Glad to hear Barbara is keeping her spirits up and yay for getting to go to Disney.

I looked at the site and am now doubting that I have enough fabric to make a petti skirt. the Smallest one I saw took 35 yards of fabric. :scared1: I only bought six.:lmao:

That is horrible. I love pigtail buns or as we call them "Ballerina Buns". DD is always wanting them in her hair and she has never been teased. You tell her that they are cute and then show her a picture of Princess Leia and show her it's not a bad thing. I'll bet she was really cute with her hair fixed up.

I was a little confused about the yardage at first too, but they aren't talking about total yards used to make the petti, it's talking about the edges of the chiffon. Or, if you were to measure the bottom of each layer of chiffon, you would get 35 yards. I'm not explaining that well, but hopefully, you get the idea. I think 6-7 yards of chiffon should be pleanty.

Thanks for the kind words about Barbara. I talked to her this morning and asked her how she was doing and she said, "I've got a scratchy throat" So, she's more concerned about having a cold right now than anything else! I love her!
Yay for the cruise!!!

Am I the only one who hears London in their head when they see "Yay me!!"?

So do I!

:lmao: THANK YOU!!

I was fixin to be wicked yesterday...my step daughter had requested that I put her hair in "pig tail" buns...a little bun on each side of her head. She had seen pictures of me like that in my ballet days and was fascinated by the hair style. She LOVED it. Unfortunately when she went to school one of the boys called her "Princess Leia"...which really hurt her feelings. (She doesn't even know who Princess Leia IS...but she did NOT like being teased!) When she told her mother about it, mom's response was "Well you DO look like Princess Leia"...and then proceeded to tell her that it was the dumbest hair style she'd ever seen. All of this was said while they were at a restaurant. My SD was so embarrassed that she put her coat over her head.

I don't get it. This child is so self conscious and sensitive. She was crushed.

Anyhow...last night my little step son took the opportunity to tease his sister further about it and whispered that she looked dumb. Too bad his wicked step mama has super human hearing.

Suddenly he found himself yanked from his activity and plopped into BED for the night...at 7pm. He missed playtime and dessert.

Yep...I'm mean.

But I will not have cruelty in my house. Wow...I'm STILL really mad about this.

I have no doubt that my step daughter will NEVER try anything new ever again. Which is so sad in and of itself. She's such an expressive girl. But it's locked up tight now.

GRRRRRRRRRRR

*sigh*

At least I lived up to my wicked reputation...I was starting to fee a little too Mary Poppins...y'know?

:lmao:

Aww, this makes me really sad. :sad1: My first thought was princess Leia too. I was her for halloween in K and I loved star wars, the hair do and all. I still think it is adorable today. It is ashame that people teased her. Please tell her I love the hair done that way!

Yay for the cruise!!!

Am I the only one who hears London in their head when they see "Yay me!!"?

Absolutely not! *LOL*

I spent some time with a friend and her DGD a couple of years ago, and that is still stuck in my brain! :)

OMG!!! DH just bought me the most amazing thing!! This!!
IMG_0318.jpg

I just took it out of the box and I still can't believe it. It's a Viking Emerald 183. It's computerized! I mean I'm in the 21st century with my sewing machine. (the one I had been using was at least 15 years old.) I still need to do a Cinderella dress and boy this thing is going to make my princess dresses a breeze!! It isn't an embrodiery one, but it has some cool stitching, I think I read it would program the VCR and put a roast in the oven all at the same time. I don't know how!?!:confused3 I'm just psyched it had a self-threading needle and a speed controller??? I didn't even know machines had that. So what do you think?? Does anyone have a Viking?

Love your new toy!

I don't have a Viking sewing machine, but I do have a Viking serger. Love it!

I still have my original BabyLock serger (ca 1985), which is permanently set on narrow rolled hem. It makes the best narrow rolled hem I've seen.

I order them from Sam's, and they take 6-8 months to arrive. Let me know if you (you being anyone here)wants
me to order one for you. They run about $24 + plus shipping.

Sam's website is here: http://www.samsmfg.com/

These are the Kaiya Eve ones on this site, but they are the same, they just have better pictuers!
http://www.pettiskirtplace.com/kaiya_eve.html
And the Belle Ame ones, which are also the same:
http://www.buttercupsboutique.com/cat_belle.cfm

WOW! Great price on those! I definitely want one, so I guess I need to order now to get it in time for Christmas!:rotfl: I just need to decide what color, of course I know what Sydni is going to say" I want a pink one!" That girl loves pink!

:lmao: THANK YOU!!

Poor Sally! You tell her that her hair I am positive looked fantastic! What a mean mommy! How on earth do you tell your own child something like that?:confused3

On the ongoing child discipline thang:

Spank em!

Just kidding ;) sort of:

The "Naughty Chair" (which you have to pronounce like a Brittish Nanny) Is the best tool for us. If the little darling (Norah) gets OUT of the naughty chair before the timer goes off....I spank. Only because I know I'd be "setting the little precious angel" back in said naughty chair repeatedly would get consecutively more forceful and stressful. That child can push a button, I tell you what.

We tried 1,2,3 Magic which in theory works well for some parents, I'm sure, but we kept saying: "One!....Twoooooooooooo!....thrrrr" because we didn't want to get to 3, and darned if my kids wait for the "r" in "Three" to budge :rotfl2: I especially love listening to parents who use fractions for the same reasons! "2 1/2....2 3/4....You better move mister! 2 7/8......"

Once, while at Disney World, after a loooong whiney day, during a mama meltdown, I said to my kids:"Shape up or I swear I'll spank your bottoms right here in the Happiest Place On Earth in front of Mickey Mouse and ALL these HAPPY people!" But we ended up laughing because I sounded ridiculous.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: That is crackying me up! And I have to say the counting works for Sydni! I barely get one out and she is up and at em!

I wish I could do a narrow rolled hem! My brother (machine, to clarify) has a foot for it, but it doesn't "roll" the fabric as in the tutorial video featuring a much better machine that makes it look easy. NO, it folds the fabric in a stupid manner which frustrates me.

As God as my witness, I WILL own a serger someday! :cool2:

(ducking for the lightening about to strike me)

Don't feel too wicked. We have a no "put-down" rule in our house. It's an automatic time out! I feel bad for Sally, her Mother is the one who is wicked. Who tells their child that her hairstyle is dumb? Hugs for Sally!

We used 1,2, 3 magic too. The trick to it is for the first few days they will test you. My kids spent a lot of time in time out for the first couple days. My problem is remembering to count instead of yelling! :lmao:

A friend of mine does a 15 minute thing. Every time she says 15 minutes they go to bed 15 minutes earlier than the usual bedtime. It works well too! Though if you have a lot of kids you have to write down how many times you said it. My kids hate going to bed early. The other thing that works is taking away tv. I put a paper on it that says NO TV TODAY.

I know that several little girls on here have Lelli Kelly shoes, Parker saw them on a commercial the other day and now wants a pair. I don't mind paying more for a good pair of shoes but my DH would croak if I bought her a $65 pair of shoes.

Anybody ever tried to make some shoes like these? I know lots have made shoes with rhinestones & beads using the E6000 glue but how well does your creation hold up? And what is the best type of shoes to use? I was at Target today and I got a pair of white patent leather Mary Janes for $5.00 and thought about using those to try and make a pair. Would these be okay to use and what type of beads/embellishments would you use?

Am I crazy for thinking of trying this?

Forgot to add, what type of paint is everyone using on their painted shoes?

DD had her 5 year old picture taken wearing a petti. She loves it!! Our 2nd one should be here in a month or so.

Walmart has a pair of Lelli Kelly like tennis shoes. I've seen them there a few different times.

Okay. So I said I was going to LOOK at hancocks. Big Mistake! I spent $40, which isn't too bad, but I wanted soooooo much more. I can't believe the fabrics they had. I was there last August and they had nothing. Well, there was at least 7-8 other Disney patterns that I wanted. It was all 30% off and I got a 10% educator discount. So, here is what I got.:woohoo:

I've thought of doing that myself! I just bought Lyddy a pair of very sparkley pink shoes at Libby Lu the other week, they seem to have stopped the constant begging for the Lelli Kellys!

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

That just crackys me up!!!! Matthew is just such a little sweetie!!
I love the pictures of Emily! I want to get the girls pictures taken in theirs too. I wasn't sure how Arminda would look with all that poofiness, but i think she looks really cute. And, most importantly, so does she!!!

I was shocked when my girls DIDN'T ask for a pink one!!! Lydia wanted a yellow one, which hopefully, will be here in a month or so and Arminda wanted aqua. Go figure, crazy girls! :confused3 They make them in adult sizes too! ;)

"Yay Me!" sounding like London -
I thought y'all meant someone's kid on here. And I was thinking to myself "How do they "hear" a kid on here????"
Then I realized you meant on Suite life.
So apparently I hear the same thing. :lmao:

is it just me or do the pettipants seem kind of odd for adults?
Unless you're bo peep.
I guess pettiskirts are odd for adults too unless you're a clogger or a can can girl.
Hmm.
But what if I wore one under my minnie dress?
Just at WDW, of course! :rolleyes1

utah - Norah is a PRECIOUS ANGEL! Please don't tell me you spank her! :lmao: (For anyone who does not know me, I am kidding. )

leli kellys - what channel do they advertise these on? I never see it on the disney channel, nickelodeon or cartoon network.
Maybe it's at times when I'm not watching.
Not that I watch a lot. :rolleyes1

Here is Lydia under the pettis. :rotfl2:

I thought the same thing about the pettipants!! I guess they are a square dancing thing.

And, you NEED one to go under your Minnie skirt!!!

If you do a search on youtube, you can see some Leli Kelly commercials.

Okay, way behind. I am frazzled trying to get ready for my trip.....I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!

Anyway, just from my quick scan of the last few pages

and here she is wearing the shirt to school today (she did her own hair :sad2: )
th_IMG_0037.jpg

Lily's shirt is an iron-on from Joanns (the hearts are kinda fuzzy). She calls it her "rock shirt" and she really LOVES the purple sparkly ric rac! She just sits and plays with it.

and just because I have created a posing maniac!

I love the guitar shirt. I may have to case this one, too!!!! Just wish I had time to do it before I go on my trip..............

Hello!! I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm planning my next cruise! yea me!!! I just have to decide which cruise line to do...my friend recently went on not a Disney cruise ***egad!*** but she had a fabulous time. So we'll see. but so far Disney's prices aren't too bad. If I book the land and sea seperate, I save about 2,000 dollars...keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm going back to planning..:)
Oh yeah, I did sew something yesterday. I made a tee with an applique of the shopping girl, the one available on YCMT. It came out really cute. All she needs is for her eyes to dry and she'll be all done..:rotfl:

I was pricing a land and sea, and it was horrible. I am going to have to try pricing them separately. Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe for next year.........

As God as my witness, I WILL own a serger someday! :cool2:

(ducking for the lightening about to strike me)

I love your sense of humor! You are so funny!! As I read this, I am picturing Scarlett O'hara in her big dress. As God as my witness, I will never go hungry again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thank you everyone for your advice and support.

We're having a trying day here, I told DH he could have custody and I'd run away from home. :) He thinks I'm kidding, if only he knew... :lmao: Utahmama, Delaney is a button pusher, she's just like her grandmother (my mom) the two of them are big into controlling everything and fussing is they don't get their way. My mom is a whole other therapy session all by herself. :rotfl2:

Part of the problem is our apartment, we have too much stuff for it and it always looks like a bomb went off in here, I know I can't think straight and I'm sure she can't either. I always joke that if someone in authority ever saw my apartment they'd take my kid. DH has told me he's going to take her out for a few hours on both Saturday and Sunday so I can get some work done around here without the extra "help."

I kept her home from preschool today because DuH (that would be Duh Hubby) didn't get the plates renewed on the truck I drive (you know he drives my truck and I managed to make sure his plates didn't expire  ) and then sprung it on me that it needed emissions done on it. I'm glad I kept her home, I'd have never made it to pick her up. Gotta love it, we'll see if he remembers that today is our anniversary.

Delaney and I are going to be running off to the dollar store in a few to pick up a couple of things so we can start our sticker charts and ticket system. We'll see how this works. She's also been told that we're cleaning out her room, she's got way too many toys so we're going to be cutting the number down significantly. I can't wait until we have a house because all the toys will be in the playroom and only the bed, our sleepy time buddy, and a couple of books will be in the bedroom.

I went to Hancock Fabric yesterday. I convinced Delaney to have a Little Einsteins birthday party and I'm sewing the favor bags so I needed a little more fabric.

Teresa, I'm in on at least two pettiskirts. I just have to wait until the end of the month, I owe a certain mouse most of the next paycheck. Who needs a monkey on your back, the mouse is much cuter.

I was looking at the petti colors, I think all the mamas need gold lame pettiskirts, we can start a whole new disco movement! :rotfl:

I've spent part of last night and this morning ironing the mountain of prewashed fabric that was cluttering up my dining room. I should have that all put away here within the half hour.

We're supposed to be going out to dinner tonight for our anniversary to a new Indian Tandoori restaurant. My English husband is practically weak in the knees hoping that they have good curry since "no one here in the states makes really good curry." Should be interesting, the menu looks good, so I'll be off to try new things.

I'll pop back in later today.

Thanks again everyone for all the support and advice.

WHOA! Now that is a mountain of chiffon!:rotfl: Sydni has decided she wants a pink one with purple fluff thanks to the buttercup website!:rotfl: Teresa, please pm with the info on what I would need to do to get one ordered! THANK YOU!

Yay! I'm first of the Utah Bunko Girls to post (they're still sleeping, I'm sure).

We played at SugarBees "House" (It's a mini-mansion). My house is 3800 sq. feet and her's is at least twice as big! But it's just beautiful and WELL decorated...since we have a ton of the same stuff and the same taste
So the Bunko Girls were me, Spongie, Jham(mmie), and Sugarbees.(plus 4 others) No pictures, sorry!

I WON a prize!!! A Love me KNot bag in black and white! LOOOVE it! Course I won for the lowest score :rolleyes1 I guess it's not like golf where low is good.

Sugarbees and Jahm are 2 of the nicest and funniest ladies I know, y'all
I never would have discovered them if it weren't for this thread (4 ago )
I've never played bunko, but I'd learn just so I could hang out with all you cool women. :cool2: I'd love to see pictures of Sugarbee's house! I understand if she doesn't want the world to see her house, but I love seeing pretty houses!!

Luke is sitting on my lap right now. When I told him Tessa had a spongebob birthday cake he requested that I get a picture of it "right here" and pointed to my disboards window He really wants to see Tessa's spongebob cake! That boy loves spongebob.
It will be up momentarily, Luke! Tessa also loves Spongebob, and so does Sawyer. It's one of the few words that Sawyer says. That, and Mouse (for Mickey Mouse)!

So yesterday it was the scissor-Todays target- THE SUGAR!!!! Yep it was all over the kitchen floor and my 4yo. and if I wasn't laughing (now).... while standing in time out he says moooooom my hands are very sticky- duh!! Good thing it was getting low! GRRRR Then he woke up his sister and hour early!!! She gets so cranky when she is up early! Vent over- thank you!!

YAY for Barbara So glad she gets to go on the trip! I hope she stays well and has the time of her life on the trip!! :grouphug:

YIKES!!! Not sugar!!! That is such a sticky mess. I don't envy you today.

Thanks for the kind words about Barbara. I think she's going to have a great time! Henry made me cry the other day. He said "I'm glad she can go before her surgery. What if she gets the surgery, it turns out to be worse than they thought, and she never makes it out of the hospital." Yep, that was just what I wanted to hear. :sad2: Henry is not normally a pessimistic person, but he's worried about her, too.

:lmao:
Poor SallyRally. That makes me so sad that she would get teased over a cute hairdo.

I have to admit that I did once tell Tessa her hair looked stupid. It was after she cut it herself when she was 3. I wanted to make sure she NEVER did that again and that was the best way to do it! At the time, she thought stupid was the worst word a person could say, so I really got my point across!

I don't think I need a pettiskirt (Wait, do I? ;) ) but wanted to comment on the huge difference between the two sites you linked for us :rolleyes1 (Bless their hearts)
I've really no idea what you're trying to say. :rolleyes1

I was whining about something one day and the 9 year old told me to "build a bridge and get over it."
:scared1:

THIS is why I need Miss Cammie advice. But I need to wait til I'm a bit more "official."
Now, THAT is funny! :rotfl: No, I wouldn't want a 9 year old kid telling me that. But, he does have a biting wit!

On the ongoing child discipline thang:

Tessa's Lelli Kelly shoes are all covered in sequin. So, I would think you could just glue them on with the E6000. That's what I was going to do until her Aunt Shawna bought her a pair for Christmas.

DD had her 5 year old picture taken wearing a petti. She loves it!! Our 2nd one should be here in a month or so.

:rotfl2: He does look rather pretty! :lmao:

I tried to get Sawyer to put Tessa's on because she wasn't home. He WASN'T having it!!! He absolutely wouldn't let me put it on. Of course, he hates trying anything on.
