Here's my latest project. This shirt is for my DH. I'm using the same material for a top for myself. That will have to wait until this weekend though. I also scanned the fabric into my computer so now I can make T-shirt designs for our 3 boys to coordinate with Dh and Mine

ChrisShirt001.jpg

Dh loved this animal print. I had only bought enough for a top for myself, but bought more when he decided that he needed a shirt too. :rotfl:

I don't usually lie to my kids, really, but I did tell them years ago that you had to have a teeny tiny sewing machine to make barbie clothes and that I couldn't afford it because it cost a million dollars!:rolleyes1 I do NOT want to start making Barbie clothes!!!! I have about 15 AG patterns (including some rare actual AG brand patterns from the 90's) and I can't even force myself to do those.
LOL!!! That is so funny!

These are great outifts! The monkeys are really cute! Good for you on getting to use the rainbow rick rack!
Carrie

Weird but funny sock monkey story coming!!!
When I was little, my sister and I got a sock monkey as a present. Well, we didn't like him. He looked like a big ugly boy doll. So we got scissors and cut out all the cotton balls, put those in a tupperware bottle and stuffed the monkey sock under our bed. Not sure why we picked the tupperware bottle for the innards. But at age 2 and 4 it just worked for us. Maybe we were creeped out by the cotton balls, I don't know.

What are you trying to do to me!!!!???!!!! Sock Monkeys AND cotton balls!!! I may need therapy now!!! They both scare me!!!

So all this for $4.99
And here is one more I laid it out on the floor and ds started rolling around in it.....
47b8df10b3127cceb4c6c40f918f00000026101AZsXLhszbMY

We made his shirt when we tie dyed.
WOW!!! Great DEAL!!!!

Okay I can't find the picture but I have a 'Matthew' story. DD was about 3 and she was in the livingroom while I was making her lunch. Suddenly I hear 'MOMMY HELP' I go running into the livingroom look around can't find her.:confused3 I run down the hall and she shouts, 'No come back.' So I go back into the livingroom, but this time I walk around the couch and there she was on the floor with her butt stuck in one of my plant baskets. Feet sticking straight out - butt completely stuck.:rotfl: I laughed so hard I and ran to get the camera. I'll find it and post it here. The funnest thing was after I got her out I asked her how she did it and boom she dropped right into it again. hysterical:laughing:
That is so funny!!!!! Especially when she showed you how she did it!

I love the poses! Leslie, When I think of an "Emily" pose, I think of that one where she is glancing over her shoulder. I think she is wearing the Tink with the elastic straps. She is so cute in that picture and looks like a model.

Anywho, this is what I did today! I am so happy to be finished!

Showing off Flounder

th_100_2215.jpg

She wanted this in here, to show off her house:

th_100_2216.jpg

The pillowcase part is a little stiff, hopefully after we wash it a few times it will soften up. My husband was so funny, he saw me cutting up the pillowcase and said, are you just going to leave Flounder there? You should put him on the back. So I did. When I finished the top last night he said, It's cool, but I'm not a fan of the big face. Why does her face have to be so big? I guess you have to really like the big faced princesses to like these outfits, lol!

Oh, the scalloped edge skirt was so easy! It took a while for me to do, probably because I am slow, but it's wasn't hard at all and the directions were terrific. Next time I might attempt it with tulle, but I do like this look so she can wear it to school and Disney. Thanks Carla!
I loooove the outfit Stephanie!!!! Lydia would like to come over and play in that clubhouse too!!!
The other week, I picked Arminda up at school, and what do I see sitting by the road (in the garbage?) a ROCKET!!!!!! Lydia has told us all that she is going to be an astronaut since before she was 2, so this was a BIG DEAL!! So, I threw as much of it in my van as I could, dropped it off at home then went back to get the rest! Lydia was SOOOOOO excited!!! It was FREEEEEZING out that day, but she put on her "space suit" AKA:snowsuit and played in it for at least an hour!!!

I think the story about your husband is hilarious!!!!! Big face princesses!

All of the poses are just too cute. I will share a pic of my daughter. She is a total ham.

This one is so typical Kaedyn. She is usually cocked to one side with a hand on her hip.
th_kaedyn2.jpg

And for good measure, this is the Brighton:
th_100_3948.jpg
Cute kids!!!!!

Ok, I sewed my first outfit for myself! Actually, it only required one straight seam down the back as it came off the bolt like this. You just buy two inches more than across the chest. I was looking for anything with animal print and ran across this. They had about 4 or 5 other types. They also had shorter ones for little girls.

th_dress002.jpg

Becky, DD19, says that I have to have straps (and I agree - the disadvantage of not having much on top). I haven't decided whether I'm brave enough to wear it to Animal Kingdom or whether it will be my swimsuit cover for the pool and water parks.

Now for the question: What do I do for straps. The bottom doesn't need to be hemmed because it is a finished edge. However, I can cut some off the bottom to make the straps and then hem it. Or is there something else that I could do for straps?

This is so cute Vicki!!! You look great! I think ribbons would be cute for straps.

Great picture!!! Those pants are so cute!
Ladies, I believe the official name is the Del Amo Fashion Center :rotfl: . Which was a big joke because it just had the same stores as the other malls, just 2 of them, 1 at each end of the giagantic monster mall.
My oldest DD was born at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

I will post pictures that are related to this thread later tonight, off to DD dance class.
For a minute there, i thought you were going to say your daughter was born at the mall! :scared1:

For a minute there, i thought you were going to say your daughter was born at the mall! :scared1:

My brother SWEARS I was born at this mall. It is HUGE!!!!!!!!! I think it is like the 3rd largest mall in the country/world. It has like 300 stores.

Okay, got my camera battery charged. Here are my Minnie Head panels, there are 2 different poses and I threw a dinner plate in there to show you the size. If I don't mess up my applique too much I should have a few of these Minnie Heads to give away in a few days.

IMG_0886.jpg

Here is what I am doing with one. I found a pattern with a slightly larger bodice than the stripwork jumper. I traced the pattern piece on my heat-n-bond then ironed it on to Minnie then trimmed her out using the pattern piece for some of the borders. I still need to cut out the actual bodice and put it on that. I will probably use the purple fabric in the background (and for the rest of the bodice), but not 100% sure yet. I didn't want the bow to be the only pink thing in there so I used a purple fabric marker to change the bow from pink to purple, but I doubt that it will show much once seams are sewn and the shoulder straps flap over the top. The skirt will be the floral mickey/minnie fabric. Not sure how it will turn out, but DD LOVES Minnie so she won't complain

IMG_0880.jpg

BTW for those of you w/this fabric, it also looks really cute with denim.

I absolutely LOVE this. I made Easter dresses for the 3 girls on our trip in March out of that fabric and that Minnie head would have made them perfect! Where di you find the Minnie heads?

One more post before I'm off to bed!

I did this today while the girls were at school. I was kind of experimenting with raw edges. I know that's really "in" right now, but when you are making something it just seems to go against everything mom taught me when I was learning to sew!

rockoutfit.jpg

My nephew is in a band and started a record label (whatever that means for a 20 year old in Kansas?????) and I might put his band name on the back. I think it's named "Parsen". I think Drew would think that was cool to be Austin's groupy! I'm not sure though because I don't know if I am gonna keep it or list it yet.

I just realized how blurry the picture is. I'll fix it tomorrow.

This is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Sooooo cute and I have a feeling it will be CASED!

I don't think I can really complain about that since I stole it right off of the pages of my mini-boden catalog!

I'll post a better pic. tomorrow so you can see the detail better and I'll try to link to the boden top I copied.

Now I'm a professional bridal seamstress (NOT) but really, I think I can do any beginner/intermediate pattern. :3dglasses
QUOTE]
I remember your Aurora dress! I would call that much more difficult than beginner/intermediate! That's the trick though. Just keep getting patterns that are slightly more complicated than the last. Before you know it you will be making wedding dresses.
I made the wedding dress, maybe I should try Aurora now! It looks MUCH MUCH harder though! Wendy, you want to fly on up here and help me make one?

I am going to have to try that - I noticed the armholes too. I'm not sure if she plans to donate again - It is so hard to say what her "mood" will be then - LOL! I had a hard time letting go of Emma's hari both time so I know what you mean. What sweet girls we have!
I agree!!! I wish I could find the pictures of Arminda getting her hair cut! They were on my computer, but I don't see them now!

:goodvibes Thank you so much!!!

:rotfl2: LOL on the correct name!!! Thanks for setting us straight!!! (I remember walking that HUGE mall, er I mean Fashion Center with my Mom looking for my prom dress. Hahaha
Did you post the required prom dress picture?
had to share my newest headband. :D

th_pics886.jpg
I LOOOOOVE that!!!!!
IMG]http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t96/tnmom25/th_Wendy5.jpg[/IMG]
That pose just makes me smile!!!! Emma is so cute!!

Ok, I'm going to be MIA this weekend. We are potty training and we start cold turkey tomorrow morning. I can't leave dd2's side, so I won't be on here much, maybe naptime and after bedtime. I also have a lot of sewing to catch up on! I just dread coming back on Monday to 75 pages to catch up on!!!! So, everyone needs to stay busy this weekend and keep the posting to a minimum :rolleyes1 It was a nice thought!
Ok, I have another Giselle dress to make! I should be busy with that! ;)

I will add straps to this so that I don't have a wardrobe malfunction. I don't think I'll use ties but actually straps. My next project is just regular sewing but I have to put the pieces together.

My DD22 picked out a pattern for a dress tonight that requires a zipper. So I will be progressing to that soon. She also found some material like this and wants me to make her a shirt.

So, you might be posting pictures of your beautiful daughters soon?

I guess you just never know with the dye - we did some for our family - got wet and no problem - i guess its just a 50/50 shot at the running???
th_scan0001.jpg
Great picture!!!

Riley wanted me to make something for Drew to wear to her basketball games. Riley also wanted me to tell you that Drew doesn't tuck the shirt in all dorky like that and that I just did that so the words showed up in the picture!

th_goriley.jpg

th_numbersix.jpg

Drew calls this her cheerleader outfit. I didn't want to do all of the pleats of a cheerleader skirt so I cheated and told her that cheerleaders sometimes wear skirts like this!:rolleyes1
I love that basketball skirt!!! So cute!!! I am SOOOO relieved that she doesn't wear it all dorky too! :rotfl2:

This is CarlaC stripwork jumper. I modified the back and staps. The Tink set has just a regular skirt. For the straps I cut a piece of elastic the length the strap needs to be. Make a casing 2x the length of the elastic, insert elastic into the casing and secure both ends. I've never done a button hole - I don't need to with the elastic back and straps!

Here's some front views...

IMG_1856-1.jpg

IMG_1736.jpg

I added the directions to the bookmarks, I just hope "they" don't hide it! I think we should call these straps "Leslie Straps"

Funny, whenever I see a jumper without the elastic in the straps, I think it looks wrong!
SO, after I posted the pics, I went and dug around in the closet and come up with this. I know it's not completely boutique, but I just don't have it in me to make a top tonight. Do you think it's gonna work?
IMG_3345.jpg
I think that looks great!!! Call it done and get some rest!

He is sooooo cute!!! That's my future nephew-in-law, yah know! Tessa is plannig on marrying him!

That is really cute!
Ok I am going abck and reading. My you ladies have been busy today while I was gone! I had to go to Dallas to take DS to Scottish Rite and get his new braces and I passed a Jo Anns! I was so excited! I didn't have much time so I was limited to what I got. And nothing was onsale blah. I am sure everyone has already seen these but they were new to me.

th_sewing035.jpg
th_sewing037.jpg
I really love these two fabrics! I've never seen them before! I think it was Heather that was saying recently that you don't see Woody on anything! These are great!

Ok, so I want to get in on the "paying it forward" on the thread lately sooo...

I will make a Valentine Mickey tee in any size (girl or boy!) for the first person to guess my son's middle name. I will give 1 hint. It is a name of a Disney character. Good Luck!

We Have A Winner!! My*2*angels guessed the right name!

IMG_2934.jpg

Where is Heather and Teresa? I don't think they have been on here all day!

Come out, come out, where ever you are!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to the Disney store! I bought myself a cute Dumbo plate!!! A new pair of glasses and founs some teal ribbon for Lydia's Giselle dress!

You guys were extra chatty today!

We are expected to get a big snow storm tonight. It hasn't started to snow yet, but they are already closing schools!! That never happens! The kids play outside during recess even if its 20 degrees out!

I am soooooo hoping that my girls don't have school tomorrow. I don't think it's gonna happen though. We keep getting little bursts of snow but not enough to do anything.

I finally finished my other DDs valentine dress.

Oh, this is my new machine! Still figuring it out.

th_HPIM1355.jpg
Very cute!!!!

I left the outfit in the family room (where it was when I took the pic), and when she came in from church, she ran over to it, and started dancing around it. She was amazed. She really likes it, so that's all that matters, right? I'm glad I went ahead and finished it.
Awww, that is so sweet!!!! Don't you love it when they love it!!!

Anyone have any idea where I might be able to find out a user manual for this sewing machine? It is a National Sewing Maching Co. Model B400. I can't find it online and I checked with one of the large suppliers of manuals. Anyone seen anything like it before?

sewing011.jpg

I have to decide whether I try to use this one or buy a new one that I have a manual for.

What do you want to know how to do? This looks like a pretty straightforward machine. If you just look at some online manuals for other machines, you could probably figure it out. If there is somethign specific you were wondering how to do, just ask and I'm sure one of us can help you out!

I did a search for a manual for this machine when you first posted, but couldn't find anything either!

Did you try contacting the company that made the machine? Sometimes they can help. That's what my grandpa had to do to get the manual to his tiller that he has had since 1979. I found this address and phone number for the company.
NATIONAL SEWING MACHINE
905 E-8TH
NATIONAL CITY, CA 91951
619-474-1853

Hope that helps out some.

I was just looking at the picture of the machine and I realized that I have used that particular machine before. In fact that is the one that I used when I made my DD's baby clothes. It functions just like an old Singer. If you need help PM me maybe I will be able to help you out.
I told you these ladies could help you out!

Thanks for the suggestion to add a ruffle to the collar (MyTwoTinks)! I just added it, and it is the PERFECT touch. I don't know why I didn't just think to do it and rip it out when it's over. Of course, I did it after I took a dose of NyQuil, so we'll see how it looks when I wake up in the morning! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Since I'm half falling asleep now, I'm gonna call it a night! Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. I think it'll be great!

Good night Shannon! I hope you are feeling all better tomorrow!

WOW!!! That is FANTASTIC!!!! I keep looking for that little guitar fabric, but I can't find any anywhere! It's so cute!!

We are expected to get a big snow storm tonight. It hasn't started to snow yet, but they are already closing schools!! That never happens! The kids play outside during recess even if its 20 degrees out!
I hear that it should hit us around midnight, then blow on over your way. My kids don't have school tomorrow. It's a "professional development day." They had a snow/ice day yesterday though. So, it's a nice short three day week!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am soooooo hoping that my girls don't have school tomorrow. I don't think it's gonna happen though. We keep getting little bursts of snow but not enough to do anything.
I love snow days! Too bad it has to be so COLD to have a snow day though!

I have those minnie head panels too! I've had them for years! I made them into pillows for the girls room. Hmmmm, might have to turn them into something else. :)

I am loving all of the valentines outfits and the one with the guitar is soo cool! Sorry I haven't been on lately, this thread goes so fast and my special needs daughter had a rough week so I didn't get much computer time :(

Here is a new Cinderella outfit that I got of the site I shouldn't mention. My dd fell in love with it!

I forgot! I wanted to ask you...is it really just as obvious as you're saying (going against everything you learned when you were first sewing) w/the frayed edges? When we were at DL last week, they had these super cute canvas Mickey head bags with the frayed edges and I'm wanting to try...is there anything special you do/use to achieve this look? The guitar is really cool! Nice work!!!!:worship:
