Here's the one I made(no there isn't a model & yes it needs ironing ):

I used Simplicity 5982 & just lengthened the top & made it a bit a-lined. It looks cute on & I promise to prove it soon.

ME TOO, which is why I've been getting cold feet about putting my stuff in a boutique. I change my mind every other minute.

Also I would like to say that I bought a bike yesterday and today I replaced my desk chair w/ an excersise ball and I have been eating tons of fruits and veggies and less cookies...all in an attempt to lose a little chub before the vacay. But I have no will power at all and am terribly lazy so if you could all send some pixiedust my way I would be appreciative. I need all the help I can get.

I get headaches, but they aren't really migraines. Sometimes it's just a very disconnected feeling. This time though, it's actually room spinning dizzy. NOT fun. It also feels as if someone has clubbed me in the back of the head with a 2x4 and then loosened the bolts that keep my head on my neck!

It seems she wears ORANGE shoes!!!!!

A little history here, when Morgan came home from China she had these little pair of ORANGE shoes. She wanted to wear them EVERYWHERE. After she got home, she wanted to wear PURPLE and orange together ALL the time!

UG! I wish I could motivate...I was doing great going to the Y, working out with the grey hairs in the water arobics...lost a few inches...then I spent all winter sick...or somebidy else sick that needed me. Now, just lazy! Maybe I'll go back tomorrow!

After reading this thread the other day I decided to try and get the tension on my sewing machine fixed. So i took it to a local sewing shop and they wanted $80 to clean it and then if the problem wasn't fixed they would tell me the cost from there. UGH the machine was probably only about $150 to begin with and I don't think it is worth spending $80 for a maybe it will be fixed. What do you guys think?

So in the mean time I have been itching to sew something. Figures I don't have a machine and now all I want to do is sew something!

Any way i have been looking around at a new machine and of course I fell in love with the new Singer Curvy but it is $$ and I am such a basic sewer and I really don't need all of that fancy stuff at least not yet.

Do you guys have any suggestions on a good inexpensive basic machine?

My mom has one she bought a few yrs ago and hasn't even opened the box and if I still lived in GA I told her I would be taking possession of it but since I live in IL now I bet the shipping would be $$. She told me to move back and it is mine . Easier said then done

Some of the older machines are worth repairing. On the newer machines, some of the parts are plastic and can warp from the heat. Did you ask at the place you had it cleaned for thier opinion? I had to replace my machine, it was a used machine I got YEARS ago for $75. It certainly wasn't worth replacing. I got my money out of it. I got the Brother from Walmart, the CS6000i. I LOVE this machine. I guess the stores were clearancing them, I heard people were getting them for $90. But I had to order mine online and sent it into the store for no shipping.

Oh, if you could get your mother to send you hers, it would probably be around $25 to send.

NOT SO MUCH.. A girlfriend of ours (singer/songwriter) told me I should write a song about all the things that go awry in our lives called "Not so much" cause I say that ALL the time. I just haven't been motivated to break out a pen (even if the psychic told me I need to start writing again-after I didn't even tell her I ever wrote in the first place )

Gettin' ready to go home and take the tots for a bike ride...I really need to get a cushony-er bike seat, I rode around the block yesterday and my BUTT IS KILLING ME!

I don't think you are wrong at all...you were told that your daughter was invited. So that is what you planned on. It's frustrating to be told you can't bring your daughter at the last minute. It's bad manners on the brides part really. At least in my opinion. It's just basic good etiquette to give those with children ample notice that they will need to secure child care. If you don't do that, then you have to accept that they won't be able to be at your event. It's not your fault.

I got married at a private vineyard. They had a pretty strict "no kids under the age of 12" rule unless we had a specified "child wrangler".It's a working vineyard and they have lots of farm equipment and did not cover children in their insurance policy. So we just made it a blanket "adults only reception", with the exception of my step kids. (they were covered under our homeowners insurance that we had to have on file with the vineyard!) I sent the invitations out in PLENTY of time...and a save the date...specifying said rule.

My cousin showed up with his young son anyhow. At the end of the day, what were we going to do? Ask him to leave? The venue manager was really nice about it and my cousin's son was good as gold for the most part.

and not that this matters...but my cousin didn't even give us a gift...or say thank you...or even "I'm sorry we couldn't get a baby sitter"...he's just rude and we've NEVER been close. I invited him b/c I had to...he used to throw rocks at me when we were little...

not that that is EVEN the point...but still...*ahem*

The point IS...sometimes people don't care how they might inconvenience others. It sounds like your cousin has a very narrow field of vision when it comes to her wedding. Most brides do. What she said last week may have no bearing on what she says now.

You have every right to be annoyed.

Family functions can be difficult. If they REALLY don't want children at the wedding, can you maybe go for the ceremony and let your daughter stay with daddy...be there to show your support, but not stay for the reception? It kind of makes a point. You were there, you fulfilled a family obligation...but can't stay b/c you have your OWN family to tend to as well. No one can give you a hard time for not going...and if there is still fussing going on, that is on them. You've been put in a difficult spot by their last minute changes. You had to make a compromise. It was not your choice to do so, but you have to make the best of it. Nobody could ask for more than that.

I got a story that just stinks too. My cousin...a real toot in my opinion...did not invite my children to her wedding. It was a no-kids thing. That's cool. I have great in-laws who babysat for the night while I went to Atlanta. Anyhoo. We go to the reception and there are 5-8 kids running around.

Huh? Turns out, she selectively invited children and mine didn't make the cut. Guess what else? She has never even seen my kids. Too bad for her. Because they adorable and gobs cuter thanher stinkers.

Hmmmm. Maybe I am the toot in this family!

Since everyone is talking about Donald Duck outfit, I am going to share mine although it is pretty simple, and I am not even sure if I like how it looks especially the bows. I just couldn't make a bow that looks right! I actually made this a while ago for our trip next month. DS is going to wear this for breakfast at Tusker house. Here he is modeling the outfit...
