights are probably eligable for passholder/AAA/FL resident discount. I've gotten discounts before, but the fort is so popular with all it's happenings that Disney is starting to figure out people will still pay full price to be there, even if it is off season. And if you stay 2 weeks, you could be there for Halloween and a week later it'll be Christmas...

BTW, welcome... make yourself at home... and don't worry about the neighbors... The fort is like it's own little community, much different than the rest.

Welcome Pastor Josh!!! :yay:

I don't have anything else to add because you've already gotten the best info from CLKelly & Sandra. It would be prudent to use Rhonda right here on our sponsor's website - Dreams Unlimited. She is the excellent resource for all your travel needs - and not just Disney.

Where are you from? You can also seek out travel advice from this board...or advice on anything from what apples make the best apple pie to the best method to remove warts. We have "know it all's" from every walk of life! :lmao:

Glad to see you here!

And just so you're warned, every thread will eventually degrade into discussions about peacocks, otters, and beer.

Welcome PastorJosh !!
Ditto on everything they said.

"Let's go FISHING !!":fish:

oh wait,,,thats what you do anyways !!:lmao:

Thanks for the information! I am from Carrollton Georgia which is about 45 minutes west of Atlanta close to the Bama line. I have enjoyed getting all the information off these boards, this is GREAT STUFF! Oh and I also like peacocks, otters and Beer :rotfl: Again thanks for the help!

Sometimes Disney offers residents discounts for neighboring states for hotels and tickets. You might get lucky.

Ditto on Rhonda...she is the best. Going this route was probably the best thing I ever did the first time and a no-brainer the next time. There's no extra charge to use her company and she does all the work. Really takes the stress out of ressies....gives you more time to stress on park touring plans :)

Usually she gets right back to you. She may be out of the office. If you don't hear back by Monday, I'd try again. You won't be sorry working with her.

You could also PM her. She's a moderator on the camping board and her user name is Rhonda. I know she goes on cruises sometimes on weekends. I hope you hear soon, she's great! :thumbsup2

I emailed her a couple of days ago, how long does it take her to respond?

She usually emails you back within minutes. I did get an email said she would be on vacation, must be this week, she will get back to you.

Hi everyone -- I'm here! It was the dumbest thing -- PastorJosh's email went straight into my Spam folder, and sat there for a couple of days, before I saw it! (Sorry again, Josh)

Stupid Spam folder. :headache:

I just want to clarify one tiny thing -- the campsites are eligible for the Dining Plan. They just don't qualify for the FREE Dining Plan.

Thanks for the referral everyone! I really do appreciate it! :goodvibes

I never knew you could get the dining plan there. But generally when I book, it's through the cast discount and they never offer the DP with the cast discount at the campsites, or else I'd stay there a lot more often.

When I booked our December 2010 reservation, she offered me a dining plan of $40 a day per person. I felt it was not worth it.

I think DP has gone up now. $40 might have been last year's rate?

The DP is worth it depending on eating habits. If you have teenage kids that already eat you out house and home... 40$ is a small small price to pay for food, especially if you take them to buffets.

Go to allears.net, they have a menu with current prices for all eateries at Disney. That way you can compare prices. Just remember that you still have to pay the tip for table service.

I'm a little confused about this thread. I thought it was about discounts for a tent site. According to the dreamsunlimited web site, they don't do ressies for the campground, just cabins. Can someone please explain?

Their site says that, but Rhonda will do it because she's a FW lover. Just contact her and she'll be glad to work with you.
