Okay, can I just say that since being new here I had no idea how fast you guys were!!!:worship: I didn't get to lurk or sew much this weekend becuase it is the DH's weekend off, and being HUGE NASCAR fans we went to the race in Martinsville, but wow since the move to part 4ish, you guys have been busy!

I mainly wanted to share that for the first time ever I went to Hobby Lobby on Friday!  I am now broke!!! :scared: We did not have one where I lived before (I thought) but we just moved in October and there is one about 20 minutes away. First, let me say, I will be going back, minus my three kids. Second, wow I got some great deals and some great fabric. So, now, back to cutting my fabric and I hope to finish an outfit this afternoon for DD to model. We will see...:rolleyes1

so I have been lurking for a few months now and thought I would post some things I have made for our upcoming trip to Disney.

Snow White for my younger dd (she just turned 6)

Belle for my older dd (she is 8 1/2)

I need to tack up the tulle so it doesn't droop and finish the hem. I made these two dress over Christmas break (I'm almost done with nursing school!) and wasn't sure how much they would grow. They will wear these dresses after an appt at the BBB and for dinner at 1900 Park Faire.

My first attempts at applique:

Hi Everyone- I am SOOOOOO Excited!!! My dh has oked a "side" trip to Disneyland the next time we go visit his Gr. parents in AZ. Which we are trying to do this fall!!!   :banana:I was thinking it would be YEARS before I got to a Disney park since we just went last fall!! I know many of you have been to DL before so any help, tips, tricks, favorites that you want to share please post them to the thread I started on the Disneyland part of the boards or you can PM me. The link is below:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=24133887#post24133887

Did I mention that I am EXCITED!!!!!!
There are still ALOT of questions and by no means is this a done deal- But even "planning" can lift your spirits!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, now on to catch up.....
This calls for THREE bananas!!!   :banana:Okay, I decided at the last minute that it really called for FOUR bananas!! How exciting! I went to Disneyland when I was 17 and I loved it. I don't remember a whole lot, though. So, I can't help you. I keep trying to talk Henry into going to Disneyland the next time we visit his brother in AZ. It's only about 3 hours away. It kills me to be so close to a Disney park without being able to go there!

Hello everyone. I need a bit of advice. My SIL is having a baby :yay: This is not the SIL, DB's wife, that thinks handpainted JoJo shoes are hideous and that custom boutiques are like costumes :sad2: This is DH's sister. She wants the gender to be a surprise. So I would like to make something for her but it needs to be gender neutral and reeeeaaally easy. Any suggestions???

Also, one of my best friends is having a baby too...a little girl. Any suggestions on something that is boutique style for an infant and easy???

th_Miley2.jpg
Oh my goodness, that is the cutest puppy EVER!!! She just makes you want to pick her up and cuddle her!

As for the baby outfits, there are some great things in the bookmarks for babies. Maybe you can look around there to get some ideas.

Oh my GOSH! I LOVE it!!! It's absolutely adorable. Your DD looks so pretty, too!! My grandma used to crochet clothes for her grandkids (not for me, but for her favorite ones:rotfl: ). I wish I had some of those clothes now. They were pretty cute. Teresa still has a crocheted little halter top Grandma made.

there IS a special "we WILL be gonig to Disney every year" eyebrow arch...You have to SAY IT "Husband we WILL be going to Disney every year", then do the eyebrow arch...then hold something menacingly over your head as though you may throw it...

Girl...you need to open a store. Talent like yours needs to be cashed in on!:thumbsup2 CHA-ching!!! Disney here we come!!!

she's an artistic little soul...I LOVE abstract art!!!

SEE...you are already practicing the mind control! You just have to add the heavy object!:rolleyes1

A-HA!!! I knew I was doing something wrong. I need to state it as FACT and have a heavy, menacing object- GOT IT!

Thank you so much for the store comment! You are just so sweet. I've thought about selling on :wizard:, but I always wonder if I'd get enough money to cover the materials and all the time I have to put into this stuff. I am not a fast "whip it up" kind of sewer. I'm thinking when we get back from Disney, I might try selling a few things.

She is an artistic little girl. I even have pictures she painted when she was 3 as decorations for my bathroom! I bought paint colors that would match the bathroom, some nice paper, some nice paint brushes and let her go to town. I LOVE them and everyone comments on the artwork in the bathroom! :rotfl: Okay, she may not be a GREAT artist, but she's VERY creative! Yes, this is me being a proud parent.

Dear Lydia,
Deann told me about you writing your name and I think that is GREAT!!!!
Hope to see you soon,
Ariel
th_cliparielhappy21.gif
How sappy am I that this made me get all teary? Lydia is going to be THRILLED with that personal note from Ariel herself!!!

Yes, we tend to be "conversational" around here (I don't like to use the word chatty)! :rotfl: I can't wait to see what you made for your DD! Make sure you post pictures when you're done!

WOW Emily! Way to come out of lurkdom! Those princess dresses are BEAUTIFUL!!! The appliques look perfect, too! I can't believe those were your first try! I think a Mickey head is one of the most difficult shapes you can start with, so you should be patting yourself on the back right now!

very sweet! Congrats- doest it feel so good the first time you put it on them!
DSCF2114-1.jpg

This is sooo adorable!!!! I love the zebra and the zebra accent bows- Do I spy a sewing space in the background??
I'm half tempted to photograph and post my sewing table and post it- just as a joke to show what the opposite of neat and organized can look like. I drool over the other pics of people's spaces, kwim?

IMG_0027-1.jpg

simply mouth watering! do you sell online? I love your color and embellishment choices.
DSC07867.jpg

I think yellow as a lining would go nicely or red of course. A little rick rack on the edge of the next one might be sweet if she lets you... You could try adding a ruffle of the cars fabric or black fabric onto the bottom of this (run it along the outer edge of the outfit starting in the back. Maybe 2"? and just see if she is interested in it- whats the worst that could happen? You get practice and she doesnt care for it, no sweat since you plan to make her a different one anyway. Just my .02 cents. I love her haircut btw- so sweet and shiney! My DD2 is always out of control, its very fine, so it tends to float- except at WDW- then its curly!

PeterPanfront.jpg

Deb, you are probably gone and on your way and I hope you are having a magical time!!! But I love this! Nice reproduction! I like the idea of trying this for DD2, but she's so tiny I probably would have to pick one character or 2 for the front and 1-2 for back

2008_03300011.jpg

Will you look at that little angel! I love your baby! She must be close to my DD age (will be 2 in April 21) and I love her birthday dress!!

I think I want to make a birthday dress for my DD- but no clue what I should make, probably a top and pants since weather here is iffy in Spring....Should it be Disney?

What pattern in this? Absolutely adorable!!!! I love love love it! This is truly a "boutique dress"

Nice job!!! love the raspberry and chocolate combo- and your DD is so sweet- beautiful eyes

DSC07019Medium.jpg
Oh Im so glad you posted a pik of her wearing it- it fits her really nicely and looks great on her. I too am a big fan of this top!
and Ryans is super cute too!!!! Ive decided I really love the layered look of little girls dresses with the underdress and sundress over. I assume its not too bunchy for them.
Miley2.jpg

Oh my gosh I want one!! My DH said the other day he would love to have a Golden but didnt think my allergies could handle the extra hair. Hmm...I have 2 labs now, plus a foster lab (any of you looking to adopt? She's really sweet!) and 2 cats. Of course I do rescue- so Id probably go that route, probably try to get one thats not as well bred- with shorter or thinner hair- I have fostered a couple like that. almost look lab-golden mix.
Jessie and I have only done classes at this point- we are in Advanced Agility now, but not ready for competition. I love it. Loads of fun! The lab ring is too political for me so I just like to go and watch and stay "outside that world" lol. You know that saying about the big dogs? We stay on the dock. LOL. (If you cant hang with the big dogs....)

Husbands and Disney- I guess Im a lucky ducky! My husband has a hard time saying no to Disney so I have to be careful how often I ask. This trip (May 29th!!!) was planned about a week ago- I just asked if he'd be interested in going, to sort of celebrate DDs birthday- and he said I should look into availability. I told him the next day we could stay at BWV he said- yep! Lets do it (less than 24hrs before we had NO plans for a vacation!) Sooo cool!
This will be the first trip I sew for.

Last thing- I have to leave soon for the final weigh-in for our Gym's Biggest Loser competion. Im hoping to have lost enough to move me to second place. It depends on what the other girl lost. Im hoping to use the ladies room one more time before I go! LOL!! Really- you can laugh at me. Yesterday I even drank some "smooth move" tea- every bit helps!! We are suppose to get the results this afternoon. DH went this morning to weigh-in, I think hes lost 25lb! He's also doing a competion at his office and has a couple more weeks to go.

Wow..20 pages...I have been lurking and looking through all the customs real quick and everything looks wonderful and beautiful!!!! I wanted to subscribe to this new thread and I am sorry that I haven't had time to comment individually. My dd has a ear infection again, and I am getting really concerned. She had her first ear infection about 7 weeks ago, and since then have gotten another 2...so 3 ear infections in 7 weeks. Normally, she is better and the pain goes away after couple days of antibiotic treatment, but she has been in pain since Friday. The pediatrician is thinking that we may have to go see an ENT specialist. I feel horrible for her, and feeling that it is all my fault after a friend told me that breastfed babies doesn't get many recurring ear infections. She also has wheat, eggs, and nuts allergies and again I was told that it was because I didn't nurse her long enough. I nurse her for about 7 months. My ds, on the other hand was nursed until he was 15 months, and has outgrew most food allergies except for dairy and nuts at 18 months old, and has not had been sick much or had an ear infection. I feel like a horrible mom! Sorry, I know I am rambling but I just want to cry every time I think about what was said to me and how my dd's allergies and ear infections are my fault! Anyway, we are off to the doctor's again today!

Do not feel guilty...My BF breastfeed her DD4 for over a year, I breastfeed my DS4 for 7 months. Her DD has ear infections at the same rate as your DD and my DS has never had one. I think it is important for many reasons to breast feed, but some things just happen. Now, reapeat after me..."I AM A GOOD MOM!":goodvibes

That is very good!!! She is a little artist! I love the deer. I will have to show Uncle Brian that one! You tell her I liked it too! I need a love party....:lovestruc

Lydia just won't draw anything! Just scribbles! BUT, last night, she wanted to play school. And, she wanted me to tell her to practice writing her name. So far, she will only attempt an L, and it's not too good. She wouldn't even try the other letters, because, "She can't, she just CAN'T"...boo hoo..boo hoo.. "It's just TOO hard..." boo hoo boo hoo...... She is so worried she won't do it perfect, she won't even ATTEMPT it! But, she sat down at her desk last night and brought me a paper with a perfectly wrote "Lydia" on it! I actually thought she had had Arminda write it for her (and try to make it look a bit wobbly). But, she did it again "closer to you so you will see I did it myself." I know, not a huge accomplishment for a 5 year old, but I was so proud of her! :yay: :yay: :yay:

She sounds like my oldest. I can't even get her to color in the lines very often, forget drawing. And she gets so frustrated when she's trying to write her letters. I can't convince her to just try a little & it will get easier.

Heater, that's a really sweet little book (and girl).

do not feel bad it is not your fault. Listen other people that would tell you that your child has allergies because you did not breast feed them long enough can not be your true friend. why would one mom say that to another! I never breastfed any of my 3 kids. No one has food allergies and we have only had 1 ear infection from all my kids combined! My oldest has allergies to anything green (trees grass etc?) but so does my hubby. We even hired a gardener that comes once a week so he does not have to have a runny stuffy nose every weekend from yard work :sad2: . So don't feel bad. I as a child was allergic to most dairy and drank goats milk! :scared: , thank god I was a baby and I do not remember that!!!! I have outgrown it and so will your children. nut allergies are common these days! YOU ARE A GOOD MOM!!!!!!!! Don't let other parents make you feel quilty about anything!!!

Lori

It's been a while since I posted any pics but I am going to try. This is a dress my mom crocheted for my older dd when she was 4 (she is now 13). My younger dd who is now 4 loves it!

That is so pretty!!! I can tell that your daughter just loves it!

WOW!!! Those dresses are gorgeous!!!! You did an excellent job! I'm glad you came out of lurdome to show us! And, you appliques are perfect!! I will try appliqueing some day....

Yep, I still have it. I doubt it was actually made FOR me, but I have it now! We were definetely NOT the "favored ones" in my Grandma's eyes!

Once you get the idea in their heads that you WILL be going to Disney every year, they stop fighting it. Brian even told a lady at his work the other day that they should go to Disney instead of buying something (I think it might have been a new car). Because, the car will last a few years, but the Disney memories will last a lifetime. Yes, my HUSBAND actually said that!   I do love that man!

I love doing that for her

Oh Jenny, I am so sorry you are going through this!!! I am really big on breastfeeding as long as possible, but geesh! What a completely stupid thing for someone to tell you! As if we dont' have enough guilt in our lives! Let me tell you, I nursed all my babies, Lydia being the longest. We stopped at just around 3 years with her. And, she had CONSTANT ear infections from the time she was about 6 months to the time we had tubes put in at 18 months! This is not your fault! Stupid insensitive people make me so mad! :headache:

Thank you sooo much! And that is actually my dining tabel/cutting table/bowmaking table/.....LOL:rotfl: :rotfl2: My sewing maching is on a little bitty table to the left, but it didn't make it in the pic! It is hilarious to see my "sewing space". It is really not much of anything at all! Except a MESS! CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss! WOW you have done FANTASTIC!

NOT YOUR FAULT AND NOT TRUE!!!!!! I could not breastfeed either of my kids! I tried for 6 weeks with my oldest and it was a nightmare! LONG STORY, so I won't go into details! Anyway, she has terrible allergies and asthma and had a constant ear infection for the entire first year of her life! We had to get tubes finally and even after the tubes she had probably another 10 infections, the tubes just make it a LOT less painful for them! My 16mo was not breastfed and she has no allergies and has had one ear infection in the last almost 17months! So breastfeeding is not the cure all for sickness! Don't get me wrong, I think breastfeeding your child is wonderful, I wish I could have done it, but I think some kids are just prone to allergies and things and some aren't! It is in NO WAY YOUR FAULT! My kids are proof of that!

I've been lurking for a long while and you've inspired me to make a shirt for my tomboy DD. She loves Cars so I made her this Butterick 3832. Unfortunately it is WAY too short. I'm going to make it again as it was so easy. I haven't used my sewing machine in over 4 years. Thanks again for sharing all your amazing work!!!!!!

My dd loves cars and also has an obsession with Buzz lightyear. I don't think it has anything to do with th fact she has 3 brothers:lmao:
Your dd is absolutely adorable. She has the sweetest face. The shirt is super cute too!

Will you look at that little angel! I love your baby! She must be close to my DD age (will be 2 in April 21) and I love her birthday dress!!

What pattern in this? Absolutely adorable!!!! I love love love it! This is truly a "boutique dress"

She'll be 2 May 5. I usually try to match the birthday outfit to the party theme. She's having a Mickey party because she loves him so much.

I don't know what pattern the original outfit was made with (the pink & green one), but I kinda made it up as I went along. I have a bodice pattern that I made from one of Teresa's links & then I just sorta made the rest up based on the picture.

Hey everyone.... I'm baaaaaack!!! Missed you all, and missed reading our little thread. The blaby's blessing was beautiful- and so is he! I can't believe how much he grew in those 4 weeks since I've seen him last! He smiles eradily now and has a very sweet disposition. I just LOVE him!!! :lovestruc

Anyway.... I'm gonna try to catch up on this thread, but it will be in sections.

You guys talk way too

JUST BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How long does something like that take???? I wish I could make a quilt.

Surprisingly, this quilt really did not take long at all- I did it in about a 5 days, but that was only working about 2 hours at a time. I'm sure if you wanted to you could easily sit down and do it in a day. The pattern is really simple.

Just wanted to jump in and say "Hi" to everyone on the new thread. We leave Tuesday, so I want to make sure I know where we are when I come back. I'll never be able to catch up after a week :)

You guys posted some great stuff yesterday. Just to name a few; the Mary Poppins, Hannah Montana, Giselle, Marie outfits and the quilt.

I know you posted this a few days ago, but you do realize, that even as of today- you still have time to make another outfit .... right!?!?!? Get at it girl! There's always time for one more!:rotfl: Have a great trip- and don't forget to take a pic of that last minute outfit and post it before you go!!!

We're off to WDW on Monday! :cool1: :cool1:  I'd made some new outfits and after seeing the fantastic Peter Pan shadows top I decided I was going to make one of my own.

Got into the disaster of a quilt room, pulled out a piece of blue fabric and realized that if I did that I was going to have to make a skirt, too, and wasn't up for starting that at 9:30 on a Thursday night.

So I pulled a pink fabric out of the piles, pulled two more until I found one that I had 1/2 yard instead of 15 inches, and 'whipped up' the top to go with an existing skirt. The ruffle on the top doesn't match the ruffle on the skirt, but the fabric is in the skirt, so it's all good. I didn't put any stabilizer behind the applique because the top's already lined. If I just keep the fabric taut I don't generally get puckering. 2 1/4 hours from walking in the room to putting it on the floor for DD to find in the morning. Thank you steam-a-seam2 and ruffling foot! :worship:

SEE CARRIE?!?!?!? Astro Orbiter did it!! You can too!!;)

I feel so guilty that I haven't made anything for my 4 dd's. My dd has had some bad - I guess you could say side effects of her meds and we have been so busy with appointments and trying to take care of her.

My DH cleaned marker off one of my twins with mr clean magic eraser and she got a bad chemical burn. We just got done passing the flu around for 4 days.

Story of my life. Who said stay at home moms stay at home eating bon bons all day watching the stories on tv.

This is soooooo something my DH would do! LOL!!much!!! :rotfl2:

NOTE TO SELF.....Don't us Mr. Clean sponge on DGS!
Hope DD ( and everyone else) is feeling lots better!

I love it! The bunnies are just too cute!

Thank you much!

I finally finished the doll last night. I hate when I have to sew something I don't want to. I just wasn't in the mood to make this doll, but I was supposed to make it for Christmas so...

SO cute- Do you have a pattern for this??

and Karebear--I LOVE your quilt! The fabrics are TDF!! I have made a quilt or two in my day and I am impressed! Just one more project for us when we have a dismeet in my craft room! :lmao:

Thanks Jhammie! And of course it goes unsaid that this will be amongst the projects we begin once the craft room has been organized at our much anticipated Utah Dismeet in your craft room!!;)

You know.....you can always leave that with ME. Heh.

LOVE that piece! The colors and patterns really work well together!
Did you do that from a pattern in case any of us want to CASE it?

My church ("ward") has a quilt club I keep meaning to join. They do stuff like that. I want to quilt a temple wall hanging. :cloud9:

Ahhhh............. sorry Mama! I didn;t read this until AFTER I got home from Utah, but if I had read it before- be assured that I would've left it for you! Maybe next time.... or better yet, how about you make one with Jham once we finish organizing her craft room at our next Utah Dismeet???

I did do that from a pattern- it from a book by The Buggy Barn- really easy to do, you only use fat quarters (so it's rather economical for a quilt), and it goes by really quickly! My next quilt is either gonna be 4th of July or Halloween. You should see the Halloween ones! They are so cute! Too many to choose from....hmmmmmm.... maybe you all could help me choose???

omg - I've only been gone 2 days - better get reading :)

just thought I'd share my bargain of the century.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=147397841

it's an 18m (I think that's almost 20yd) cutting table with fabric roller, fabric weights etc for ..............................

$1 :) :woohoo:

Now I don't need all of it so it's going in the Garage to be set up as a work shop bench - DH is happy I found it. The warehouse closed down hence the great deal. I thought those fabric rollers would be great for quilt making - since I'm not really up to the buying bolts of fabric just yet ;)

ooooh and we have a craft, sewing show here next weekend so DH has told me he'll babysit and i'll go and explore :cloud9: Boy I love that man :)

and I'd also like to say I've jumped back on the weight loss wagon as it collected me from it's round the world trip :rolleyes1 and I'm down 2kg (I think 4.5lbs I don't know all your stuff confuzzles me :teacher: )

now off to read the posts and drool at all your fantastic creations :)

Holy schnauzers! you can cut sew some serious diapers with that!!!!!! BTW, that diaper you made is awesome! It's holding up so well!!

Did I mention that I am EXCITED!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
There are still ALOT of questions and by no means is this a done deal- But even "planning" can lift your spirits!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, now on to catch up.....
How exciting!! I have not been to Disneyland since I was 16 so I won't be able to help you. The only advice that I know of is just enjoy.

so I have been lurking for a few months now and thought I would post some things I have made for our upcoming trip to Disney.

Thanks for looking.

Those are all so beautiful. Great job on the appliques.

Jenny

do not feel bad it is not your fault.

Lori
Don't feel bad. My DD had the same problems. My doctor never said that I should have breastfed her. He told me there wasn't anything that I could do to prevent her ear infections. Her dad has had allergies since he was a baby and his mother breastfed him. We live in a humid climate and that makes ear infections common. Jenna was six months old when she had to have tubes in her ears. I would listen to your pediatrician over a "friend".

OMG I'm EXHAUSTED!!!! It just took me 5 minutes to edit that last post of mine... I was so confused! Too many big purple words where they weren't supposed to be! Multi-quoting is just not my thing I guess!!! It must be meant for the REAL veterans like Heather and Theresa!
