Here's my latest creation. We never seem to have the perfect outfit for downtown Disney, so I decided to create this one. I found the applique designs on YCMT and just altered them. The little mickey head on the girls shirt, and on the purse is a button. I'm happy with how it came out. It was fun to make, except that word Downtown. It took me a while to applique all of that.

WOW - very impressive. It is BEAUTIFUL! SO much detail!! You sure have patience, but it was worthwhile, WOW!

Are there any printable 40% off coupons out there for Jo-Ann's. I DESPERATELY need thread (ran out of the "good stuff" and had some of the cheapo walmart stuff, um, it is terrible. . . I think I am going to toss it), so I am going to go, but would love to have a coupon for some fabric :) TIA! OR do they take competitors coupons (like acmoore, michaels, etc).

It's GONE, thankfully!! I really hope it stays away until December, at least. It was about 70 degrees out yesterday- it was wonderful!! Tessa was trying to see if the blossoms on our ***** willow tree smelled good. :)
:rotfl:

Hehehehe....I'm just teasin' ya! Glad you have nicer weather. From your pictures it looks like you guys have a beautiful yard!!! :goodvibes

Does anyone remember when Aleene's had there own show and they had books out and then came the line of products? This glue made me think of that. I remember watching their show all the way back in the early '90's

I remember that show! I used to love all those crafty shows. I actually have some Tack it Over & Over somewhere. I used it on some ribbon one year to make the stripped trim on Han Solo's pants for dh fo Halloween. That stuff stick REALLY well.

I just finished a dress for Jenna. This dress is for her to wear while we are driving to WDW. I was in Hancock Fabrics the other day and the lady that was cutting the fabric showed it to me. I thought it was really cute. I thought this fabric is just screaming to become a little girl's dress.
th_S2010138.jpg

This is the detail at the bottom of the dress.
th_S2010140.jpg

It's a Daisy Kingdom fabric.

That's a perfect roadtrip outfit! :)

Ok here is the sorta of copied shirt.
th_S2010141.jpg

I made this last night.
Here is the dress that I made using fabric that Disneymommieof2 gave me.
th_S2010142.jpg

Thanks again. Jenna loves the dress and the fishies.
And here is a pic of the love seat that we bought. The couch looks the same just longer.
th_S2010143.jpg

I feel horrible today, so tomorrow I am going to try to get an appointment to see my doctor and see what I need to do to shake this cold that I have had for about 3 months now.

Love the applique! Nice work with the trim on the shirt to coordinate with the fabric. :)

Hope you're feeling better soon. Please get yourself to the doctor or ER before it becomes unbearable.

I just finished my 1st sewing class (Im such the novice still:lmao: ) but this is exactly what I wanted to make for my twin girls for our trip this fall, can you tell me how you made the mickey head? I was looking for zebra or leopard fabric to do mine but Im scared:scared1: lol!

Anyway, Ive been following this amazing thread since I found it a few days ago & figured nows as good a time as any to jump in & say hi even though I only have a pair of elastic waist pj bottoms & a sundress under my belt!:flower3:

Good for you! I've been sewing most of my life, but not much the past few years. These threads are inspiring me. Now, I just need time to create the inspirations! *LOL*

Thank you for the link for the futon covers I'll see if I feel brave enough to tackle that project....

Today I have the most horrible migraine headache, I've been taking excedrin by the handful, but decided to do some sewing ...headache, vomit and all...(sorry to be so graphic:scared1:)

I was able to complete a sundress for myself and another handbag for a friend (this handbag business is now getting out of control as "friends" call me for a free custom made handbag BTW with special request:confused3 ...the nerve of some people :sad2: )

The fabric for the sundress I bought it for 1.00 a yard, my husband said that it looked like curtain fabric:confused3 so now I am self conscious about it,
will you wear this in public...

Ooh, I'm posting up a storm tonight!

Okay, so we are hopefully going to WDW in Sept. after the baby comes (if I keep my nerves up!). And of course I'm worrying about customs. Now I know I don't have time to do customs for every ride (like some of you!!!). But I do have several meals planned with ADR's and of course will need customs for them.

Crystal Palace - Winnie The Pooh dress (already have the fabric)

Cinderella's Royal Table - I think I want a Cinderella appliqued dress for this (already bought the bows and some fabric possibly unless I change my mind)

Chef Mickey's - I would love to do a skirt (kind of like LisaZoe's Winnie the Pooh one) where I stripwork it and put different characters on every other panel (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy). How many panels are usually done on these? Can I squeeze in Pluto? Or is five too many? Or maybe I'll just stick to a Minnie Dot outfit for here. WIth a matching shirt of course!

Askershus - I would like to do a skirt like the one for Chef Mickey's but with a different princess for each panel.........has anyone done anything like this? I'm thinking Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Belle, and Ariel. Again with a matching shirt.

Of course that leaves a Minnie Dot outfit, Friends Around The World outfit, maybe a JoJo outfit (I do have the Hollywood and Vine breakfast w/ characters scheduled too.......) possibly a Nemo outfit, and Animal Kingdom outfit.

If anyone has any of the panel skirts and shirts that I could CAB and would like to share the pictures I would appreciate it! Any helpful ideas are also appreciated.

Your ideas sound terrific. Your biggest issue will be finding appropriate prints with a small enough repeat to be able to make small clothing. If it's too large, it will just get lost in the strip piecing.

One of the things I've seen in these threads and really like is the daytime version of princess dresses. They're made of cotton and are shorter with shorts or capris under them and much more suitable for the parks than the costumes. They use the same colors and general styling of the princess gowns, but "everyday" it. :)

If you did this............

How would go about fixing it?

My seam ripper slipped when opening button holes.:sad1: :sad1: I'm so upset, I didn't make any mistakes on the rest of the shirt.

Thanks, Emily

Another possibility would be to make a placket and apply it over the buttonhole area--or remove the buttonhole area and replace it with the placket. You could use the same or coordinating fabric.

The easiest fix would be what the has already been suggested.

Oh! And add a buttonhole cutter to your wishlist! :)

Happy Birthday! So glad that he lets you sew for him still! That shirt is something my son would love!

Regular Walmart's (for the most part) do not have fabric departments anymore, but super walmart'd do. I would call the nearby super walmarts. You can also go to Jo-Ann fabric's, they always have 40% off coupons you can print on their website.

Our super walmarts around here are doing away with them, hoping for them to come back, so it isn't just regular walmarts. We don't even have regular walmarts anymore.

I meant to say that those that still have them tend to be super walmarts, which is why I suggested calling the local super walmarts - to see which have them. One of ours does have it and the other doesn't. . . so please to check before hand :)

What a cutie! I love his new shirt- great job!!

I am a little worried about my headache as I have shunts (VP and LPs) to alleviate pressure in the brain I already have 7 surgeries in the past 5 years and this shunts keep failing... I guess if by sunday I still have the pain I will go to the Hospital...Well I am not going to stress...like my friend Dori will say just keep sewing, just keep sewing, just keep sewing , sewing, sewing.....

It sounds like you need to go to the doctor now instead of waiting!

I love the shirts!

I've been reading all your posts and love all the creations I've seen. I finally decided I would setup a little sewing space in my basement. I decided I'd just start with some pillowcase dresses and off to Walmart I went for material. Well, it's been awhile since I've been to Walmart - and I was told they no longer sell fabric:confused3 . Guess I'm out of the loop as usual.

So where do I go for inexpensive disney fabric?
Do you have any more WalMarts around you? Some of them still carry fabric.

Regular Walmart's (for the most part) do not have fabric departments anymore, but super walmart'd do. I would call the nearby super walmarts. You can also go to Jo-Ann fabric's, they always have 40% off coupons you can print on their website.
We have 4 WalMarts around us and the only one without fabric is a Super Walmart. The one with the best selection isn't a Super Walmart! I wonder if it's just a local thing.

What a great idea!!! It's SUPER cute!

HeatherSue! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?! I'm SHOCKED!;) We had a neighbor that used to shove "kitty willows" up his nose and race his brother to see who could the most up there...they were in the ER a lot.

big surprise...
:rotfl2: I used to be a nanny for a little boy who liked to shove sand in his ears- the more the better. He was only 18 months old when he did this and thankfully he outgrew it.

Baby is being nice! Hopefully I'll slow down on my weight gain though. I've put on 10 pounds in the last 8 weeks and I'm not happy about it! I really want to stay around 25 pounds and I've already gained 16. I have 10-11 weeks left (they will induce me early since my babies are big) so hopefully I can stay in that range. I go to the doctor today.....it's time for that yucky Glucose test! I hate that stuff! I was supposed to go yesterday (first thing in the morning) but my DH scheduled himself somewhere else so I didn't have anyone to watch the girls so I had to reschedule myself for today at 11:15 and I am starving (since you have to fast before you take it)! I hate this stuff! Oh well, as long as the baby is healthy I can stand to miss a meal (or 2 or 3!).

I wanted to stay around 25 pounds with Sawyer, like I did with Tessa. However, my body had other ideas and I gained 40lbs. Oh well, all that matters is that you're healthy and the baby is healthy! I'm glad the baby is being good for you! ;)

Yuck, the glucose stuff I had to drink for Tessa was FOUL! The stuff for Sawyer was much better, not as thick. Hopefully you'll have the not as awful stuff today!

Heather-so funny that you got censored!! BTW - It is a beautiful 76 degrees here in metro-Detroit!!

Love this!! It's so stinkin' cute, and it's something even older girls can wear!! Maybe even a mommy and me set!

Just an FYI - Joann's has thread 50% off right now. And most of their fabrics are on sale too. They're having a big sale. I know this because Ihave been to different ones almost every day this week!! Yikes!!

Heather-so funny that you got censored!! BTW - It is a beautiful 76 degrees here in metro-Detroit!

Isn't this weather wonderful?! We've been playing outside most of the morning. It's 70 degrees and sunny here! I've been walking around like a dork with my capris rolled up and my sleeves rolled up, trying to get a tan on my blindingly white arms and legs.

Hey everyone! thanks for all the great compliments on my hair! Oh, and Steph, we cannot be twins, beause then I'd have to be the "smart" one, and I was the "smart" one all growing up, if YKWIM.

I'm really touched by how wonderful you all are here.  In college, I used to be barked at and I actually got taken as a date to one of those "Dog parties" or whatever they're called...you know what I am talking about?? the parties where the guy with the UGLIEST DATE wins? yeah. And I was 50 lbs lighter then, too.

I promised my Dh I would let my hair grow for at least another year. I had been cutting it with the beard trimmer for about 8 months before I started to let it grow out this past July. It's hard to get used to actually having to brush my hair in the morning....I used to just wash, towel dry, toss in some texturizing gel, and go. Now, I even own a hair dryer!! :rotfl2:

I love everything everyone has posted! I have sooo much to CASE when I get home!!

Oh, adn whoever made the black and white dress that her DH said looks like curtains.....I live just outside of NYC. That kind of fabric is the LATEST THING here, and a lot is made of it. I would pay LOTS of money to find a dress with that fabric in my size....and start charging your friends...at least the cost of the fabric and supplies. hey are takign advantage of you. That's why I started my business....EVERYONE wanted a bag, and I was not getting any of MY stuff done.

have a GREAT WEEK everyone!!

I just got back from the doctor. I think I feel worse now than I did last night. She said it was just sinuses, but she was genuinely concerned about how red my throat is. If it doesn't clear up she wants be back in the office to find out what it is caused by. She did my blood preassure and looked in my chart and saw that it had been a little high the last time I was there and since it was a little high this time she gave me blood preassure medicine. So hopefully I will start feeling better soon. Thanks for all the well wishes and for the compliments on the stuff that I have made. Ya'll are too kind.

Chef Mickey's - I would love to do a skirt (kind of like LisaZoe's Winnie the Pooh one) where I stripwork it and put different characters on every other panel (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy). If anyone has any of the panel skirts and shirts that I could CAB and would like to share the pictures I would appreciate it! Any helpful ideas are also appreciated.

I was thinking for the Chef Mickey outfit, why not put Mickey on the shirt or make a stripwork jumper and put him on the bodice. Then have the other characters on the skirt. Here's a couple of Mickey Mouse cooking pics:
clipmickc1.jpg

clipmickcook1.jpg

You could do the same with Askerhus-just pick her favorite princess to stand alone on the top or bodice and put the others on the skirt.

Our super walmarts around here are doing away with them, hoping for them to come back, so it isn't just regular walmarts. We don't even have regular walmarts anymore.

My Wal-Mart just closed their fabric department and when I went back home to Alabama a few weeks ago, I asked one of the ladies there if it would be closing and she said that eventually all Wal-Mart fabric departments will close whenever that store does its remodeling. This particular Wal-Mart at one time was the absolute largest they had and I believe it is still one largest out there. So I'm guessing it just depends on when they all do the remodel. The Florence store that I was at had done a remodel around a year or so ago, so it may be a while before they lose the fabric department.
