Hi, I'm stepping out of lurkdom for a moment to post a shirt that I CASE'd. I got the criss cross pattern from YCMT and let my nieces pick any fabric for a matching shirt. I was delighted when they went with Minnie dot! Woo hoo! I only have one of the shirts done so far, I'll post the two girls together when I get the other one done.

With a shirt under it so she can wear it to school...

I love YCMT. It really helps newbies like me to have photos to go along with a pattern. I also made the handbag that everyone posted pics of awhile back. I never posted mine. It didn't turn out as cute as I wanted.

Back to lurkdom...:goodvibes

Very cute and she looks super happy with it!!! Great job!

You have no idea who else might want it? :rotfl: Give me a couple months and it is yours! :thumbsup2 DD left at halftime. It was not good. LOL She baked cookies instead. :)

Well we made two funnel cake runs, and my boys are diehard lacrosse fans. It was a wee bit painful if you were rooting for Navy. Your DD did the right thing by baking cookies! Hopefully by 2012 there will be a familur player out there that we all can root for:)

So I finally finished the FINAL outfit. I still have to pull the gathering threads for the smocking, so imagine that they are not there. I really just needed to be done today! Plus, I wanted to pack up my camera- we leave next Saturday. here is the final product.

That little glittery ball is supposed to represent Tinkerbell. It isn't the best, but I couldn't think of anything else.

ETA- I decided against doing all the detail work. Traditionaly smocking isn't super detailed. I though it might look funny if I did it (and then I wouldn't want to rip it out).

The smocking is awesome! I am a HUGE fan of smocking! The green plaid looks perfect too!

So I finally got the sewing machine set up and working right, figured out the bobbin and threading the needle. Yay me! And I started in on the Little Einsteins' criss cross dress for Erin. What do you think so far?

Einsteinsstart.jpg

Where is everyone getting lil' einstein fabric? Little just HAS to have a dress like the one made w/ carla C's simply sweet pattern w/ the embroidered rocket (she told me so when she saw it!) and i can't find any anywhere.

Rob-n-kris glad to have you back! Great job!

Steph. I liked the other top too... but this one suits the petti better. I think the satin ribbon gives a little more dressy feel. Good job.

I took pics of littles new dress (yes I did get something made over the weekend!) on DH's blackberry so I have to see if he can e-mail them to me ( i don't even know if that's possible:lmao: ) then I will post them, although they are not the best pics ever.

WELCOME home Theresa and Heather (and LYDIA!) wish you would've made it up this way too or that I had not been on house arrest while you were down. TOTALLY bummed me out!

BIG GIVE- I'm in. maybe you can pick a few examples out of our photobucket then we can fight over who does what that way we can make something she wants and something we are good at or have the fabric for. LMK what I can do.

I think this will be super cute!!!!

T-beri....If I'm not mistaken the Little Einstein fabric is from Hancock's.

I wanted to chime in quickly that I would love to participate somehow. I have been thinking of her family ever since hearing of the tragic news. I had thought way back about trying to do a collection for a sewing machine for her. I knew she had hand sewn the outfit and thought sewing might somewhat help her cope. I would love to make something for her darling daughter though!

Going to work on catching up with the thread after catching back up with my life! 10 days in California was SO nice! Now back to the real world!

I think this might be a way better idea. The folks here could anti up and send all the money to a pay pal address. THen buy her a fabric store gift card for some fabric, notions and a machine.

Even better some who want to make the sets can. THose who "don't sew" or don't have the time to could give this way.

"Big Give" Possibility/Opportunity!!!!

Hey did any of you watch Oprah's BIG GIVE when it was on? I thought it was a rather inspiring show, I really enjoyed it. I have an idea on how we might be able to help an old DisBoutiquer who lost her sweet baby boy in a tragic car accident last October. I haven't brought this up to her yet because I don't know if anyone will be interested in helping or not. I have never met this person in real life, as she is an online friend, but she is the sweetest and bravest person I know. She has been through a lot and I just wanna help anyway I can. She has an adorable 5 year old little girl and they are planning a trip to WDW in few months. I am hoping I can talk some of you into donating a Disney themed outfit for her little girl. What do you guys think?? Can we "GIVE BIG"????

(Like I said, I have not mentioned this to her yet as I wanted to see if any of you would be willing to help first. Please PM me if you are interested in this possibilty. If I get some takers I will talk to her and make sure it is okay with her and then get her daughters measurements. I am planning on making her a few things. Maybe some of you have some gently used Disney customs that are just her daughter's size???)

P.S. If this is not okay to post, I apologize. Let me know and I will remove it. Thank you all!!!!
I'm In!!! I think it is a super idea!!

No, it's just black cotton. I gave my niece's a wide range of cloth to pick from. Any of the $2 a yard cloths from Wally World! :thumbsup2

It looks really neat in the pictures!!!

I like this idea too, but instead of a gift card, could we just send her the Paypal money so she could spend it anywhere for the fabric and machine? Beth, are you up to organizing this too?

CINDEE!!! Corey taped over the Davy Jones concert!!!!! :scared1: Not all of it, but most of it!!!! :scared1: :scared1:

Last night, Brian called his brother, and spent about 2 hours telling him all about our trip!!! It was fun to hear Brian so excited about Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and the outfits I'd made!

And, he called the lady taking care of our cat, and apparently, he ran away this last week. She feels horrible, even though it was not her fault at all. She left a vent window open, when she went to work, and Foster jumped up 4 feet to the ceiling and tore open the screen and ran off. He has a nametag on, so I am hoping someone will find him and call.

For anyone that has made the criss cross dress: When you cut the fabric to make the skirt part, how wide did you cut it to make it a fuller skirt? I hope I said that right. I want a fuller skirt then what I think the 45" will do but not sure what the right amount would be.

Hi All!

I am popping int o say I am very interested in making an outfit or two for the big give.

I haven't been around much, as DH is almost definitely losing his job in 2 weeks, and things here are crazy while we try to figure things out. I have been cleaning and gettign things ready to start sewing full time to get us some more $$ through my sewing. Up until now, since we had a flood in my workroom, I have only been sewing sporadically and as more of a hobby. Now I need to get my sewing business back up and runnign adn start making some money again.

I have been skimming the boarsd, and everything looks awesome. I especially love the recent step-sisters and alice appliques. :thumbsup2

Also, Welcome home Teresa and Heather. Make sure to post when you start a tr.

First ...WELCOME BACK!!!

Second...This happened to my cat when I was little...I don't really remember, my Mom has told the story a million times...her friend was watching our cat while we were away, he darted out the back door of her house and a week or so later it showed back up at our house! I hope the same happens for you.

UPDATE ON THE "BIG GIVE" - SEWING STYLE!!!!

WOW YOU GUYS ARE TRULY AMAZING!!! I have received messages from a number of you willing to help out already. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This is going to be awesome as it feels so good to help!! I have wanted to do something special for Alicia since I heard about her losing her sweet little boy.

I contacted her last night and am just waiting to hear back from her now. Hopefully it will all be a go and we can start sewing. Besides measurements, I asked her whether she had any specific outfits she loved and who her daughter's favorite characters/princesses are. As soon as I hear back I will let all of you know.

Again, I really want to thank each of you who have offered to help in this "big give". I am really hoping it will bring smiles to both Alicia and her daughter Isabelle.

You guys ROCK!!!! :goodvibes :lovestruc  :cloud9:

If I could sew I would be IN! Seriously. Right this minute I wish I could sew more than anything. That is such a nice gesture and wonderful idea! How sad that she lost her son. I can't even imagine.

you are a good soul MouseTriper!:goodvibes It's a lovely idea!!

Aww you are a sweetie!!! I know I am far from a perfect seamstress, heck I wouldn't even call myself a seamstress, but I just had this idea hit me and I wanted to make it happen!!!

I think this would be great fun! After the baby comes, I think I could find the time to whip up something. I spent all day at the hospital today in pre-term labour. Just hoping this one hangs in a few more weeks.[/COLOR]

WOW...congratulations on your soon-to-be-baby!!! I will say a prayer that both your delivery and baby arrive when they should and that all will be fine.

Thank you so much for offering to help. I have added you to the list and will let you know when I hear back from Alicia.:goodvibes

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!! I'M IN JUST LET ME KNOW!!!!:yay:

LINNETTE

Thanks Linnette, you are a doll. Thank you SO MUCH!!! :goodvibes

Beth that sounds like a great idea. She use to post here sometimes. She made some amazing outfits by hand (she didn't have a sewing machine). I would love to participate. Hearing about her little boy just broke my heart, he was quite close in age to Sawyer, I can't imagine the heartache.

Thanks Teresa, you are right, she did handsew her outfits. I just thought this might be a great way for us to help ease what will probably be a bittersweet trip. I will let you know when I hear back from her.

I remember when that happened -- that was such a horrible tragedy.

While I am not the best seamstress, I would love to help out. One thing that I was thinking about is if someone else would be willing to do the sewing -- I would donate the Minnie Dot fabric for an outfit for her little girl. Just let me know what you find out.

BTW....Teresa Joy, is it her little girl in the ice cream cone outfit (yellow/purple pillowcase dress)? It was one of the very first (if not the 1st) ice cream outfit posted.

Hi Amy...thank you so much for offering to donate some fabric! Yes, you are thinking of the right child, that was her outfit. I have added you to the list as well. :goodvibes

Hey Jessica, I know what you mean. Her story just aches at my heart and I just really wanted to do something special. Thank you for offering to help out. You are a sweetie.

I had thought of doing the same thing about the sewing machine. Does anyone know if she is still interested in sewing? I too would still love to make something for her daughter though.
I know she has been really busy lately so I thought it would be awesome if we could make her daughter some customs so she wouldn't have to worry about finding the time to sew for this upcoming trip. I am sure this trip will be bittersweet in so many ways. I will find out whether she is still interested in sewing though. Again, thanks for offering to make her something!

Add me to the list, I would love to help. I could do outfits or bows or both! Just send me a pm and let me know what you need.

Oh you are a sweetie too, thank you so much!! You are on the list and as soon as I know the plan I will let you know. :lovestruc

Aww thanks t-beri, you rock! I did ask whether she had any favorite customs and who her daughter's favorite charcters and princesses are. You are on the list and as soon as I find out we can make a plan. Thanks so much!!!

Aww you are a sweetie as well. If people are interested in something like this too I will talk to her about it. I have a number of people who are willing to make outfits already too so I am hoping she gives us the go-ahead. I will keep you posted. Thank you!!

I'm In!!! I think it is a super idea!!

Hi Kelly....awww thank you soo much!!!!! I have added your name to the list. It truly is inspiring to see how many people want to help!!! :cloud9:

I like this idea too, but instead of a gift card, could we just send her the Paypal money so she could spend it anywhere for the fabric and machine? Beth, are you up to organizing this too?
Sure, if people want to help out in this way I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to talk to Alicia about it and organize it. Thank you!!!:cloud9:

Thank you! I'm not giving up yet, he once took a trip to a town about an hour away from us! I keep thinking I hear him, but when I open the door, he's not there. :sad2:

I just looked over Alicia's trip report, and it looks like she did buy herself a sewing machine. But, maybe she would appreciate some material and notions? And, I think it's always fun to get completed outfits you didn't make! Thank you so much Beth for organizing this!

Hi All!

I am popping int o say I am very interested in am,ing an outfit or two for the big give.

Hi Angela....THANK YOU!!! This is so sweet of you two. I have added your name to the list as well. I will keep you posted.

I am so sorry to hear about your DH's job!!! I will say a prayer that everything works out for you and your family!

I can not keep up lately, I'm afraid I will have to go to lurker status for now. Both the kids got some kind of stomach bug and had fevers. The baby broke out in red spots after her fever. One good thing is we having been enjoying some cuddle time and watching some movies. :cloud9: The kids have still been pretty active so it hasn't slowed them down too much.
Plus I got two new clients so work has been busy too.
Oh I did get to watch Napoleon Dynamite- It was pretty funny. I laughed out loud quite a few times. :happytv:
Oh and my grammy sewed a dress for sophia that I had cut out. I will post pictures when we get it. She tried it on yesterday, Grammy is going to sew the straps down and it will be done. It's made of that green pooh toile-ish fabric.
