Disboutiquers Part 4ish Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes psst..we sew

I have a nice, normal countdown calendar. I took some poster board and cut it into the shape of a castle, complete with the open drawbridge door cut out. Then I glued it on top of a dry erase board where I can write in the count down each day. I embellished the castle and started counting - we count by the week until 30 days out, then we're allowed to go daily.

My Aunt Eve made my Mom a very unique, yet very Disboutique countdown calendar. She got a ton of Disney clip art, turned them into iron ons and made count down panties (y'know, like the days of the week ones you can buy). So, My mom has a set of underwear for the 30 days up until a trip - she sits on a different character each day!

Just some ideas for you...

The count down panties are a riot. :rotfl: I might just do that. Maybe for the month marks until we get down to weeks, then days. It would be a riot.

I got the Royal Princess Petticoat!!
After reading your posts, you know I had to go online and order it, but in the middle of the order I called our local mall, and they said they just got them in, and there were only 5 left. They were 24.50 each, and I got one for each girl. I wish I had more money I would have bought all they had.
They are full, but not Pettiskirt full. They have a satin-y layer on the inside, like a built in slip, so the girls can wear them as a skirt. Alexis says it's not scratchy, and of course she had to get pink shoes to go with it.

After taking the second picture, it actually makes my driveway look good.

That is so cute. I'm glad that I got one for Jenna.

The last time I stitched out just Mickey there were so many gaps in his ears I ended up using a Sharpie to fill in his ears. And the trademark Disney at the bottom of every design also detracts, don't you think? I used to think it was user error, but all of my free designs from the web are perfect so I know it's not just me!

Have you bought any of the additional Disney design cards? I wonder if they are as bad as the built-in designs?

Have you found free Disney designs online anywhere? All of mine I have had to purchase (on ebay). Would you mind posting, or PMing me where you find your designs? THANKS!

WOO HOO! So cute! I can't wait for mine to come in the mail now. I want to do a top, but I guess I should wait for it to get here so that I know it'll match. Thanks for posting a pic!

I recently bought the 250. It comes with Autopunch software and more decorative stitches. The autopunch will digitize, but it is a very simplified program. You can scan or save clipart, etc on your computer and it will turn it into an embroidery design. You could draw it as an outline only and turn it into applique. Once it automatically digitizes you don't have many editing options. Mainly you can change colors or skip sections. There is also a way you can create designs from scratch, but I haven't tried that yet. I took a digitizing class that used Viking 4D, and that gives MANY more options. I know there are a lot of other software options out there, but haven't yet looked into them. If you want to really get into digitizing, I would recommend the 150 and 3rd party software, but autopunch is also a good way to get started. The 350 simply comes with more software. The nice thing about futuras is they connect directly to your computer via USB cable. You don't have to move designs to and from memory cards, and it will read all types of software designs. I've been able to use my mil's viking designs, my aunt's brother designs, and those found on the internet to download.

HTH!
Heidi

Heidi, i just bought the Viking 4D program for my Designer SE. I want to look at it in depth this weekend. My dealer said that there's a way to change clip art into applique. I'm hoping it can do somersaults and back flips too because it costs a fortune!!!:rotfl:
I have the Brother 750D. It does beautiful embroidery but it only does embroidery-no sewing. While at the dealership last weekend, the manager showed me a new Disney embroidery card that has 5 x 7 designs!!!! It's called Big Magic. Of course, I had to buy it:lovestruc .This is so great because the others just stitched to 4 x 4. He said that Brother is developing more of the 5 x 7 design cards.

lovesdumbo great job on all the things you've made! I love those easy fit pants! I still need to try the a-line.

I am trying SO HARD not to buy any more until I have finished up (okay started) some of my many projects I have lined up. Maybe I should list some to help me realize I need to get sewing! This is what I can think of offhand that I have fabric waiting for (cleaning my craft room and organizing my fabric was a bit of an eye-opener).
1) goldfish patchwork skirt
2) tinkerbell simply sweet top with easy fit pants
3)tiki hut halter top w/matching pants I'm casing from :wizard:
4) pink pirate easy fit pants to match the tank top I already made (appliqued for) Lily
5) farm/piggy fabric outfit
6)tutti frutti cherries fabric a-line top with red bows and red bloomers
7)skirt for neighbor's daughter
8)something I haven't decided yet with the pink and brown flowered fabric I got at Hobby Lobby
9)ladybug easy fit pants with matching tee
10) jeans top skirt for DD to wear to Dnephew's wedding
11)purple butterfly dress for DD10
12)only 3 more peasant dresses and 6 more doll dresses and 8 more headbands for the boutique at the end of the month :scared1:  :scared:

wow, I just overwhelmed myself enough to scare me away from my craft room for at least the rest of the day!
Thanks! I was really happy with how the A Line tops worked out and they are so cute on. I read my instruction manual for my sewing machine last night so I can do the button holes.

I've got a long list of projects too but I want to go to JoAnns!!!!!

Love them all, especially the Cars A line top!
Thanks!

I finished making the Strawberry shortcake PJ pants! I am IN LOVE with this flannel backed satin like material. Okay I do not know what it was called but it was SO worth the $3 a yard I paid and I got one pair of capris (Sz 19) one pair of Capri's (sz 5) and one pair of shorts (sz 2) out of 2 yards! :rotfl: Now off to sew some more :)

and go figure the 9 year old is the only one that wanted ruffles!
So cute!

Thanks! I use Butterick 3475 for the boy's shirt. I prefer it to the McCall's pattern that I was using.
Thanks!!! I bought that one last week on sale. I think I'll wait a bit though in hopes that Carla comes out with her boy shirt pattern soon. I'm making it for our family trip in August.

I just got bad news that I really don't want to tell Jenna. I just found out that Cinderella's Golden Carousel will be closed for refurbishment until the 22nd of May. :sad1: That was her favorite ride last year.
I'm really sad that it will be down for my trip too. I'm hoping we do get to see Toy Story Mania though.

Since I have nothing new to post, here are photos of previously unmodeled outfits :rotfl: prepare yourself for some bad lighting :scared:

Here is Jayden's Hannah Montana shirt WITH the skirt. She wore it to church the other day and the boy she has a crush on told her she looked "beautiful". It made her day!

And here is Lily modeling one of my outfits for the boutique. The underdress is not uneven, she just wouldn't hold still.

She is beautiful!!!!! And that butterfly dress is so cute!

Great job on the pajama pants!

I love your patriotic fabric. I've been thinking that I need to get some fabric for my girls for the 4th of July. I know the baby is due around then so I want outfits completed in plenty of time.
Thanks!

:wizard: Good luck with a patriotic outfits. If you make them now maybe they could wear them for Memorial Day too.

Did you go to the Seminole Town mall?:confused3

I did not buy any of the disney cards but I have purchased a lot of additional designs that I can transfer with the PED basic. They stitch out perfect. When I did the Minnie I had no issues! lol, and I think it is odd that none of the Minnies have red on. I changed the colors to red when i use them. I like the sharpie Idea. I will have to use that!

Utah doesn't even have any Disney Stores any more!!! :sad1:

Are they on-line? Don't answer, I'll check.

THANKS, Castle for making me poorer ;)

Ummmm, I wonder if they come in Women's XL? :confused3

Thank you SO much! At this point I will take ANY of them! I purchased some Embroidery designs for Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc and now just need the fabric to match! I am thinking I will make a twirl skirt (Patchwork) for the 2 older ones and a jumper dress for the Littlest! I do not have a Hancocks around here :( I checked at Joann's today and they did not have any. They were even out of the Princess prints! I am going to go to Wal mart over the weekend to see if they have any but the only one that sells fabric is about 45 minutes away :( and I never have much luck there!

If you could check for me that would be awesome!

Wow, those look cool. Even if they aren't as full as some pettiskirts, I love that the fabric has sparkle and swirls. I wish it came in other colors... but then I'd be tempted to get more than the one I'm already tempted to order. LOL

OOH! I want one (okay 2) for my girls! Are they as soft as the other ones? I also want one in Cinderella light blue......how can they only offer it in one color?????

Cinderella blue would be awesome!! I think I would like that better than the pink. Our Disney store didn't have them yet. I'll have to check later.

Elisa, what size did you get? I couldn't decide and got a medium. I hope it doesn't fall right off of her.

Hey, shameless plug: I updated my trip report!

Just have to say--it was 80 degrees yesterday and today it is snowing. :sad2: :sad1:

The online flyer says it is on til Saturday the 19th.

I stand corrected. It is all week.
Heres a question do they limit how many they have on hand??
Mind you the one I went to was small.
But they only had 1 of every 1 I wanted. And I was just curious??
But I was happy they had all 13 I wanted.

Melanie
