Ignore me but in the background you may see Underdog Woman.....everyone from NJ/PA/NY probably knows her

th_babyphoto1.jpg
You guys all look so cute!

According to my mom. They were packed up in a box with my trophies and pageant dresses and the landlord took them. Apparently she was being evicted for not paying the rent and the landlord came in to seize property to cover the rent that was owed. I think that my grandma may have one, but she doesn't have many pictures of me as a child, because they burnt up in a house fire that they had when I was eight. Tragic I know. There are very few pictures of me.
That is sad! Nothing like that happened with my baby pictures, my parents just didn't take any!
Pictures of my older brother, pictures of my younger sister. Poor little middle child, Teresa, has TWO!!! YEAH TWO!!!! Baby pictures! Although, at the moment I can only recall what one of them looked like....
Just get a pedi! They are really pretty nice, although I have a hard time sitting still for very long. You get to sit in a nice comfy chair that has a back massager while your feet soak in a whirpool mini bath (make sure they clean it in front of you). Then they massage your feet and legs with lotion, work on your calluses (if you don't want them to do something just tell them), cut/file your nails, push back your cuticles, and finally paint your nails. Your feet really do look better once they are done with them. Overall it is pretty relaxing and you really should do it for yourself! Go ahead, you, Heather, your Mom and Barbara should all do it together once she gets back on her feet. You'll really love it!
Not a bad idea!

Barbara called me yesterday, she'd been to a family get together, then went grocery shopping! She says she is feeling fine. I would be playing it up if I were her!

Okay, I'm awake and I didn't have to stay up all night packing, I actually got some sleep, go figure.

Delaney's party was fun, the kids had a great time and I didn't come home with any food other than a few pieces of cake.

I'm going to get going because we need to be out of here in 40 minutes to get to the airport. I'll have internet access in the hotel so I'll check in.

If anyone is down or coming to Disney and wants to meet up, PM me I'll check whenever I'm on.
Have a great trip!!!!

1.)Teresa: Our Wal Mart did not have the snore stop pillow. Do you know what brand it is? I desperately need one!

2.)Confession: When Jacob was a baby people constantly told us he should be a model so we entered him in one of those baby pageants. He did not win (one of the regulars did, we didn't know anything about anything) but he did get a big trophy. We tease him about it from time to time.
1.)It's a Healthy Nights
It looks like this:

2.) I told Arminda being in the baby pageant. I called it a beautiful baby pageant. She thought that was pretty funny, and told me that he didn't win because he is HANDSOME not beautiful! :lmao:

Hi everyone! Love all of the Crayon rolls. They look great. I need to try one of those. This is a dress that I had the fabric for, but just never did anything with it. last night I cut it out and this morning sewed it up.
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20072368.jpg
These are the two parrot cay dresses for the cruise. One is missing a bow in the front, and the other, needs the straps sewn down. I've been hesitant to do it, I'm waiting to see if she grows before we go.
One dress is for Ireland, but she didn't want her picture taken, she's doing her spongebob stickers...LOL
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20072373.jpg
BAD KITTY!!

I love that flamingo dress!!! That fabric is adorable, and I love the little ties you put on the sides!

a snore stop pillow huh? I have a GREAT snore stop solution...you SHAKE your husband REALLY hard and holler at him to STOP IT! Then throw a pillow on his head.

it works wonders...

seriously.

it does.
I tried that method for almost 20 years, it lost much effectiveness after the first 5! It's really annoying, because he falls asleep before his head even hits the pillow! We can be chatting away one second, then all of sudden SNORING!

I have often found that placing your foot squarely in the center of your husbands back and pushing as hard as possible works! Once he hits the floor gets up gives you a look and takes his pillow to the couch...no more snoring...in the room where I am soundly sleeping!

I think that's why Brian sleeps on the side of the bed pushed against the wall!
ok I finished my BIG GIVE outfit. I am a little worried about it though. I think it is too small. When Jenna gets up I will try it on her and see if it fits. I hope it does, because I had some problems making this dress.

th_S2010233.jpg
Crystal, it looks great!!!!!
*delurks* Hi guys :wave2: I found this thread recently and love looking at all your creations but, although I sew myself, i've been a little hesitant to share any pictures: I don't have kids yet so I just sew for myself, family and friends and i've only ever made baby blankets as far as kid stuff goes but if no-one minds me being a bit off-topic (I know this thread is mainly for kids clothes) i'd be happy to join in :goodvibes I especially like all the appliques posted on here, something i'd like to start doing I have at least three baby gifts to make this year and have some cute ideas for them
:welcome:
Just wanted to share with you all that due to the inspiration of this thread, I have moved past appliqued shirts and have sewed DD her first Disney vacation dress. Obviously pretty simple but hey...it's a start.
011.jpg
VERY adorable!!! The dress too!!!

I love the Barbie magnet paper dolls on your fridge!
Ok, haven't really had a chance to catch up. I am working on my very first T-Beri Togs outfit, a shaby chic stripwork dress. I'm contemplating doing a cloche hat to go w/ it. :confused3 I had to go out and make some business purchases...a new cutting mat some rotary blade, notions, A DIGITAL CAMERA (my first and a nice one at that!!) I think B is going to buy me a laptop too    I am still worrying about the impact that starting a business is going to have on my WDW fund!!! But I guess I just have to go out on a limb for a change. Gotta get back to the sewing room...

OH and the robert kaufman ducky fabric came saturday (my first business delivery:cool1: ) and it is SOOOO NICE!!! The color is gorgeous and the fabric feels wonderful. I can't wait to turn it into a simply sweet top (or 5 since I ordered a ton of it:rotfl: )

...t.
Cool! I can't wait to see your finished outfit!!!!
Where are you going to sell these?

Thanks for the warm welcome :goodvibes Here are a few things I have pictures of.. I've been doing a lot more sewing lately (just finished my degree so I have some free time while i'm jobhunting as i'm only working part-time right now) and i'm going to take pictures of my more recent creations soon :cool1:

I love this!!! That fabric is so adorable. Lydia would love something out of that!

The dark spot on the sleeve has to be a shadow since there is nothing there IRL. I decided to go all blue instead of a third color on the back and I am glad I did. I love the way it turned out. Mom might make shorts out of the blue to match.
That turned out great!! I like the solid back on it, it looks really good.
I need input from the kind ladies (and Tom) of this thread. I did this appliqué this weekend and just not sure. I mostly like it but I'm not pleased with how much the fabric shows through some layers. For example fabric of the "hair" shows through where the fingers overlap it. I also feel like the dots of the base fabric showing through almost look like Giselle is pocked. LOL It doesn't show as much in the photo as it does in person. I'm hoping it will be less noticeable once I line the back of the appliquéd area.

What do you think? ANY suggestions or critiques are welcome!

th_giselle1.jpg

BTW - I'm also not sure about how the hands look. Something just doesn't look quite right but I'm not sure what.

It would bother me a little that the polka dots show through too. But, I think you did an amazing job on the applique!! I'm not sure about the hands, honestly, I woulnd't have even thought about them if you hadn't mentioned it!

I went to Walmart and bought MORE fabric today...it's an addiction. I can't stop myself from finding something. I got the Ariel pre shirred fabric, some blue daisy fabric and a pretty black fleur de lys fabric. I don't know what I'm thinking. It takes me forever to get an outfit done. I'm going to start sewing an apron tonight for a secret sister present. I'm part of a message board for military wives on fort bragg and we are doing secret sister. It's been fun. I'll post my progress later :)

Wow amazing stuff posted today  and many new "window shoppers" this weekend!:cool1: Welcome! I love the Big Give Giselle!. I hope it fits too! Lisa, your Giselle is just gorgeous...you really captured her expression. So if you don't like it....what are you going to do with it? I'll give you my address if need be :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Well, this weekend was our recital. Each girl had two numbers and their were two shows plus two days of dress rehersal. Here are some shots from the last 4 days!

Yeesh thats practically a trip report! :3dglasses Glad the whole thing is done for now! Nine more days of school and its summer vacation!!!:cool1:

Thanks!

I'm wondering if I should make them for her friend's kids that are going with her. I assume they will be doing at least some meals together. I would have to do something a bit different for the 2 year old though-those little cards are too hard for a 2 year old to do. Do you know if they are a girl (6) and boy (2)?
Alicia told me she has a feeling the people going with her "might" back out of the vaaction but she is not positive yet. If they don't, then I think that would be very nice of you. Yes the girl is the 6 year old and the boy is the little guy. Again, I just love what you made. Such a cool idea!

I have been making some big give bracelets. I want to get my package shipped off Mon or Tues so I'm trying to get stuff done!
Ohhh very cool, I can't waitto see your bracelets!!! :cool1:

Wow you ladies need to slow down so I can catch up lol. Princess is leaving us on Tuesday so I will probably just be lurking until then.
Awww Callie....I am so sorry Princess is leaving but I am so happy that you are at peace with where she is going and who she will be with. My thoughts are with you!!!

ok I finished my BIG GIVE outfit. I am a little worried about it though. I think it is too small. When Jenna gets up I will try it on her and see if it fits. I hope it does, because I had some problems making this dress.

Oh my goodness...I think this turned out so PRETTY!!! You did an awesome job on it and I know Isabelle is gonna love it. She loves Giselle!!! Isabelle is a size 6 so I bet it will fit perfectly. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS...YOU ARE SO SWEET!:cloud9:

That looks great!!!! Just curious..what size did you make? I think I am going to use one of CarlaC's pattern for the BIG GIVE...either the stripwork jumper or the simply sweet dresses pattern...and thinking of doing it in a size 6.
According to Alicia, Isabelle is a size 6 so that is perfect.

Crystal:

Love the outfit!!!!

I have a question for those sewing capri pants for the big give... is the 19" lengh from waist or inseam?

After I made the outfit I realized that the 19" was the inseam and might be long so insecure me decided to make shorts just in case:

Oh those shorts are just darling. I love the whole set you came up with. Very. very cool!!! They will love it!!!

OMG! I love the Dorothy Costumes! We had our recital too. It was Disney themed this year since the older students performed at Disney in April. We were technically "Snow White" (my DD had quite an arguement with her teacher that this costume looks nothing like Snow White and that they should have been Giselle!!!) I wish I could think of something to turn this into for the Disney trip!

This is probably a dumb question but the peasant blouse everyone loves is the one from YCMT right?

Okay, I'm awake and I didn't have to stay up all night packing, I actually got some sleep, go figure.

Ugh! 4 days to go and I wake up with a freaking sinus headache! :headache: I am stocking up on Musinex today and being bad taking some left over antibiotics from DH to kick this. If I am not better by Tuesday I will make myself go to the dr.
:wizard: Hope you can beat that fast!!!

Ps...Lexie and out kitty got into a fight this morning...the kitty won..now Lexie has a gash on her arm that required skin glue. It's little, but it was gaping open. Poor girl..
LOVE those! The parrot dresses are great but I really LOVE the flamingo one!! Poor Lexie!

ok I finished my BIG GIVE outfit. I am a little worried about it though. I think it is too small. When Jenna gets up I will try it on her and see if it fits. I hope it does, because I had some problems making this dress.

That is great! My DD is a size 6 and I thought the Simply Sweet bodice was a bit big.

I'll stick a note in the package when I mail it to Alicia offering to make something for her friends.

I just need to know where to mail it.

LisaZoe - Giselle looks fabulous!! The dots would bother me. I think maybe what's bothering you with the hands is it looks like she only has 4 fingers on her left (screen left) hand. I can't believe I'm critiquing an appique from you!! It really does look great!!

Cute stuff! I love this fabric & the dress! It reminds me a lot of one I just finished.

Yes, Teresa, it's finished (finally!), I just need to get ribbon for a belt for it & then I can show it off. :car:

Linnette, I don't remember if I commented on your Pooh & Tigger outfit or not, but it's great! I'm amazed at the patterns you can make up.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I need as much as I can get. Especially when it takes all day to get through a stripwork top. But it went like this...wake up, find ants in the kitchen sink :( put a hold on my sewing plans, clean up ants and caulk the hole they made in the molding by my french door. GRRR go to MIL's (that's where the serger is -for now!!) find out that the pattern I planned on making is lined AND interlined and I don't have all the fabric I need. GRRR switch plans, cause who needs a pattern for a stripwork dress??? Oh, that'd be ME cause I need a pattern for the bodice, log on, find pattern-print pattern. NO dice, the printer was out of black ink. Configure printer to print color only...It has been like that ALL day. Not to mention my DH could not have the princess, he'd better have done the things he said he was doing at the house instead of parenting B/C otherwise he is in TROUBLE!!! Venting over. I've gotta go button up the dress and make some yo yo's.

Oh and you'll be able to find my stuff at www.whoababyboutique.com (site still under construction)

Hi Everyone,

I just got all my pieces cut out for the girls birthday outfits (and the out fits for their dolls) do you all follow the directions exactly go put all the pieces together? i was wondering if there was any way to avoid that hand stitching part at the end?????? lol!!!

Thanks,
wendy

This is a lovely applique! I do understand about the darker fabric showing through.
After having done a bunch of appliques for quilting, I've found a tip or two to fix this kind of problem. What I have done is now that your top stitching is complete, flip your piece over and make a small slit in the fabric behind the hands ie. that small part of the hair fabric and your backing. Be careful not to go through to the front. Then I use a popsicle stick or my finger and gently release the fusible web up to the stitch lines. Then I use my scissors and trim away the fabric behind right up to the stitch lines. Then once it's lined, you won't see anything but the hands themselves. I hope that helps!!!

Right now the costume is a very expensive item in the dress up trunk! I kept thinking throughout the recital...what a big gigantic waste all those costumes are! Oh well!
