I need opinions about a pattern:

Do you think I could modify this to make a sailor top/dress but sleeveless?

That is VERY cute! It reminds me of Donald Duck! I think it could be done sleeveless pretty easily.

jham! I wonder if you could make the bow centers by cutting that tiny crown out of fabric with heat n bond on the back, and then ironing on a piece of fabric, and putting on a cover your own button? Have you tried cutting fabric before?

That's a great idea. I have not tried cutting fabric with it. Have you? I have enough problems with paper :rotfl: But I've only had it a few weeks. I may get brave enough to try. I have some of those buttons to try too but haven't yet.

Here are the shorts for the baseball trip today. They had to wear the navy blue shirts.

This is the scrunchie I made to match and one of the last times you will see her hair...she will get it cut off with me next week! We decided to cut our hair off before we went to Disney. Just too hot! We both have extemly thick hair and mine goes all the way down my back. Plus, I need to cover my gray!:rotfl2:

I just got some really cute fabric in the mail. It came all the way from Australia. I haven't seen any of it around here so I'm wondering if it was only for the Australian market. :confused3

Anyways here it is:

Now I just have to figure out what to do with it. I think that I want to do some pajama pants for Jenna and maybe a pajama top too.

Thanks every one for the fast responses! I was looking at a singer that was around $100 I bet it is the one all of youa re talking about:)

Jham
The one with the tension problem is a Brother I got at Costco! I got it about 6 yrs ago..I was actually thinking about checking there this weekend and seeing what they had.

Ok now I need to either convince hubby to get me one asap or convince my mom she needs to ship me hers!;)

They turned out so cute. I used to make all of my own scrunchies when I was a teenager. My mom didn't want to pay that much for something that could be made so easily.

The shipping might cost less than buying one. You may want to look into just paying to have your mom's machine shipped to you.

OH MY GOODNESS! Adorable! I love how the bows have the matching crown emblem! Awesome job.

Man, you guys posting your outfits has me really itching to start mine! I'm shopping for fabric tonight after DH gets home, but won't be able to start on it just yet. Ella's birthday party is this weekend, and I must make her an outfit. We decided against the pink pirate party when we found this adorable Fancy Nancy doll at Target. Ella loves the Fancy Nancy books but we usually check them out at the library. So we bought the doll and a book and I talked Ella into a Fancy Nancy party. So I need to make a Fancy Nancy dress. The doll we got her is wearing this outfit:

So I'm going to make Ella a matching one! I think she'll be really excited. She can be kind of a fancy nancy sometimes, so I think she'll have fun!

That will be sooo cute! We love Fancy Nancy around here too.

Does anyone know of a good pattern to use for a raincoat, the kind with sleeves and buttons? I would need it to fit a 2-3 year old. Also, what size does an average 2-3 year old girl wear?? Thanks!!!

Jess

That fabric is really cute!

There is a rather inexpensive Brother that most people like. The model number is not coming to me right now (CS6000?). My sister, Heather has one, and she really likes it. I think Walmart had it on clearance a month or so ago for around $90.

CS6000i - Only one of our Wal-Marts still has any & it's missing EVERYTHING that it would take to make it run & the cover for the bobbin case. I know this because I really wanted it this weekend & my Mom was going to get it for me, but it was going to take $50-$60 bucks to get all the bits & pieces for it. Instead, we found the CE4000 at another store for $80. They're almost the same machine just fewer stitches. So I have a new machine now & it'll do my button holes for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:

These are great costumes.

Here are our peter pan costumes. I found this nightgown that was a super huge -moo moo style. but the fabric was just right so we transformed it!

Here is a better view of Pan and Hook, though I wish the lighting in the hotel was better. Notice, I made DH cork his hook since we were going to be in WDW and I didn't want anyone to conceive it as a weapon :rotfl2: I took a generic pirates hook and painted it up a bit cause DH likes "authentic" (rolling eyes here!)
360052734305_0_ALB.jpg

and here is Tink though you really can't see her outfit very well and she had the most adorable wings my mom made for her. Notice the pom poms on her booties :cutie: You can't tell, but this outfit looked JUST like Tinks and her wings were sheer blue w/ rinestones around the edges.

tink.jpg

But she spent most of MNSSHP like this...

You can kinda see her wings in that picture.

And I would like to point out that I think there are walmart bags in my sleeves and to puff up the bow in the back of my dress:rotfl2:

UPDATED;)

WOW, I can not wait to see your Fancy Nancy outfit. Sounds like it will be an awesme party...I agree with whoever said it, we will want pictures. Hahaha!

Okay ladies, you are all putting me to shame! I haven't even chosen what to make yet, let alone bought fabric, cut, sewn and finished the outfit and accessories to match!! I've decided to not think about it until the baby comes but now I'm second guessing myself.[/COLOR]
Oh no, you better keep your mind on that soon-to-be-baby of yours. We don't want you going into early labor or having any problems!!! You take care of yourself!!!! :cloud9:

Now, could you slow down a bit, I don't even have a pattern OR fabric bought!!!

At least you have the fabric!

In my defense though, I have not been well this weekend, or this past week. I keep having horrible dizzy spells, so Brian took the van to work so he wouldn't have to worry about me trying to drive somewhere.
This happens to me every now and again, so hopefully, it will pass soon.

Awww...you are not alone, I have not started my BIG GIVE project yet either. I just want it to be perfect for Isabelle...so I need to think think think! Hahahaha!

Oh I hope you feel better soon. Do you get migraines or is it just a dizzy feeling?

Tell me about it. I have an idea of what I want to do, but I'm starting to think that it's not good enough.
Whatever you make is going to be perfect!!! And I just know that both Isabelle and Alicia are gonna love it!!!!!:lovestruc

PLEASE don't think what you are doing is not good enough!!! You are starting to sound like me! I worry that every outfit I make is not good enough and it drives DH crazy. This week was the frist time I got up the nerve to make anything for someone other than my own child. I made her best friend an outfit and did my big give dress. It took me 2 HOURS to make the first bow that I did in this style, and mine don't particularly look like the photos either!
Okay you sound like me....I guess I am a perfectionist BUT like I have been telling others, I am sure Isabelle is going to love EVERYTHING we do. And Alicia is gonna freak with excitement too. I just KNOW we are doing an amazing thing here...I just know it. This truly is a wonderful feeling, isn't it?

You sound like me too! I've only ever made one outfit for someone I wasn't related to! (the Giselle top)I was so scared I would mess it up, I kept putting it off and putting it off! To me, it's so scary making things for other people. I have very little confidence in my sewing abilities!
LOL...again sounds like me but I just warned Alicia that I don't really consider myself a "seamstress" and told her not too look to close at the stitches and the seams...HAHAHAHAH. She laughed and said she is GONNA LOVE whatever we make her!!! She is totally a sweetheart and is VERy grateful for everyone doing this for her and Isabelle!!!

I think you should be able to make that work.

Here's the one I made(no there isn't a model & yes it needs ironing;) ):

2008_05270004.jpg

I used Simplicity 5982 & just lengthened the top & made it a bit a-lined. It looks cute on & I promise to prove it soon.:rolleyes1
Oh, I LIKE, OK LOVE, that one. Too bad it does not come in larger sizes. I need ~ 6 for the BIG GIVE although I should look a little closer at the measurements given to me.

I think the pattern you quoted will be almost exactly lik this one. It probably won't need the 'modesty panel' in the front, but that's about it.

ME TOO, which is why I've been getting cold feet about putting my stuff in a boutique. I change my mind every other minute.

Also I would like to say that I bought a bike yesterday and today I replaced my desk chair w/ an excersise ball and I have been eating tons of fruits and veggies and less cookies...all in an attempt to lose a little chub before the vacay. But I have no will power at all and am terribly lazy so if you could all send some pixiedust my way I would be appreciative. I need all the help I can get.

THANKS:yay: ...t.

Ok, here is what I found out about Fancy Nancy......

It seems she wears ORANGE shoes!!!!!

A little history here, when Morgan came home from China she had these little pair of ORANGE shoes. She wanted to wear them EVERYWHERE. After she got home, she wanted to wear PURPLE and orange together ALL the time!:3dglasses

Here is a pic at the Detroit airport on the way home from China.

NOTE the Orange shoes LOL

I get headaches, but they aren't really migraines. Sometimes it's just a very disconnected feeling. This time though, it's actually room spinning dizzy. NOT fun. It also feels as if someone has clubbed me in the back of the head with a 2x4 and then loosened the bolts that keep my head on my neck!

I get weird headaches too. Mine are sinus and allergy related and can make me really dizzy. This is a really bad time for them!
