Can I just tell you guys how much I love shirring!?!?!?! I wouldn't have had the nerve to try it if it wasn't for y'all. So thank you!! I made my middle daughter a 2 tier skirt and then she said she wanted a shirt so I made her a peasant top and lengthened the sleeves a little. I shirred the sleeves and across the chest. But now I can't decide if I should put the shirring in the front or on the back. :confused3 I'll include pics of both sides and tell me what you think. Oh, and the classic pooh is that lightweight corduroy.

That outfit is too cute. I would shir the back to match the front.
Here you go :)

I like the look of complete embroidered face but since I have basically no clue what I am doing I wasn't even going to attempt it. I created a pic of Giselle the size I wanted to make the piecing, printed it and did the piecing. Then in my photo program I took the same picture and erased everything but the face. Made it a mirror image and printed it on transfer paper. It doesn't look as good but it was much easier.

LOL don't laugh at my crocked lines and threads that are still hanging out. :rotfl:
That is smart I never would have thought about doing a transfer for the face. I hate doing faces. That is very cute.

I can not draw to save my life! UGGHHHH
I am trying to find a picture of a pot of gold. just a plain picture! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Finally I got a card reader when DH got home. He had the one I've been tearing the house up for in his computer bag that he takes to work. Yes, I'm trying hard not to smack him...

I'm now working on an Ariel peasant top made from a panel I got at Walmart. I'm thinking about making a pair of embellished jeans to go with them.

I'm going to go get a shower and then start some laundry. I've got Delaney in her own bed, not that it will last, she's been up four times already, okay, make that five, now I'm going. DH can deal with it for awhile.

OK, here are our Hannah Montana Concert/movie pictures!

There are also sparkles in her hair, but they don't show up well in pictures!

Lydia doing the Lydia. I bought the girls the cute little HM star necklaces at Walmart, they were two for like $3. I made the skirt. I tried to talk her into her black rocker boots, but she wanted the pink sparkley shoes and pink tights instead!

I did a surprise Giselle for my daughter also. We used the same picture. I think using the face transfer was very clever. I am really unhappy with the black eyeliner. I will do thing differently next time!!!!

Here is Giselle.

I think it looks great! May I ask how you made the dress go in at the waist and then get wider at the bottom? Did you just put a tie in the back?

My girlie is super long and skinny. Peseant shirts are always too wide. I shirred the back. I did like 5-7 rows. I also shirred the back before I attached it to the front of the shirt.

Thanks! I like how it looks from the front! I might have to try this! Well, I am off to bed! GOOD NIGHT!:cloud9:

This is the fancy schmancy restaurant we went to afterwards. There was nary a loin cloth to be seen, which is probably a good thing! Teresa made Lydia a cute little Hannah Montana skirt.:

Teresa is still feeling pretty sick. She's feeling a lot worse today than yesterday. My poor sister!:sad2:
I'm so glad to hear about pierre. Looks like more fun at HM!!! I am wondering what will be HUGE in about 4 years- We totally Missed this whole craze!! :rolleyes1
Just getting onto this thread. I know that you crafty ladies can help me. I tried my hand at making Disney vacation shirts for DD (and our friends kids)on our last trip and they didn't come out so bad if I do say so myself. We got quite a few compliments. However, I used fabric and my own drawing skills to make my shirts before. I've decided to try to expand my shirt making for this year's trip. DD is a huge Stars Wars fan (that's right...and 4 year old Star Wars fan...go figure). I have seen pics of the Princess Leia Minnie and would love to make her a shirt...but I definately can't draw that well. I'm thinking there is a way to print out a copy of the picture and transfer it to a shirt but I'm not sure how to do this. What do you use and where do you buy the products? I'm assuming craft/fabric stores carry the necessities? For those who have done this, do you then stitch around the edges of the iron on to make it neater? HELP!!!!
I just wanted to add to what heather said.
I think you wouldn't want to sew through the transfer- I think it would encourage peeling. You should trim it before you iron it on. But you could sew around if you wanted to- I could look really neat!!
Heyy everyone! I've been lurking this thread for a while now, and i am in awe of everyone's talent. I got a sewing machine last week, and have already become addicted to sewing. I don't have kids (i'm only 17) but i will probably end up making a bunch of stuff for my little cousins.

Here's what i've made so far, though they're not finished.

A dress for me (its a size or two too big, and I still need to finish it lol but i guess I can wear it to the pool)
th_SSL22335-Copy-1.jpg

And a skirt for my little cousin. I need to hem the bottom (and trim some threads), and make the top which is going to be out of a strawberry shortcake panel, i think. The green top was for picture purposes.

LOL don't laugh at my crocked lines and threads that are still hanging out. :rotfl:

I guess I should have said that I erased everthing except the eyes, eyebrows, nose, and mouth. I DID erase the skin on her face.

I printed it onto transfer paper for WHITE shirts. I cut around everything leaving a small strip down the middle (where the nose would be) to hold them all together. So when it was all cut out it resembled a T in a way, just wider at the bottom where the mouth is. If you look close you can see she has a shiny unibrow where the transfer paper is. I risked the chance that the flesh fabric would also show through the eyes and mouth but it doesn't really show.

Does that make any sense?
That is SO BRILLIANT- Can you hear yourself getting CASED!!! Cuz you totally are!!!

They are ALL fantastic- But OMG that Dora one is the exact thing that has been haunting my dreams ALL WEEK!!! I have all that fabric, but I think my panel is a little different!! That is so weird!! Thanks for making it for me to CASE!!! And My husband actually unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher- I nearly fainted when I came home from work and saw the sink empty :scared1: :rotfl2:
