LMAO I was going to say I can always tell my washed fabric pretty sad huh? Besides doesn't your fabric get all stringy on the end when you wash it? Am I doing something wrong that is causing that?

It gets stringy. I've heard that some people serge the edges, but I usually just cut it off after I wash it.
Well I did it! That's right I have accomplished a sewing goal today!! I'm trying to post the pictures of the dresses and the shirts, but I can't do it. I tried to load them on the photobucket, but apparently I'm to numb in the head after a day of sewing to figure it out. Does anyone have another way to load pictures onto this site?

Did you set up your own Photobucket account? With your own password and everything? If so, then you just log in and click on "upload" or "bulk upload" Then you just find where your pictures are on your computer and upload them.
You can't upload to the Disboutique Photobucket account though.

Fun fabric day!!!!!! Here's what I got today...
IMG_0369.jpg

OOH, some really pretty fabrics there Deann! I love the black swirly one!

So I went and bought a few things ... I have NO idea what I am going to do with a lot of it but I figure something will pop out at me eventually. :) It was on clearance and well I have issues. ;)

sewing031.jpg

Bunch of different color swirly fabric. Thinking I may use some of this on the little ones blanket.

sewing029.jpg

I bought four panels of the Frosty it was .90 a panel! Then I bought what was left of the star warz no clue about what I will do with it though.

sewing027.jpg

Then these. Revrob they still had about 2 to 4 yards of this left when I left. She said a lot of people had bought it today. There was a WHOLE bolt yesterday! Did you go to Kilgore lol.

I absolutely love all of this fabric. I need to find some Star Wars fabric for DH. He wants some PJ pants.

These minnie dot pants where the first custom Disney item I ever sewed!!! (I did some sewing before that but merely for Halloween costumes...no need to share those...hahahha) Oh and I "Disneyfied" the shirt too by ironing on some letters and Minnie!!!

MinnieTaylor4x6.jpg

Anyway, here she is meeting Minnie Mouse for the very first time!!!!

DayTwo154_filtered4x6.jpg

Aww Pluto!!!

DayTwo243.jpg

True love here!!! LOL

DayTwo156.jpg

She wasn't so sure about Goofy at first!

Totally adorable pictures. I love that Minnie Dot fabric.

Hello Everyone!! I have been lurking on this "new" thread since it's conception. . . thanks to a link provided to me on UtahMama's TR. . .

I have always wanted to sew more, and I have a machine - but it is in the box :scared1: I have only used it a handful of times. I do not have kiddie's yet, but I do have a couple of friends that are brand new mommy's. I just bought a pattern to make shopping cart covers - though no fabric or anything else yet. So I guess I will be making a trip to JoAnn's or a Super walmart sometime soon. . .

Thanks for providing inspiration!
:welcome: We're happy to have you here! When you get something sewn, make sure you post pictures!!

Those are so cool! What a pretty model you have, too!

Wish I had something in sewing to post. sigh...I've been sick with some kinda flu type bug & not real motivated. So here's my 2 cents of nothing but random comments....

Heather, congrats on the new baby!Adorable! All that change on the little guy has to be tough. He'll settle in soon & then y'all can truly enjoy each other! Love the siggy with the "Disney hating DH" & little doggie smilies! And Teresa's right, I could only see it on one of your posts.
Aww, I hope you start feeling better soon!

I am going to have to try and make my siggy a little smaller so everyone can see it!

Wow! She's beautiful!!

whoops how did those get in there? I didn't even notice - still learning about this camera stuff lol (note to self - keep feet out of shot)
At least you had your toenails painted up all pretty! I didn't even notice your toes. Isn't it nice when these helpful ladies point out that stuff? :thumbsup2

Wow, you got some great deals on some really nice looking fabric!

I forgot to mention that I am a sewing novice. I have only sewed a handful of times :) I am totally inspired by all of you.

My machine is fixed and I am ready to sew. Unfortunately, I have to make curtains first. That is how I convinced hubby to get my machine fixed :(

I went to JoAnns and bought fabric. I am so excited. I am going to whip through those curtains so I can get going on an outfit.

Maybe next week I will have pictures.
I wanna see your curtains! Make sure you post pictures!

Those are the 2nd thing you've made? You caught on fast! Cute pants!

Dude. NINETEEN PAGES. too much to keep track of. And YES, I am that cool. Didn't ya know??? :cool2: :rotfl:
:rotfl:

I like the thread the way it is personally. I'm sure I would get use to it if they changed it, but I really like the family feeling we have had going on here for the past year. :grouphug:
I agree! We already have the photobucket site, so if people just want to see the pictures without the chit-chat, they can look on there.

Ladies I have a question about fabric. When you buy a ton what do you do? Do you wash it then or just wait it out?
I wash it right away so I can cut it out right when I get the urge to do so.

So wait...you have a DH but he isnt wonderful??? :confused3

Heather I love the great pics of all the business. What a great collection! I love the part in your siggy about your DH....I should put that in mine. I tried to convert him but alas he thinks Disney is one expensive rip-off. :scared: :sad2:

I read that the same way as you! LOL!

Doesn't it stink when you can't share your Disney obsession with the love of your life?

The trick is to take it out of the dryer, then kind of wad it up into a big ball. Then, it will be all wrinkled and it is very easy to tell that you have washed it allready!
:rotfl2:

LMAO I was going to say I can always tell my washed fabric pretty sad huh? Besides doesn't your fabric get all stringy on the end when you wash it? Am I doing something wrong that is causing that?
Yep, it usually gets a little stringy on the ends. I just leave it and deal with it when I cut my pattern out.

Fun fabric day!!!!!! Here's what I got today...
th_IMG_0369.jpg
All right, now you're just bragging! :snooty:

Teresa and Sondra, and anyone who couldn't see it before- can you see my whole siggy now?

Here is Pierre!! So far he's a pretty easy dog. I don't think he's gotten off the couch, except to go outside! The poor thing, we are his 5th home in 7 years. He lived at the breeder's house until he was 1 1/2 (but she couldn't use him for breeding). Then, he went to another person, who gave him to her MIL because she didn't realize how much responsibility a dog is. The MIL gave him to the woman we got him from because she was moving to Florida (and why didn't she take him with her? :confused3). The girl we got him from is moving to Canada and said it's too expensive to take him over the border and she didn't want him to go through quarantine. But, she's taking her two cats. :confused3 Anyway, we're glad to have him. He seems like a little sweetheart. As you can probably see from the picture, he and Josie aren't too sure of each other yet. I was mean and made them sit next to each other for the picture.

that is officially the cutest dog I have ever seen!

Ok here are some pictures I found in my scrapbook-my aunts made it for me for my graduation. The title of the page is what I want to be when I grow up:
This is me at my grandmas sewing machine when I was about 3 or 4.
47b8df09b3127cceb438f258046200000026101AZsXLhszbMY

I was about 13 here and my grandma had a knitting machine- I won first place at the county fair and a sweepstakes ribbon. I recall making a couple of these for different babies in the family.
47b8df09b3127cceb438048704c600000025101AZsXLhszbMY

This one was on the same page and it made me think of the other kiddos getting into mischief.

Jham - Love all your trip pictures! Your kid are so beautiful and looks like you all had a blast!

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever added a ruffle to a pair of knit pants/leggins? If so, would you mind sharing how?

Thanks so much, Wendy

No idea, but Lisa Zoe has been the resident expert in sewing with knits. Has she found us on the new board? I don't recall seeing her.

I like the thread the way it is personally. I'm sure I would get use to it if they changed it, but I really like the family feeling we have had going on here for the past year. :grouphug:

I agree, it just wouldn't be the same without all the prom, wedding, pregnant, snow, doggie, kids making messes etc. photos!

Ladies I have a question about fabric. When you buy a ton what do you do? Do you wash it then or just wait it out?

If it is a ton, I try to get them to wrap it back on the bolt then I don't wash it till I cut it.

I made DD a tee to go with the tutu twirl skirt eeyore3847 made. I love the tee Lori made - she'll wear it with the skirt as an everyday set. I loved this fabric so much that wanted a tee to match! I think I'll make myself one on a pink tee. The bows are petite bows and they are sooo cute!

th_IMG_2983.jpg

Love this tee to match! THe bows are perfect!!!!!!

I love that fabric! The mickey hear ears are the cutest. I don't think I told you this, but when Megan saw the one for your son, she squealed! Yes, you have to make yourself one too!

th_100_2199.jpg
Love these! Super adorable. He loves them to if you got an 8 year old to wear it. my almost 7 is already getting fussy!

So I finished two skirts

What do you all thinks?

th_IMG_0312.jpg

th_IMG_0317.jpg

I think both of these are super fabulous!! WOo hoo keep going!
Lori

Teresa and Sondra, and anyone who couldn't see it before- can you see my whole siggy now?

Josie and Pierre are still cut off, I can see the tips of their ears.

I see this (but with all the smilies before Josie)
Married to Henry the Disney-hater since 1994, mother of Tessa (4), and Sawyer (1), doggy-mom to Josie

CUTE! What size is it??? with the luck we've had the last three weekends at Disney in the rain we could use it! ;)

How adorable is he walking with lilo. nice to see at 2 he already likesthe characters!

IMG_3740p.jpg

I am also wondering if you try and match up the print on your shorts/shirts...obviously mine isn't since rocket is chop off on the front.
Jenny

I think it is great, and huge prints I try to match, but once it is on, you won't tell the difference. a tee with an appliqued rocket on it, would be perfect!
Lori

Okay 1st of all where are all my post's from yesterday night? I commented on everyone's stuff as of yesterday..... wonderful stuff yesterday anyway this the 2nd time this has happened the 1st was on the Twilight Thread Moovin on now .
Here's dd2 in her Nemo custom at wdw on 12/1/07 - I think I found more of that ocean fabric at the nifty little sewing shop on Saturday. It was up high on a shelf, so I couldn't see for sure. But, I will be going back soon to see!
th_resizedemma3.jpg
that is really cute.

Don't you just love how dd2's pants blend so well with Minnie's skirt. This is the Walmart dots and I think they look much better than the stuff from Joanns.
th_minnie4resized.jpg
how perfect

Wasn't sure if I posted this here or not. I made dd7 a Cinderella cleaning dress to wear to CRT (that's what she wanted!) and dd8 a Jasmine custom.
th_crt4.jpg
love it ...

Here's a little better picture of the cleaning dress.

what a cute picture and a cute idea

And our AK picture.

One last shameless post to put me at the top

cute!!

Ok Saturday night I was looking at vintage patterns online, and I found the cutest reversible, wraparound, jumper dress. The person selling it only had one copy of the pattern and it was a size 12. Way too big for DD. So I thought about it and decided that it was too simple to buy a pattern for and decided to just make it up myself. So here is what I was doing from 12:00 am Sunday until 3:00 am Sunday.

th_CIMG0523.jpg
This is the bottom back of the dress. Those little triangles were a pain in the nose to do.

th_CIMG0522.jpg
The purple front.

th_CIMG0521.jpg
The pink bottom back.

th_CIMG0520.jpg
And the pink front. DD doesn't like the ribbons, so I have to replace them. I was thinking about Disneyfying this dress with something Princessy. DD thinks that the bottom looks like a cheerleader outfit. If I ever do another one I will do it a little differently.
that is cute:thumbsup2

I just finished the jeans to go with my Pooh outfit. I love how all of this came together. Very subtle and feminine. I am now officially done sewing for out trip! Only have to suffer through today and tomorrow at home!

This is the stripwork jumper and peasant top:

Here are the jeans to match:

I love the way the tulle is knotted at the top of the band. How did u make it come out so neatly. It looks almost like a double layer at the band??? Mine was a mess.:rotfl:

It's not knotted ;) below is how I do it it is sewn - it gives a nice flat waistband - If I'm playing with colours then I'll loop it (I can't remember if I done it with this one - I don't think I did - I'll aske her next time she's over) but if I know what I want I just sew. This has 2 pieces of each colour folded over and sewn (if that makes sense).

Welcome - I'm a newbie too :)

Thanks - There are a few no sew tutu tutorials around (check the first post for a page of links I think I saw one in there).

I do mine differently (I was making them for a long time before I found out there was an easier way  typical, there is always an easier way lol) Anyway I use non roll elastic to fit around waist and then I attach a ribbon to each end. I cut all the tulle into strips then gather over the elastic and sew using a 3stage zigzag in whatever colour pattern I like. I like doing it this way as I don't lose any of the tulle if the knot comes undone.

Also with the ribbon closure makes it adjustable so a wider range of sizes can wear it (this particular one fits a 6mth old up to a 5year old approx) HTH

i think i am gonna have to take a trip to check out somme fabric :rolleyes1

At least you had your toenails painted up all pretty! I didn't even notice your toes. Isn't it nice when these helpful ladies point out that stuff? :thumbsup2
That's exactly what I was thinking, see, I had pedicure envy! :flower3: I really don't pay attention to my toe nails until the heat kicks up around here (sandal, shoeless weather). I tend to jam my pigger toes in thick ol socks until then & pretend they don't exist. Who has the time? :confused3 Wait, it's the end of summer, in New Zealand, right? That's why her (Flea's?) toes are all fabulous & glam! :cutie: I'm jealous! (and just got a clue, duh!:headache: My blonde roots are showing! Lol!)

Teresa and Sondra, and anyone who couldn't see it before- can you see my whole siggy now?
No, I can't see the siggy & even the DIS Sistas photo get chopped on my screen....sorry. I think you need to just re-do it & put in the photo of you in your Rella tiara!;)
