On the way over to EPCOT from Disney Quest, I stop at OKW to see if my room is ready... IT IS? YAY! I go ahead and unload my car and get unpacked. It is going to be cold tonight so I make sure I am dressed warmly. I even put on a pair of long johns! (Hey, I'm FROM Florida... if it's going to be in the 30's tonight.. I want to stay as close to 98.6 degrees internally as possible!) As I walk into EPCOT, the sun is shining and the sky is clearing... Before leaving my car in the parking lot, I made sure I had my coat, gloves, muffler, everything warm I could find! I must have 4 layers on already...
I am amazed at all of the blooming roses in January... I cannot help but stop to admire them. This wouldn't happen on one of our large family trips! If I stopped the domino effect would end up getting someone hurt! LOL!
Can you believe ROSES in JANUARY?
I'm meeting Cindy and Bruce for dinner at the Rose and Crown Pub! I'm glad that is one of their favorites, because it is one of mine as well and I had been planning on eating there sometime this week. It is about 4:30 and we had PS's for 5 PM so I have time to stop in and listen to "OFF KILTER" again! There is quite a crowd built around this outdoor stage... they are so good, people just stop walking when they hear them! LOL! It becomes quite a traffic jam to try and make it through Canada when they are performing!
As a Bonus feature, the fiddle player from "Alberta Bound" is sitting in for this set!
Apparently, Cindy and Bruce have this same idea... the band is reading a note from someone in the audience who has a request. The note is from Cindy and is asking them to play BORN to be WILD! Not only did they play it.. they used Cindy's name after every chorus! It was EXCELLENT! For the rest of the set, the band continued to tease Cindy about this song... She had really pink cheeks by the end of the set! LOL! When they see me standing in the back they wave for me to come up front... but, I decide to stay put... It was a bit crowded and the band was on a roll after that song! I'll just wait right here, thank you very much! I smile and wave back "Shaking my head, NOOOO! and laughing!"
After their set is over we aren't far from England and walk over for our 5 PM reservations. We had a great meal and Bruce suggested the Tennent's Lager if I'd never tried it. Being a novice at International Beers (I know Corona and Heinekin!) I am amenable to trying new things! It was WONDERFUL... even better than the BASS ale to me. So anyone heading over to ENGLAND be sure and try the Tennent's Lager... very nice indeed! Cindy was disappointed that they no longer serve the Prime Rib she so loves... so opted for a different steak which she pronounced OK but not nearly as wonderful as the Prime Rib! I ordered the Cottage Pie sampler since I had fallen in love with their chicken leek pie many moons ago!
See how delicious it looks! The Cottage Pie Sampler at the Rose and Crown... YUM!
The sun is setting over the World Showcase as we walk back towards the front of EPCOT... it is already feeling much nippier since the clouds have cleared out. I lend Cindy my coat until she can get hers from her car in the parking lot. Later, when I put on my coat to complete my 5th layer, it adds about 20 lbs to my overall look... but hey~ I'm warm!
As we are walking over they get a big kick when I stop to photograph several things in the setting sun... I tell them to keep walking I'll catch up! I NEVER get to stop and take photographs like this when I'm with the family! You don't get that many opportunities when the sun is perfect, the shot is perfect, AND you have remembered to bring your camera! This seems to tickle them~ I guess it is fun for them seeing guests having fun!
Did you know the yellow pansies at WDW have a unique fragrance? Wonderful aroma... stop and smell them sometime!
We are heading over to the MK to watch SPECTROMAGIC and WISHES! For this I have also brought my Video Camera since I think it will be more effective at capturing the experience. Our timing is perfect every step of the way. We are able to view SPECTRO curbside right where the parade comes out onto Main Street. I film the entire parade after fiddling with my manual controls a bit. The auto focus on a night time parade causes my film to be blurry a lot.. so manual focus usually works better with my camera!
We follow the end of the parade all the way up Main Street and cut over to find perfect seats for viewing the WISHES fireworks... we save seats while Cindy gets out of her wheelchair and says she will be RIGHT BACK! Bruce goes "UH, OH... I think she has the credit card!" I grab a large coke and return to chat with Bruce and still no CINDY! Hey how long is she supposed to walk on that cast... NOT AT ALL? That long, huh? Just as we were going to go look for her... she returns with a blanket and some socks! It is getting really cold and she is shivering. After getting all wrapped up, it is time for WISHES... I decide I just want to EXPERIENCE it for the first time. No pictures, no video... JUST WATCH and LISTEN! It will bring tears to your eyes... I am in LOVE with this FIREWORK show... It is indescribably beautiful. We even got to see Tinkerbell FLY! HOW COOL IS THAT?
As we are taking the monorail back to EPCOT to pick up our cars, Cindy asks if there was anything unusual about my room or "in" my room... HUH? Well.... it is a very NICE room but I don't know if that is unusual or not? (I'm not really sure what she is getting at..I hadn't mentioned TikiMan, so she couldn't mean him!) Hmmm, she responds that is odd there was supposed to BE something in your room for you from Bruce and I. Even she is not sure what it was supposed to be! I say, "IT's the thought that counts! So thank you very much for whatever it was supposed to be!" We say our goodbyes in the EPCOT parking lot... what a nice couple... they really helped make my evening special! It is so nice to be going home this evening to OKW! It does not have the same ambiance as my glorious suite at the 2* LaQuinta Lakeside (TG for that! LOL!) but I know TikiMan is waiting up for me and I don't want him to worry!
It's nice to have someone waiting up for you! Right, TikiMan?
