?? Discount after balance paid ??

My final payment is due this week. I've never been so excited to send someone that much money!!!

However, DH is military and a FL resident. IF (big if) they release discounts for our cruise, does anyone know if we can use the discount even if our cruise is paid in full at the rate we originally booked? I only booked what I thought we could afford, so I would really just use the discount to upgrade to a better room at the price we've already paid.

Has anyone done this? Should I just stop obsessively checking for discounts every morning after I pay my final payment??

Yes, IF DCL comes out with a discount on your cruise date and your category after you have made final payment, and IF you contact them (personally if you booked thru them, thru your TA if you used one), they will refund the difference to you. It will be done in the same way you paid--usually that means a refund back to your credit card. If you paid by cash or check, they will send you a check.

The issue is not when they discount the cruise, it is that the discounted dates and category match. Also, if your reservation came with an onboard credit or other "perk," you may lose that with the new price. However, generally the lower price is a better deal than the onboard credit.

Tinkfan - glad you like the photo. It's my absolute favorite 'magical moment' ever at WDW. I spent a week at WDW with 3 of my closest friends (no husband, kids,etc). On e-night we rode HM as it was closing down, meandered to the front of the park, tracked down our stuff that have already been removed from a locker & as we were headed out the gate, someone turned around & realized that we were the LAST (non CM) people in the park. Luckily, I had my 'good' camera (manual settings) and managed to hold still enough for a 2-3 second exposure. All 4 of us now have it hanging somewhere in our houses!

this happened to us once. It wasn't a military discount, but they had lowered the price of our sailing in all categories, so we got a huge rebate check back from the travel agency.
