Angela, you look hot! I just got my hair cut too, we could be twins!

ummmm okay when you say "plucked" please tell me you mean "rescued"...he didn't...y'know...pluck them to their little bunny deaths did he?! He rescued them right? Ran with them towards the nearest bunny hotel and deposited them safely and soundly to live out their little bunny lives...right?

I just hope he didn't mistake the little bunnies as y'know...badgers...

BJ mistakes my socks as badgers a lot. He's pretty ruthless with them...and sometimes my feet are INSIDE the socks when he attacks them!

he's trying to protect me! Y'know...from a badger...

*ahem*

;)

BTW-That purple outfit IS supposed to be a dress...it just *looks* more like PJ's...which is SO Disney's design mistake!

Um, when I sent my husband out to clean up, he called the scene "carnage" so rescue is not the word I would use. :sad2:

Scrappy attacks Megan's stuffed animals; they pose more of real threat than socks. He also kills lizards to play with their wriggly tails. He's a psychopath, I tell you.

My mother is deeply offended that he is not sticking to badgers. I had to send her a wikipedia article to prove to her that miniature dachshunds were also bred to hunt rabbits. I think it is our fault. We bought him these squeaky balls that he loves. I have recently noticed that the squeak of the ball resembles the squeak rabbits make when they are in distress (no one call peta, please, I didn't know, I swear).

I love it and would love to bid on it in a silent auction!!! Best of luck with it!

Thank you!

Cute! That fabric is adorable. She is going to have so much fun at the sleepover.

Prefect! I love those border prints and that one is especially cute: great job!

Stephers- LOVE the knife pleats. I vote sleepwear or loungewear!

2532109310050201308S425x425Q85.jpg

Thank you! Love the Ariel outfit. It makes me wish I sewed when my daughter was little like that. I think the minnie kid looks cute either way. Good luck with the trimming!

Cute! I love the silhouette.

I feel the same way, even since we got back from Disney. Just worn out and achy, like a cold but it won't go away. I thought I was just tired and allergies were bad, but I just can't shake it. I hope they find out what's wrong at the doctor and you're feeling like yourself soon. I'm right behind you!

Love the Pooh outfit and this one made from a shower curtain is so stinkin' cute! I made a jumper with those overall clips and thought the material was a little too lightweight for it. I bet the shower curtain fabric is perfect. Love it!

Do you use a pattern for the jumper? When I made I kind of winged it, but I wished I had a pattern.

It is a dress. We sell it at our store and it doesn't have the tag that the pj's have. People ask all the time if they are pjs.

Ahhh, an expert! Thank you, I was almost positive that it was supposed to be but after the third time of my husband questioning it, I wasn't sure. It think it is going to be "loungewear" from now on, like someone suggested.

Today I have the most horrible migraine headache, I've been taking excedrin by the handful, but decided to do some sewing ...headache, vomit and all...(sorry to be so graphic:scared1:)

th_2008_04170026.jpg

 I hope you feel better soon! I love the sundress and would most certainly wear it: it doesn't look like curtains at all!

The bags are great and charge those freeloaders!

The sock curl is really easy. After washing your daughters hair, dry it until it's just barely damp, put in some hair product of your choice, gel, mousse, whatever...I usually use nothing. And you take a bunch of socks, and wind sections of hair around the socks and when you get up to her head, you just tie the ends of the socks together. It reminds me of when my grandmother used to do rag curls on us when we were little. The socks are great, because they absorb the excess dampness in the hair, and they aren't too bad to sleep on. In the morning....wa-la, curly hair...:cutie:

I would also suggest that mommy-sized socks work better than little girl-sized. It was much harder to knot the little socks. It only took me her whole head filled with little socks to figure that out!

Hey, I brought the monkey dress into school today and one of the moms who happened to be in the office said, that's so stinkin' cute! I almost fell out! But wait, do you think she reads here (hi Cindy, just in case!)? :confused3

OKay I made this dress today. Let's see if anyone can guess what it was before it was a dress!
crabby11.jpg

****
Was that a shower curtain??? I've seen that fabric before?!

I bought some princess fleece today and it says on it that it is for Non commercial use only in bold latters. lol, I have never noticed this before. Is it something new or has it always said that on the shelvage? It does not matter cause it is for my dd for a hoodie but I thought it was odd cause I have not seen that before.

Most licensed prints say that as well as some "designer" prints, such as those by Amy Butler and Nancy Wolff. There's quite a bit of discussion about this on various sewing boards but the general consensus is that it can be used for items to be sold as long as the person selling the items bought the fabric retail. There may be more constraints on wholesale purchases, probably to prevent manufacturers from just buying fabric at wholesale prices to use it rather than working to get their own license to produce the character items.

There's something called the "first sale doctrine" that applies to people who buy retail - basically as long as you bought it, you can resell it in another form because you really aren't changing the nature of the licensed item, in this case fabric. Of course that doesn't mean the companies won't still go after people selling things made with the licensed goods but with the Internet, people have more access to information to help them defend themselves. People selling things made with licensed fabric do need to be careful about how they describe the item. For example, they can't say it's a Mickey Mouse top but instead say it's a top made with Mickey Mouse fabric.

BTW - I'm by no means a lawyer so I'm only giving my understanding of this.

This one's for you, Karebear!!

And pictures like this is why I will ALWAYS be on the kid's side....... no matter what! Isn't she a sweetheart?? I'm telling you moms and dads right now..... no matter what your kid does- I'm On their side! :lovestruc: So don't come complainin' to me when you think they've done something wrong- cause there ain't nobody that can convince me they have!

Kids.............. ya just gotta love 'em!

you can buy it here.

Does anyone remember when Aleene's had there own show and they had books out and then came the line of products? This glue made me think of that. I remember watching their show all the way back in the early '90's
Thanks! It might be easier to find now that I know what it looks like!

I haven't caught up on the last few days, so sorry I'm skipping so much! But, here's what I've been working on. These 5 shirts are for Tessa and my nieces to wear when my mom wears her pink Mickey button-up shirt.
Sorry it's so blurry:

I used the top half of the portrait peasant top and the bottom half of the a-line jumper, both by CarlaC. I didn't put elastic in the sleeves, to give it a flirty sleeve (had nothing to do with the fact that I'm really lazy).

OOOH!!! We LOVE THEM!!!! Arminda is very excited!!! She tried posting, but couldn't get logged on. Tessa sure does look pretty!

It is Carla's sweet dress jumper top with Carla's a-line attached.

th_IMG_0433.jpg

That is so cute Stephanie!!! I love the matching purse!

I must have missed the directions for Ireland's sock curls! Are they in the bookmarks?
I will put them there now! Sorry about that!

Love that zebra outfit! Very cute!

OK, so yesterday was Crazy Hair day at the kids' school, so I feel the need to share!

Here's Caleb sporting his fauxhawk:
th_crazyhaircaleb.jpg

and here's Ella - her hair is naturally on the crazy side, so I tried to just pouf it out as much as I could.
th_crazyhairella.jpg
They are so cute!!! Caleb looks very cool in his fauxhawk!!!
here is the zebra outfit on. It is a little big, but should fit by Nov.

th_DSC00418.jpg

BTW I would love instructions for Ireland's sock curls too. Her hair is always sooo cute!
I love it!!! The pants really look cute with it!!! I love AK outfits!
This is not finished yet - I still have to go buy buttons for it. i am going to share the pictures anyway since dd wanted me to take pictures of her as soon as I got her to try it on. I use McCall's 3949 for the dress, and I really like how it turned out.
th_IMG_4580p.jpg

Jenny
Very pretty Jenny!!!! I love that fabric!

alright. here's the rough draft of my Giselle outfit.
I'm holding the underskirt (pink and white part) because I haven't finished them.

th_giselle1.jpg

Yes, I am in my tub. It's the easiest place to take pictures.
Wow!! That is so cool that you are making one for yourself!!!! You go! I haven't seen a picture of you in awhile! Nice to see you making something!

HI everyone! I am about 30 pages behind right now!!

I just wanted to post a pic of my new haircut. I think I look cute, and I haven't looked cute since I was 8 months old....I guess I'm finally out of that awkward stage.

th_DSCN0892-1.jpg

I figure, by the time I get back, we'll be on to part 5, and I'll have plenty of time to catch up on this thread.

Have a great week!!
Angela, you look FABULOUS!!! That is such a cute cut!

Thank you so much for taking the time to take a pic for me! I wanted to do fluff like that, but i was so afraid that it may fray and eventually be nothing left! Ash wants one so i may try it next time, after i get a ruffler of course!
Melissa

You are very welcome!!! I was extremely nervous to post a picture of my hands. I have "hand issues"! I think they are so ugly!! A friend in middle school once told me I have guy hands.

Not that I hold onto things like that and don't let them go.....

I tried to figure out how I could get a good picture without my hands in it, but couldn't! Yep, I have issues too!

I finally made something for DD! It's a pair of PJs for a sleepover that she is going to this weekend (plus matching headband...thanks for the link!). You can't see the details too well in this picture but the top has a ruffle along the bottom.
th_DSC05572.jpg
!
Your daughter is adorable as are the jammies!!! I love the fabric too!

I just finished a dress for Jenna. This dress is for her to wear while we are driving to WDW. I was in Hancock Fabrics the other day and the lady that was cutting the fabric showed it to me. I thought it was really cute. I thought this fabric is just screaming to become a little girl's dress.
th_S2010138.jpg

that is so cute Crystal!!! That fabric is great!
Photos of Ariel outfit-I wasn't feeling too hot today (despite the GORGEOUS 75 degree weather) so I didn't get started on the birthday outfit- it will have to wait for tomorrow. It isn't photographing very well for me today.

here is the Minnie Dot outfit from ebay

Cute Ariel! I love the ruffled edge!!!

I think the Minnie looks cute either way. I still think she should have offered you a partial refund!

I hope you get to feeling better.

Ok here is the sorta of copied shirt.
th_S2010141.jpg

I made this last night.
Here is the dress that I made using fabric that Disneymommieof2 gave me.
th_S2010142.jpg

Thanks again. Jenna loves the dress and the fishies.

I feel horrible today, so tomorrow I am going to try to get an appointment to see my doctor and see what I need to do to shake this cold that I have had for about 3 months now.
Sorry you are feeling sick! I hope the doctor can help you.

I love the Mickey Minnie shirt!! That is so adorable!

The dress is really pretty. It reminds me of some pants that Corey had as a little baby. A very dear elderly friend bought them for him. I was just looking at them last night. They are in the box of special items that I keep. My friend has been gone for quite a few years now, and it's nice to have the reminder of her. And, thanks for posting the dress and making me think of her again.

th_crabby11.jpg

lol, In the picture above, Olivia is using her teeny tiny pretend finger camera to take a picture :) She is such a ham. lol Candice

So cute!!! I love the teeny tiny camera!!! Olivia is too adorable!!!

The fabric for the sundress I bought it for 1.00 a yard, my husband said that it looked like curtain fabric so now I am self conscious about it,
will you wear this in public...

th_2008_04170026.jpg

Linnette
I love the dress! I think it is really pretty. I would wear that if I could!

Angela, you look hot! I just got my hair cut too, we could be twins!
Pictures? :confused3

Um, when I sent my husband out to clean up, he called the scene "carnage" so rescue is not the word I would use.

Scrappy attacks Megan's stuffed animals; they pose more of real threat than socks. He also kills lizards to play with their wriggly tails. He's a psychopath, I tell you.

I thought of you and Scrappy this morning Steph! While Arminda was waiting for the bus, a little bunny was running across our yard, with Foster (our cat) in hot pursuit right behind it!! Thankfully, our cat listens to me pretty good, and when I called him, he stopped! Arminda scolded him all the way to the bus though. She informed me when she got home that she saw the bunny running through her friend's yard, so she knew he was ok. Thank goodness!!! I can only imagine the trauma that would have ensued if Foster had caught that bunny in front of Arminda! :scared1:

We bought him these squeaky balls that he loves.

If you are missing one, I saw one in you kitchen, I think it was almost under your cabinet, just to the right of your fridge. ;)

:rotfl:

So cute! We were due for some Tessa pics! I had to go to photobucket the other day for Luke
:lmao: We have the picture of Luke with the card saved on our computer. Tessa likes to look at it. ;)

I love it!! She is SOO pretty!

Hey Skinny Minnie! Do tell, what is so much easier about taking pictures in the tub??? :rotfl2:

Your Giselle outfit is going to be fabulous!!

Hee, poor Scrappy. He plucked the remaining bunnies out of the hole, so we are bunny-less.
Poor Scrappy? How 'bout those poor bunnies!?

WOW! I love your haircut! I hate my hair right now. I really would like to cut it short again. But, it irritates Henry that as soon as my hair gets long, I like to chop it all off again. So, I've kept it long for quite a while now. I'd say it's time for a change...

Okay, I just have to share my irritation... I was all set to actually make something for me for a change. I have the fabric, the zipper, the interfacing, everything I need! Except the right size pattern....

Why, oh why are the sizes so wonky? I recalled that they tend to run small and that I would need a bigger size than usual, but I wear a 4-6 in the stores, so I ASSumed that surely the size 4-10 pattern would be just fine... Ugh.. I am between a 12 and a 14. And looking at the sizing for the smaller sizes, I'd just like to know who the heck wears those sizes! The size 4 (and yes, this is MISSES) has the exact same waist measurements as a toddler size 4 at Pumpkin Patch..

So now I STILL have to go back to JoAnn's before I can start my pants...
This is why I haven't made anything for myself yet! I made that shirt for my mom in a size 22. She usually wears a 14!! Then, the sleeves were way too small, so I had to make them bigger. The sizing is rediculous on patterns!

I HATE that! It's why I'm scared to try new patterns. I made Lily a dress once--one of the first things I made her. I think I made a size 3. I think it will fit her when she is 6. It will be in the closet for a LONG time!
Or, it could fit her when she's 15. Not that I know about such things. Right, Corey? :rolleyes1

Cute, cute, cute!! I like the pajamas, too!

How adorable!

should I clip the threads or leave them?
I'd be askeered to clip the threads and ruin the applique. I do like the applique with the crazy hair, though. Did she give you a discount on this since she forgot to clip them herself?

I LOVE the Mickey/Minnie silhouette shirt. It's absolutely adorable!!
The fishy dress is too cute!
Your new couch is really cool!

That dress is SO cute and Olivia is adorable!!

I just finished my 1st sewing class (Im such the novice still:lmao: ) but this is exactly what I wanted to make for my twin girls for our trip this fall, can you tell me how you made the mickey head? I was looking for zebra or leopard fabric to do mine but Im scared:scared1: lol!

Anyway, Ive been following this amazing thread since I found it a few days ago & figured nows as good a time as any to jump in & say hi even though I only have a pair of elastic waist pj bottoms & a sundress under my belt!
I hate to be redundant ;) , but here's a link to my applique tutorial, if you want to learn to applique (like the zebra Mickey head):
http://disboutique.blogspot.com/2008/04/bestest-applique-tutorial.html

:welcome: to our not-so-little group! It seems like it would be rather uncomfortable to walk around with pj bottoms and a sundress under your belt, but whatever floats your boat!:rotfl2: Oh, I cracky myself up.

That is a gorgeous dress! I do so wish I had the shape to wear something like that!

Lots of us (myself anyway!) are beginners. Some people have only been sewing less than a year and have gotten so good (HeatherSue !) and are so talented!
 Thank you, Benita!! How are you feeling? Is the baby being nice?

And pictures like this is why I will ALWAYS be on the kid's side....... no matter what! Isn't she a sweetheart?? I'm telling you moms and dads right now..... no matter what your kid does- I'm On their side! :lovestruc: So don't come complainin' to me when you think they've done something wrong- cause there ain't nobody that can convince me they have!

Kids.............. ya just gotta love 'em!
I've really no idea what you're talking about! Isn't it obvious from that sweet, angelic, face that Tessa can do no wrong?

Okay, I really had to MAKE my fingers type that. My brain didn't compute.:rotfl:

Okay, I have been to every fabric store within driving distance for 2 days and have not found hardly ANY Disney fabric. :confused3
I did compromise and bought one Mickey fabric from Walmart. I cannot find ANY princess fabric....Where do you find it all? I am so clueless..... I have even looked online and apparently I am just not looking on the right spot....Please help a newbie....Lead me oh wise ones!:teacher:

:flower3: Please.
I buy my fabric from Wal-Mart and Hancock Fabrics. They seem to the largest selection. Hobby Lobby around here has some, but not much and their prices are way higher.

We have our school carnival tomorrow and I am donating this for the silent auction. I made a practice one and gave it to Megan, so that's why it looks familiar. I told a friend of mine to bid on it (I made it her daughter's size) so my feelings wouldn't get hurt if no one liked it.

It is Carla's sweet dress jumper top with Carla's a-line attached.

th_IMG_0433.jpg
Very cute! I like the jumper/a-line combo and the knife pleats!

I am planning it for animal kingdom for our Nov. trip. I will pick up a white long sleeve tee later in case it is cold.

OK, so yesterday was Crazy Hair day at the kids' school, so I feel the need to share!
SO cute!!!

This is not finished yet - I still have to go buy buttons for it. i am going to share the pictures anyway since dd wanted me to take pictures of her as soon as I got her to try it on. I use McCalls 3949 for the dress, and I really like how it turned out.

Love that dress!

Mine must have been cheaper than yours! They were only .99 ! :thumbsup2
I paid $6.59.

Great fabric! I bought the same Pooh fabric at my Joanns on clearance, and the Nemo fabric was on sale at my Hancock couple months ago. Can't wait to see what you make!
Thanks!

I finally made something for DD! It's a pair of PJs for a sleepover that she is going to this weekend (plus matching headband...thanks for the link!). You can't see the details too well in this picture but the top has a ruffle along the bottom.

I just finished a dress for Jenna. This dress is for her to wear while we are driving to WDW. I was in Hancock Fabrics the other day and the lady that was cutting the fabric showed it to me. I thought it was really cute. I thought this fabric is just screaming to become a little girl's dress.

That shirt is so cute! Hope you're feeling better!:wizard:

OKay I made this dress today. Let's see if anyone can guess what it was before it was a dress! lol, I am always using different things and turning them into clothing. I like "different" fabrics and they are so hard to find anymore. Even online :(

th_crabby11.jpg
Cute dress! Olivia is so cute!!!!

I was able to complete a sundress for myself and another handbag for a friend (this handbag business is now getting out of control as "friends" call me for a free custom made handbag BTW with special request:confused3 ...the nerve of some people :sad2: )

The fabric for the sundress I bought it for 1.00 a yard, my husband said that it looked like curtain fabric:confused3 so now I am self conscious about it,
will you wear this in public...

Jenny
It looks very pretty!!
Before I got my Kenmore serger (Xmas Present in the early '90s) I would finish all exposed seams in the following manner. I would sew the first seam at the 5/8 seam allowance, then run a second seam 1/4 inch away from the first seam within the seam allowance. Then I would cut off the excess fabric to the second line of stitching, then I would zig zag stitch over the cut edge.
Although this method is labor intensive it is well worth the effort. The guides that come with a commercial pattern ASSUMES that you know how to finish the seams. Or they will tell you to "trim the seam" let's say around a neck line or armhole, they again assume you know that the seams should be trimmed in a "graded"fashion with one layer of fabric a bit longer than the other so the seam will lay flat. and then it is a toss-up whether they mention that that same seam needs to be clipped to just before the stitching or it will never lay flat at all. The best purchase for beginners or someone who hasn't sewn since"Junior High" Home EC class would be a basic sewing book. Singer makes some great books....I have several and some still refer back to at times...Nana
Thanks for all the tips!!
alright. here's the rough draft of my giselle outfit.

Love it!! Very creative!! Thank you for sharing!!! Nope I'm not on yahoo

Welcome!!! definitely check out heathers tutorial!!
I don't think it looks like curtains!! what do those dh's know anyway :rotfl: The hand bag is so cute- I love bags!!

I was at the store tonight and they had the juice pouches on sale! So I'm going to give it a try, well as soon as someone drinks 30 juice pouches!! :lmao:
I was also at Joann and walmart I saw none of the pirate skull fabric that someone was asking about- sorry! I of course could not get out of the store with out buying something and I had to look hard to use the 50% off coupon!! Which I ended up using a on buttons. I did buy some tutti fruiti to make a couple more rompers. I also got a couple mc calls patterns. And at walmart I bought some more towels and a couple clearance placemats to make baskets.
I guess we are lucky up here in MN because there is disney fabric at all of the walmarts, hancocks, and Joann. If anyone needs me to pick up some just pm me.

:welcome: to our not-so-little group! It seems like it would be rather uncomfortable to walk around with pj bottoms and a sundress under your belt, but whatever floats your boat!:rotfl2: Oh, I cracky myself up.

:

Thanks Heather! :lmao: Im on the 2nd sundress now, I wish I'd picked a pattern w/out gathering, but Im sure I'll get the hang of it!

I love your tutorial, thanks so much for the help! I will have to attempt my 1st applique w/ the kids out of the house to avoid all the interruptions I had just trying to read it!:rotfl:

Love all the creations here, great thread ladies!

If you did this............

How would go about fixing it?

My seam ripper slipped when opening button holes.:sad1: :sad1: I'm so upset, I didn't make any mistakes on the rest of the shirt.

Thanks, Emily

You are very welcome!!! I was extremely nervous to post a picture of my hands. I have "hand issues"! I think they are so ugly!! A friend in middle school once told me I have guy hands.

Not that I hold onto things like that and don't let them go.....

I tried to figure out how I could get a good picture without my hands in it, but couldn't! Yep, I have issues too!

:scared1:

If you are missing one, I saw one in you kitchen, I think it was almost under your cabinet, just to the right of your fridge. ;)

:rotfl:

1) Isn't it funny how those things stick with us? I had a boyfriend in college who told me I had the kind of body that looked better in clothes. Every time I put on swimsuit I think about it. :headache: Your hands look perfectly normal to me. I think we are way too hard on ourselves.

2) Poor Arminda! I'm glad your kitty didn't disect a bunny in front of her.

3) You cracky me up! :rotfl2: I had go back and look at all my pictures to find it! He has about five balls, so they are everywhere.

Very cute! I like the jumper/a-line combo and the knife pleats!

Thank you!

Oh no! I am so sorry! What I would do is put fraycheck on it, that should keep it from fraying. Then I would hand-stitch it back together with the same color thread as the fabric. It's in the back right? It shouldn't be too noticable.

There is a very big JoAnn's store in Alpharetta that has had Disney Fabrics. I have also found it at the JoAnn's near Town Center Mall. Douglasville's JoAnn's had some pink princess fabric and some Toy Story fabric the last time I was in there. SOmetimes the stores sell it really quickly. Good Luck on your fabric Hunt!

Wow lots of great new dresses!

I have loved everything. I want to get some of that "driving" fabric.

I am stressing out today.

Remember my van accident? I think I posted this on the original thread way back in January. The truck driver pleaded not guilty, so I have to go to traffic court. I am so nervous, I have never been any kind of court what so ever. But I was subpoenaed and so was my husband so we have to go.

Questions for those of you making T-shirt dress - do you sew on the skirt with regular straight stitches, or do you use a zig zag stitch? Thanks!

Jenny

Both! I sew it on with a straight stitch because if there's an oops it's easier to fix. Then I go back and put in a zig-zag or overcast stitch. I tried doing it without, and the weight of the fabric in the skirt (1.5 yards!) kept popping the stitches.
