Do you think a 2 would be ok in the peasant dress? With a size 2 simply sweet dress over it?

I would make size 2's then add ruffles if you need to before you go. and make sure you do the elastic for the waist a week before you go. always make things ahead of time then always wait to do the waist. Thats what I do

Yes, because as Lori said, you can always add ruffles. And on the peasant dress you can leave the elastic casings open, so you really only need to think about the bodice width which should be fine in a 2.

Ummm first, what's a Woot?
THANK YOU for saying such nice things! Wow...a little sister with three big brothers...she may NEVER date! ;) our neighbor had four boys and finally a little girl...and every time a boy came over to their house the brothers would come out on the porch with baseball bats and pick their nails with hunting knives...just to freak the guy out!:rotfl2:

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM HOPING FOR!!!!!! :rotfl:

Woot . c o m , they sell one item a day, usually something techy and it is usually a pretty good deal. $5 flat shipping, even on huge tvs and stuff. new item changes at 1 am florida time

I finally got pics of teh Mickey dot dresses I made. They've been done for a while, but I forgot to get pics.

Today I finished my baby's birthday dress. I can't believe she'll be 2 next month. Now I just need to make it again for a BAB puppy.

And finally a question. I had a somewhat strange, but DisBoutique related dream & it reminded me of these dresses I saw at Epcot in Nov.

Does anyone have any idea where I might find fabric like this? I don't think I've seen anything like this anywhere I've looked recently.
The polka dot dresses are wonderful!!! And I love the Mickey dress! How did you do the Mickey??

I'm not sure about the fabric, could it be sheets?

Just subbing to this new thread. FINALLY some peace this week, hopefully, and I will get to sew. I'm really looking forward to creating a skirt and some shorts out of dd's old jeans that are too short but still fit around the waist.

I have so many projects. Tonight is do the laundry night so I can sew guilt free for the next few days! :cool1:

Everything is so amazing that I have seen! I cant wait til the kids go to bed so I can look and read through all the posts i've missed. I havent dIS'd in days. :scared1:

Everybody's stuff looks great! Some of you guys have been talking about a peasant dress to go under the simply sweet dresses. What pattern would you guys suggest that is quick and easy for a peasant dress?

The Mickey is cut from a bandana from Hobby Lobby. That dress is cased from one that someone here had last summer...I think it was Gracie. I'll go find it.
Here you go.

I can't imagine one of stores in the France part of Epcot having dresses made from sheets, but that's a place to start looking.

I finished this outfit for Violette...well almost....I still want to make the cloche hat to go with it but I have to buy some interfacing. Violette is only wearing the top in the pics because I hadn't done the pants at that point. I'll take another pic of the whole outfit once I do the hat. I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm really getting into sewing! Not bad for my 2nd outfit..hehe..

Sooooo cute! I love that dot fabric! Your girls are adorable!

That is so cute!!!! You really did a great job! Sydni is so cute. :lovestruc Lydia loves it too! She is jumping up and down saying that she would wear that to Animal Kingdom and show the Zebras!!! Then she did an imitation of a giraffe walking around our living room, which was pretty funny!

I really want an embroidery machine!
:rotfl2: :rotfl: I am laughing at the mental picture of her being a giraffe! How funny! I am sooo glad she likes this! And you too! Thank you!!!!!!!!
I really LOVE my embroidery machine!!!

2nd outfit!:scared1: WOW! That looks fantastic!

Everybody's stuff looks great! Some of you guys have been talking about a peasant dress to go under the simply sweet dresses. What pattern would you guys suggest that is quick and easy for a peasant dress?

I used CarlaC's Portrait peasant tops and dresses or something like that from YCMT. It is very well laid out and simple to put together. I made the doll versions at the same time which made it take longer, but also helped me miss a few mistakes I'd have made in the big version.

Ditto on Carla's portrait peasant tops and dresses pattern. It is one of my favs! And no, I won't go to photobucket and find photos of every peasant dress I've ever made. :rotfl:

I got it at JoAnn's last summer.

I SOOOOOO Covet that fabric!!! I look for it all the time, even on :wizard: with no luck. If anyone ever has any extra, I'm willing to pay!!!

That turned out so cute! I love it on Violette and look how cute her little face is with those cheeks and eyes! I teach in the nursery at my church and we have a little girl in there with cheeks and big blue eyes like that. She is a little pill but she gets away with a lot because of that little angel face!!

Hmmm, I'm sure on here a lot today...maybe that is because I sit at my computer while I am unpicking seams that shouldn't be that way...

Hi everyone, we've been back since Thursday, but just now getting out from under the loads and loads of laundry. Will post pics when I get them all together, but I have one question. What do I do now that we're back and have nothing to sew for? Hubby says no trip for 3 years
I can't wait to hear about your trip and see the pics!! Henry (the Disney-hater, see my siggy) says that we won't be going to Disney for at least 3 years after this next trip. I guess he'll just have to stay home while I take the kids! Perhaps I'll have to stay at a deluxe resort, just to show him. :thumbsup2

My husband tries to say things like that to me too...silly husband. He's not the boss of trip taking! I AM!!! Just use your eyebrow arch abilities. Or mind control techniques...I find that playing Disney music while he's sleeping or slipping the word "Disney" into sentences at random times does a LOT for bending his brain to my will!!!
I've been practicing my eyebrow arch. Is there a special "We WILL be going to Disney World every year" eyebrow arch?

TERESA AND HEATHER- How is your SIL? Any updates?
Just wanted to let everyone know you are still in my thoughts and prayers!
Thank you so much for your prayers. Teresa already answered, but I wanted to you to know I appreciate you asking about her.

IAre you sure they slept on the floor? If it's the kennel I think it was, they had their own bedding for the dogs to sleep on. Kenzie slept on a nice sheepskin rug type thing there. We never took our own blankets.
Yep, it was pitiful. They told us we had to bring our own blankets or dog bed for them if we didn't want them sleeping on the floor. I was NOT happy that they didn't give them something else to sleep on. None of the dogs had a sheepskin rug, so perhaps it was a different kennel. Or, maybe she got complaints and changed the policy before you went there.

It looks like you had so much fun! Chicago is such a great place to visit. I love the matching outfits! I also love your new siggy picture- too funny!

That is absolutely darling! I love the fabrics you used. Your DD is adorable!

Wow, I love it! I also love the super-cool poses! It's amazing how many different looks that one pattern has. The zebra is fantastic!

:scared1: (that's not a scared smiley, it's a WOW smiley)

Welcome out of lurkdom! I love this style of shirt. You did a great job on it!

WOW!! I've been CASED!!! I am basking in glory as I type this. You did a WONDERFUL job on yours! I like your sash better! I also wasn't happy that you can't see Nana in the back when it's tied. But, I wanted it to be a little more fitted, so I need to keep them.

How cute!!! I love that Minnie dress!

Speaking of dreams...I had a dream that I was at a bounceland kind of place (you know with the inflatable jumpy things). I was climbing up into a multi-layer type jumpy thing and I became trapped between the inflatable part and the side and I couldn't breath. I woke up very skerred. That had absolutely nothing to do with anything, but I thought I'd share.

Thank you so much for explaining that! I felt so totally uncool that I didn't know what you were talking about. I'll have to check it out!

The Portrait Peasant Dress from YCMT is GREAT! I've used it over and over again!

I love that color combination! It's so pretty! You have such a beautiful little peanut! She's just so cute!

Mine was much nicer than that. Dh & I were in Paris fabric shopping (don't I wish). It suddenly occured to me that we should go to Monoprix (it's a department store) & look at their sheets to see if they had coll Disney stuff that we don't have here. We found a Mickey/Minnie/Donald set, a princess set & a set with the Paris monuments on it. Very cool stuff.

I was refering to the portrait peasant tops and dresses on this site http://www.youcanmakethis.com/info/clothing-creation/Portrait-Peasant-Tops-and-Dresses.htm
Alot of people on here use many of the patterns from that site.
I love this pattern. It is very easy. I have a lot of the patterns from this site because they are just too easy to do, but they look expensive when they are done. Most of the patterns will show you how to embellish them as well.

Okay, yes, I'm still unpicking :headache: but I had to say, DH also told me 3 years before we can go back to Disneyworld (well he really said 4 years but I immediately changed it in my mind to 3 years) so I'm thinking we should start planning right now (we need something to plan for right?) for DISBOUTIQUER FEST 2011--and with 3 years to save, we can definitely go deluxe! Maybe even get an extra room to set up as a sewing room! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

:rotfl2: I wonder if Disney would take 3 years of payments for a 2011 Sew Fest?

Can you just see all our little darlings parading through WDW in their customs? Course in 3 years, Pissy will be 6 going on 16. :guilty:

Maybe in THREE years I can drop my 40 pounds?

Where shall we stay in 2011? :confused3 I vote POLY, since we'll be making 3 years of payments. We can have Hawaii night at Ohana.

I vote poly too since that would make it easier to convince DH. He fell in :lovestruc with the poly.
