Discount after package is paid for?

What happens if your package is paid in full and them a discount comes out? Do you have to cancel and rebook? Or do they refund you the difference, assuming of course that the discount is available for the resort we already have booked? I really don't want to wait too long to book our package since we have our hearts set on a particular resort.
