Discount availability and online reservations and modifications?

I am currently trying to book a 3-night stay at the beginning of June (we are doing a split-stay and the 2nd half is already booked).

There are slim pickings available even at standard rates. We are 4 adults and will need a room with at least 2 queen size beds, or 2 rooms at a value (or family suite). We are splurging big time on the 2nd half of the stay, so I am trying to keep the first half affordable. Staying on-site is a necessity because we always take advantage of EMH.

I can't get a room that ticks off all the boxes using the 3-nights, even if paying rack rates - lots of fully booked hotels. However, if I add a night at the beginning, an AP discount comes up in multiple resorts.

I have also checked Swan, Dolphin and Disney Springs area hotels.

Since reservations can be modified online - If I book the 4-night stay and ultimately decide to drop the first night - will the discount stay? Or should I just keep stalking rooms for the 3-night stay. I am coming up against the 60-day FP+ window, so I definitely need a reservation before that starts.

Also, will the FP+ stay if I modify the reservation after they have already been booked (assuming I do not book them for the 4th night)

Probably not. The inventory appears to be discounted for a 4-night, rack/unavailable for 3.

I would keep trying for the 3 night stay to become available. As the pp said, booking 4 nights now does not guarantee you can drop a night later and keep the discount. In the past, you were able to drop nights without a problem, but Disney has changed that policy. In order to drop a night/s, the shorter stay must be available.

Thank you both.

I was unaware of the wrinkle that dropping a day is not as simple as it used to be.

CALL!!!! The rooms don't seem to be all showing up on the website. However, if you call there may be rooms available. This happened to me with a trip at the end of April. Not only was I able to book a room when the website showed absolutely none, but there were discounted rooms still out there so I got a cheaper rate. Definitely worth a call to check.

Thank you for the suggestion. I just got off the phone and unfortunately there was still no availability for the 3-day stay, even at rack rate. Back to stalking the website over and over!!

And I have definitely experienced website anomalies - rooms showing and disappearing based on where I started the search from.

The website is definitely buggy. (No news there).

I have been trying since yesterday to add a 25% summer fun room to my cart and it won't let me, even though it shows up as available for the 4 midweek nights I am choosing.
