.......The tide is turning away from the "doctor is God" mentality, as some of the more senior members of the profession retire, but it is still there, especially since there are many other cultures now coming to the USA whose overall perception of women is very different from what we have here.......
I have, for years, made it a point to not 'address' medical practioners, nor clergy, with their historical titles of 'Dr, Father, Sister', but rather by their first names. They are no different than you or I and I think the titles do go to some of their heads.

thanks every one for your advice you got my juices flowing.., i called my Nerosurgean and set appt with him 5/31 , i let his secratary know what happened and she will foward my info to him .
I am a quite person and try not to causr to much trouble , , but this really had me very very depressed yesterday.. I went and got my medical records today ,and trying to get info to the Michogan pain center advocate, I think the Dr , could of at least said what was causing the pain and electric shocks , when i asked him if thei was normal he said he couldnt tell me , it would hurt the out come of the test ,, Dah do i look stupid, sometimes a little info could have helped ..any way i could ramble all day
once again thank you ALL for your thoughts. and giving me courage to speak up!

I agree. Many will say "Well-It is a sign of respect"--Well then, why don't doctors or pastors refer to us as "Mr." or "Mrs." or "Miss"? Isn't respect a two way street?

My doctor prefers to be called by his first name. He also sits and looks you in the eye when you speak to him. He is superior to me as far as his medical knowledge, but I am superior to him as far as my WDW knowledge ;) Yes, he may be out saving lives, but I save him money :rotfl:

All kidding aside, a good doctor doesn't get his/her butt in the air when they are questioned by a patient. Or a good doctor should never get upset by a squeamish patient. They should do their best to make the person feel at ease.

I agree with everyone else--The OP's doctor MUST be reported.

Subscribing for an update :)

Today I'm still all ticked off at that doctor! :furious:

Please don't think that you will be causing trouble by reporting this man. You are NOT!!! Think of the trouble, pain, emotional toll, etc. that you will be saving other people if you get something done about this.

I understand. I'm a somewhat quiet person too. It takes a lot to get me riled up. If I were in a setting as you described, I'm sure I'd be hesitant to say something. You were dealing with someone you don't know, a procedure you didn't know very much about and pain. None of that was in your favor. The doctor at the very least should have shown you some compassion.

I had stated earlier I would've given him an earful. In retrospect, I like to think I would. When pain is involved (and all of the other factors) it's hard to say what I'd do.

Anyway, it isn't easy to confront someone in a situation like this even when you are right.

That is terrible what a horrible jerk. I agree he should be reported. so sorry this happened to you. :grouphug:
