I am thinking the whole thread will be there, but he will just post a link to this thread at the end of the old thread...but all the post should still be there. Hmm...at the rate that this thread moves, it won't be too long before it will be locked as well.

This is exactly how I understood it.

Ok, let me try multiquoting again..I seem to always mess it up.

Hobby Lobby has I think it's Simplicity on sale for $1.99 this week.

I never even thought about going to Hobby Lobby for patterns or fabric!

Your kids are adorable, and looks like a fun Christmas trip!

I have made the YCMT.com A-line dress from CarlaC and YES it is easy.
th_MickeyMouseAlinedress003.jpg

That looks great! I will have to get some fabric and try that pattern.

What a great idea and your ds is such a cutie!

I think that turn out really great!!

Love your customs, especially the Cheshire Cat outfit! It's beautiful...and love the Belle outfit!

Funny you would mention this! I have been working on finding the old posts, and started putting them on a blog! I've only tracked down a few so far though. The blog is here if anyone wants to check it out: http://disboutique.blogspot.com/ I haven't gotten very far though, as you can see!
I'll link to it from the bookmarks too.
Most of the bookmarks aren't on the Dis, so I don't know that I'll add them to it. And, the pictures are all on a Photobucket account,so we have all those.

That looks great so far...and I would love to have a sewing room like the one you posted on the blog!! So organized! Great idea to link it from the bookmarks!

I know that Teresa quoted someone here, but somehow it was lost when I quoted.

ACTUALLY, that thought HAS been brought up before:
http://disboutiquers.proboards106.com/index.cgi

The thought of this was met with GREAT opposition, most of which is felt by top posters of this thread as well as the original. The overwhelming thought seems to be that if we aren't attached at the DIS, and all on this thread, that it's not a good thing. Or at least that's what the thought that has been presented here has been. BUT... now it appears that maybe that isn't the thought... who knows?

What I DO know... the original thread is gone. I personally have made SEVERAL requests to MODS to please give an explanation as to where/when the thread is or if it will be back. I've not as much as received a courtesy PM. NOTHING! I know that I personally, as well as MANY here that spent a LOT of time and energy pouring into that thread. I feel as if we've been misled about the thread. I also feel that this thread will disappear quickly as well. And as much as I hate to sound nasty, I don't have it in me to post detailed instructions or help in this thread as I know it will be soon be gone as well. I'm more than willing to help someone out via PM, and have done it many times. I'm also working on posting instructions that I've noticed on this thread onto the site that I've already posted. It's a means of archiving information so that it's not ripped out from under me again.

I've invited anyone to join me. Many have joined, but few have posted. Perhaps when this thread goes under as well, others will see the value of a board that we can have a bit more control of.

I will check it out!

I wonder if it would not be easier to have our own subtopic. LIke, instead of being under disney for families, we had our own subtopic. That way there would be topics we could post under, and our threads wouldn't get closed so fast.:confused3

Lovely Bathroom pictures! ;)

Ok, wayyyyy too much to quote! Loved the puppies (i heart Golden Retrievers)

Everything is amazing!

Well I think I cought the sewing bug..because my house is quiet, all are sleeping (even the dog) and i whipped up this little number. I dont know if I should hide it way and give to Georgia on her birthday Thursday, or see if she wants to wear it tomorrow for school... I keep thinking how cute it will look over jeans with a shirt under it.

th_TInkerbell001.jpg
That is so adorable!!!
I love how you used the two Tink fabrics together!
Here is the twirl skirt I made yesterday for AK. I haven't decided on what to do about a top yet. DD finally agreed to let me take a picture of her in something
th_IMG_0813.jpg

I love the AK outfits!!! This is really cute!

I just read on the creative board that they are going to lock all thread at 250 pages. They are going to bring back old threads, but break them up into 250 page increments, so I wouldn't expect our thread any time soon.

Thanks for the update!

So are you saying that for instance on the bottom tier when I was supposed to have 120 inches or something like that, I should have cut a strip as long as I could then sewed another strip to it so I would get my 120 inch wide strip?

And this is pretty sad, but I don't really know what a basting stitch is. I'll have to google that later. I put it on a straight stitch and set it on the biggest length. All I know on my sewing machine is straight looking stitch and zig zag stitch.

Thank you so much for helping me!!! :flower3:

I know it's been answered, but yes, you should cut enough strips to equal the length you want, otherwise you would have to buy a whole lot of fabric to get one long strip. ;)

And, yep, the basting stitch for the gathering would be the longest stitch length you have.

You are really doing a great job making things! You should check out the bookmarks, there are lots of tips and some sewing class type links there to help out beginners.

Teresa, Thank you for doing this. It will be helpful if we can locate all the useful tutorials from the old thread and archive them on this blog.

I just have to add one thing, we were watching the game and it truly looked like the game was over and than they added one second to the clock. I think it was more confusion than anything that caused the Pats to be slow coming back on the field for the last play. It does not excuse Belachick leaving the field though.

Thanks! I appreciate that! I'm hoping that once we get the old threads back I may have an easier time locating the old posts.

And, I agree about the Super Bowl, it looked over, and then all of sudden they added on a second! I wasn't paying a lot of attention, but with all the yelling my husband was doing, I couldn't help but look!
you should add this link to the bookmarks. IF you go to the right there is free tutorials and and patterns. it is very cute

Lori
Thanks, I'll add that!

I didn't know you weren't feeling very well. I hope you're better today!
Thanks! It really hit Saturday night and yesterday. I'm still not feeling much better. I hope I'm ok for the movie tomorrow! :3dglasses

SORRY EVERYONE!!! Yes I'm the reason for the problem with Photobucket, but I have clicked the click and changed my ways and to prove it here's the picture of DD5 VD skirt.

IMG_0146.jpg

I'm sorry for the problems.
That's ok, it was easily fixable, once we figured it out! It's so odd that clicking on a link would do that though! Your skirt looks so cute!!!

Does this top part mean that when the old post comes back it will only contain the first post and last post of the thread? Or does anyone else read that differently?
I think that was just talking about some gaming threads.

I think the old thread will be cut into blocks of 250 pages. All the posts should be there, you will just have to search several threads to find what you are looking for.
That's how I understood it too.

So, will we have to start our own thread, or will they start it for us automatically?

I
I'm almost done with the Nemo dress, it's in two pieces, the skirt part and the bodice part, I just need to gather the skirt into the bodice, I've already basted it so it won't take long. I'll have it done this afternoon. My DD and I are going to head in to Fairfax to hit Whole Foods and start working out way back out to Manassas and get our grocery shopping done along the way. I've got to get a few things for Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year.

All these holidays are right on top of each other this year, in the span of 9 days there's Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year, and Valentine's Day, and extend that out a couple more days and it's President's Day. St. Pat's and Easter are right on top of each other too. We usually decorate the playroom window but since Mardi Gras and Valentine's Day are so close we've got the dining room window decorated with Mardi Gras and the playroom has Valentine's Day on it. St. Pat's and Easter we'll probably do the same thing.

Well, I'm off to get all this done before it's too late.

I just wanted to say I think it is great you celebrate Chinese New Year! I have to run and mail the rest of my Chinese New Year cards. We plan to go to Epcot to celebrate CNY in the China pavillion (it has become a tradition). Sadly it is the one event all year I don't make a "custom" for. DD wear her silks from China:cheer2:

I like the thread format, and so do a lot of us. I know it's been asked if we could have our own subtopic before, but I don't think that's going to happen. I like it the way it is now best though. I like everything all in one nice stream, or broke up into several different streams after 250 pages I guess! ;)

Hey Ladies and Gents!

As many of you have heard the ongoing saga of my now officially cancelled WDW trip I have reservations that I will be cancelling and I wondered if anyone who had a trip scheduled for the dates I was going to be there would be interested in them.

I have the following reservations:

2/11 Crystal Palace 11:50

2/12 Askershus 11:55

2/15 Mama Melrose w/ Fantasmic 4:10

2/16 Cinderella’s Royal Table 9:05 am

2/17 Chef Mickey 9:30am

I will be cancelling them tomorrow so if you are interested please let me know so we can work out some way for you to get them.

I feel a certain allegiance to this board so I thought I would offer them up here first.

Very cute!

I love the color combination on this outfit and the style would be perfect for my soon to be 7 yr old. (how did that happen?). What pattern did you use? Do you think it would be difficult though to make it with nontie straps that are 1" wide?
Great job, also where did you get the fabric?

Oh this pattern actually has many different ways to make the straps its McCall's M4814. and very simple, easy to make. I had no problems and I don't follow patterns that great. haha

I got the fabric off ebay. I had bought a BUNCH for our trip for Thanksgiving. We all got sick and i was only able to make her a few things so I had a bunch left over. Since we are going in May, I thought better get started NOW!

Here she is ladies! She was ready for school and willing to let me snap a few pictures. hahaha Its a bit bigger then I expect, but at least she can grow into it and wear it for a while.

So I am looking through a quote book for a friend for something she is working and I came across this one...

"There is a time to be born and a time to die, A time to laugh and a time to cry, BUT there never seems to be enough time to sew!

I thought you folks would get a chuckle with that.

Too cute! I love that it can be worn year around. Will look cute in the summer as just a sundress.

PLEASE post a pic! I would love to have that picture of AbbyGrace. I guess I need to take her silks with us and get a pic. Or maybe we should schedule our next trip during CNY. There's a thought!

Has it been requested that we be given a sub-board? Or have they only heard us saying that we only want a thread?

Our last post was almost at 25,000 posts, wasn't it? That's almost 10 threads just for that thread. So, what's going to be difference in having 10 different threads stickied to the top of a family page, or having our own sub-forum? With 10 (almost 11 now) frozen threads, and an ongoing thread, aren't we pretty much a sub-forum already?

Oh she is cute~ That would look so adorable with hot pink flip flops in the spring & summer. Thanks for sharing.

Hi everyone! I haven't been able to keep up the past few days! We had a death in the family and just a lot of stuff going on! I did manage to finish my DD4's valentine day skirt! I really like how it turned out! I will hopefully be able to post some pics this afternoon! I know I have missed some cute things!:sad2: but hopefully things will be calm for a little bit and I can keep up! Just wanted to say "HI!"

Very sorry to hear about everything going on. I hope that things start to look up for you.

Sewing is therapy! Can't wait to see the pictures.

This is what I understand as well based on this from his message:

WebMasterAlex said:
3. The really long threads that were removed will come back over the next week or so. I have to shut the boards down to cut them up so I will try to do it during "off hours". We are also trying index them so people will be able to reference them.

Everything I've read about the long threads has been that the old ones will come back but they will be cut into smaller "pieces" so that we can still reference them. They just have to figure out how to put the pieces back so that we can find everything.

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. I will continue on with my sewing attempts. I'm still not sure I will wear the shirt but I like the style and will probably make another one. However, I have a different style to try next.
