Hi there :) I'd like to introduce myself if that's OK :) I would have done so sooner but I had to go wish some folks a happy birthday so I could post a picture with my hello ;)

My name is Laura, I'm a SAHM to two gorgeous toddlers. My daughter, Gabi is 2.5 yrs old and my son, Camden, is 1.5 yrs old. They are only 13.5 months apart so I keep pretty busy. I'm always doing arts and crafts with Gabi and sometimes just for me. I love photography and do lots of it too :)

The last time I went to Disney World was in 1998 for my honeymoon. I'm excited to say I'm going back for Gabi and Cam's first trip and my 10 yr anniversary this September. I plan to make some cute stuff for the kiddos to wear.

I've loved looking through your gorgeous work and getting ideas so far

Here are a few non-disney things I've made to say hello since I know you like pictures

Here is Camden, I didn't make anything here but I did take the pic and I wanted to show at least one of him since Gabi is mainly who you'll see in the following pics and I hate to leave him out :)

I think I've had enough creativity for one day :lmao:
Wow that stuff looks great.

Hi everyone. Well I made another outfit with the fabric I had left from the capris I made for The Peach!

Since my model is at school, I used the next best thing. hahaha Her life size doll I made for her. She uses it to dress it up in her old clothing! Since its her size, its a great model. hahaha

th_purpleoutfit003.jpg

th_purpleoutfit001.jpg

Those are some shorts she will like, however they are not as tight as she liked the baby ones. LOL, but they will work. and she will love that top. I think the purple top she is wearing today, I have some of the flowers and strawberries I saved from the scraps I will put on the shirt!

oh yes, I have some purple crocheted lace I am going to add to it, or more of that pink ribbon to match!

Ok well off to work for me. Catch up with ya'll after 10pm! Happy Sewing!!
love it but i do have to say i am partial to seeing Georgia's gorgeous Face as the model she is just adorable.....

Hi everyone. I was reading this thread really early this morning and it lifted the block from my brain. I bought some pretty green calico and a plain green to make DD a St. Pat's day outfit for a party at school and I just couldn't figure out what to do with it. I finally got it, will post it in a day or two when I get a chance to finish it.

I was sewing or out all day and I come back to find 10 + pages today. Wow, busy. I really tried the multi-quote thing ( I swear I'll figure it out one day) but as usual I messed it up somehow. So I just have a couple of things I wanted to say:

Phins jazy- How cute! I have the same purple tink fabric, just haven't decided what I want to do with it yet.

Edie-lot's of awesome outfits

My3princes-Those 4th of July shirts are great

PrincessKell- I loved the capris and that outfit is great! I'd love to see it with the purple crocheted lace:). The doll is such a cute idea.

Cherlynn-those are such cute pillowcase dresses

LauraP-you have some wonderful stuff there

and
Miss Cammie- Fancy seeing you here. I love your TR, it is soooo addicting. I can't wait to both finish it and read your next one (hint, hint)

my college roommates husband already had three girls when she met him...their names were:

Irish, Europe, and America...

yeah...not so much.

Ireland and Sydney would have been fine...but Alexis is lovely too!!!

Irish names are TOUGH...I have family members with names like Cliodhna-(Clee-uh-na) Aoibheann (Eve-een) and Caoilfhoinn (Kee-lin). Of course we all had nicknames...Clio, Evie, and Kiki...:lmao: SOOOOO not what my granddad had intended!!

The ordeal of having a traditionally spelled Irish name was above and beyond. We even had one teacher tell my sister that he REFUSED to call her a name that was not spelled properly! Learning to SPELL names was a nightmare! If it weren't for Sister Clare, who was born and raised in Ireland...we all would have been sunk! (she was the asst. principal!)

:)

I forgot our kitty, her name is Abby, but her real name is Ahblin Inis Oirr's Debutant...I know I killed the spelling...LOL

Uh-oh, we've got a pastie-wearing mousketeer! :rotfl:
I love the little Snow White!!!

LOL...she does seem to be wearing a little bit of body glitter also...I didn't know that Disney had an adult establishment...:rotfl: maybe she's trying to make a little money for a new custom outfit...:rotfl2:

I need to start sewing "every day" clothes.

See, here's my dilemma. I make things for special occasions and holidays but these things are "nice" and too dressy for most of our activities.

I hesitate to let my dd wear things that took a LOT of work for just everyday wear. :guilty:

I'm going to just focus on a spring/summer wardrobe that she can wear all the time without me worrying.

There. I said it!

So minimally adorned jeans with a simple peasant top or a knit dress.
A usable wardrobe. We have plenty of picture taking clothes or church dresses etc. Anyone feel the same sometimes?

YES! DD loves patchwork twirl skirts with t-shirts. (I've failed 3 times at peasant shirts and have stopped trying.) So that's what she's got. And the clerks in Macy's still stop her and compliment her on the skirt. I've had shirts stained so bad I pull the applique (I make simpler ones) and move it to a fresh shirt! Machine wash, tumble dry, great big shake and into the drawer. A few pulled seams - stitch them back up and keep on playing!

I keep thinking your little guy with the glasses is a boy we know named Hunter! Tessa thought it was him, too!
My favorite shirts are the swirly Mickeys! That was a really cool idea!! You all are going to look so cute in your matching outfits!

ETA: Do I spy Christmas decorations in the background?;)

:rotfl: :rotfl: His name IS Hunter :rotfl: :rotfl: So where did you meet him :rolleyes1

The lights on the curtain are lights that I made for our camper awning. I need to wait for the snow to melt before I can put them away. The picture postcard are from DIS friends and I love all the smiling faces so I'm leaving them up.

She is so pretty, such gorgeous eyes! The top is adorable!

Cute customs! What a good Mom you are to make them ones for the show! I can't imagine why Corey didn't want to go?????????????!!!!!!!
Yeah, go figure!

Here is the first of many outfits to come. We are going to Disney in April, and after seeing all of your beautiful clothes, I wanted my daughter to have something special to wear everyday, so I am sewing like a crazy person. This is the only one I have taken pictures of so far, but I'll post others next week sometime. Edie thinks she looks so pretty in it...
DSCF6117.jpg
I love your outfits!!! And you take gorgeous pictures!

I just had to post pictures of these. They are actually beads that I bought years ago, and never used. Aren't they adorable. I have 4 Minnie girls, 2 blue and white sailor girls and snow white and the evil queen.
307058754.jpg

I took the picture next to the barette to show how small they are.
I just saw that my one little blonde girl is missing part of the Minnie head on her shirt....boo hoo.
Those are so cute!!! I love them!

I am a little behind on catching up...but wanted to share my latest project. Nothing special, nothing to ooooh or aaaah about but hey, my dd loves it!

IMG_3913p.jpg
OOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I really like this! It is So cute.

Well the good news is as of right now she doesn't need surgery.
YEAH!!!!! That is very good news!

I showed my almost 19 year old this and now I have to make one! What is the "mountain"? I can't wait to try it. Luckily it'll be for my 2 "May" boys in one party.
Teresa Joy- Ooops, I did quote you...or at least I thought I did. I love that their all jazzed about the Ponies! Cute outfits too! I want Norah to be In to them and Littlest PetShop.

Arminda was a May baby too, her bd is the 7th.

My girls love the Littlest Pet Shop too. :)

Oh honey throw a mop on that baby for hair, and slap a custom on it, and wallah......a dress form !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:rotfl2:
I made this pinafore and the bow

:welcome: Your kids are so cute!!! Did you use the smocket tutorial for that? It looks adorable!
I got my sewing machine back in november and finally got around to trying something.
The first thing i tried was a bandanna dress. It turned out ok, not horrible, but not good. I made this one yesterday

th_100_6030.jpg

Thanks for all your inspiration. I never would have even got a sewing machine if it wasnt for this thread. I hope to one day be able to do half as well as many of you!
These are both adorable!!! I really love the pink one! What a cute little girl.
Ok, this has pulled down some, and I swear it looks better in person, but here:

Very pretty!

:rotfl: :rotfl: His name IS Hunter :rotfl: :rotfl: So where did you meet him :rolleyes1
.

GET OUT!!! Seriously, he looks just like "our" Hunter! Especially when he smiles!
He was one of our daycare kids, we started watching him when he was 9 months old. :lovestruc

Ok I FINALLY caught up- :scared1: And WOW very cute things these last few days- I wish I had been sewing:sad2: being:sick: is no fun- but I guess it was our turn and I am glad we all got it together so now it will be spring and we'll all be healthy- Right?? I started to multiquote when I got close so sorry to miss nearly everyone- but I know you understand ;)
Ok, this has pulled down some, and I swear it looks better in person, but here:

For Easter.
Sorry, Max and Ruby was on TV, so she wouldn't look at me...she's also filthy, and I had to stop her from...errr...itching.
Cute- I love the ribbon straps-:cutie: :lovestruc
LOL...she does seem to be wearing a little bit of body glitter also...I didn't know that Disney had an adult establishment...:rotfl: maybe she's trying to make a little money for a new custom outfit...:rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I had to take a second look to catch it :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

On the name thing- I have to say it was easier to name our son- although dh wanted to have a jr.- I had to pull out the mom veto on that- we already have quite a few michaels in the family so it is his middle name. And we both liked Lucas- We wanted short easy names for the kids. dd didn't have an "official" name until just before we left the hospital- although I knew what her name would be before I even had any kids!! I always wanted to name my girl Sophia- dh didn't really like that name but couldn't really come up with anything that I liked better so we put the name he wanted as her middle name. So she ended up with 2 middles Sophia Marie Alexis- Marie is my middle. I have 2 great grandmas that were named sophia marie and anna sophia- as many of you know my name is "anna"stasia so her name has a long story -sorry for rambling on and on...... And "if" I have anymore girls they will have the first or middle name evelyn as a shout out to my other grammy!!

Today i used a different pattern (and some fabric from the fabric swap from camelotcats :) ) I did a lot better on this one. I adjusted the measurements a little so it wouldnt be so big on my petite girl. I actually did a hem and binding on the arm holes. :cool1: Not disney, but i still wanted to share. I am not ready to cut into that fabric yet!

Thanks for all your inspiration. I never would have even got a sewing machine if it wasnt for this thread. I hope to one day be able to do half as well as many of you!

I love this place. I have been in awe since the first thread, and I have been sewing for years now, but just getting my "big girl panties" on so to speak on being brave and actually trying things other then skirts! haha

Your dresses are great. your dd is so sweet and adorable too!
I need to start sewing "every day" clothes.

See, here's my dilemma. I make things for special occasions and holidays but these things are "nice" and too dressy for most of our activities.

I hesitate to let my dd wear things that took a LOT of work for just everyday wear. :guilty:

There. I said it!

ahem...yes, yes ,yes this is how I feel. ANd this is why I have started to make Georgia non disney wear. Its simple and she can wear them all summer long. I have tons of fabric I got years ago to make her pants from the $1 section at wally world, and NOW I can finally make pants. hahaha they will all get used. and hopefully I wont have to buy much in way of summer clothing for her.

For the pinafores, I don't use the smocket tutorial. I've seen it though. Honestly I found one at a local shop and CASE'd it. I traced it onto xmas wrapping paper while folded in half. I changed the pocket shape and made a pocket pattern. Then I just sort of winged it till I got the sewing down :) I did this because dd is tiny and narrow through the shoulders and my version ties at the shoulders which means I can loosen it if she is wearing it over a dress or tighten it if she wears it alone :)

I like making the pinafores and dress up clothes for Gabi because she can wear them whenever. She especially likes that her pinafores have a pocket and she makes a big deal out of selecting something to keep in there all day as a "treasure". I'd say that I've made her very few fancy things, mainly just simple things she can run around in and have fun :)

We named "Gabi" Gabrielle Erin because we liked Gabrille and wanted an Irish middle name. We named "Cam" Camden James because we wanted to use James (Dh's father's name) as a middle name and we liked the sound of Cameron James but were starting to know too many girls named Cameron, then we came across Camden which is Scottish (my mom's family has a clan tartan and everything) and were super happy with it.

Would you be surprised to learn that I took an old t-shirt from my hubby and drew a Mickey head and "mac-n-cheese please" with marker on it? We took it to our evening ADR's for our littlest one to wear over her outfit. She is a M-E-S-S-Y eater!!! :upsidedow Oh lookie....I found a pic of her wearing it...as you can see she finished almost all of her mac and cheese :rotfl: (some of which did make it onto her shirt!)

th_IMGP3144.jpg
That is a great idea for those messy eaters! How cute!

Oh....on the names thing, my son is named after his uncle and his father....his name is Spencer Davis. I got a lot of flack for naming him after a band I had never even HEARD OF. :sad2:
Count me in the "never heard of Spencer Davis band" club! I think it's a great name!

WOW! well thanks for the giant WELCOME!!!:goodvibes

I've been drooling over here for almost a year now...being jealous b/c I can't SEW...at all.

:goodvibes :goodvibes
I knew I'd seen you around the Dis before, so I thought you'd already posted here! Sorry, I didn't :welcome: you properly!
Now I've got to read this fantastic TR everyone is talking about!

LOL...she does seem to be wearing a little bit of body glitter also...I didn't know that Disney had an adult establishment...:rotfl: maybe she's trying to make a little money for a new custom outfit...:rotfl2:
:lmao:

That is so freaky! As Teresa already said, Hunter was our day care boy. He was the spittin-uppest kid we'd ever met! But, thankfully, he's stopped that now that he's 11! :lmao: He's such a great kid. I still watch him and his sister, Emily, on occasion (when they don't have school). I'll have to show him the picture of his twin the next time he comes over!

On the name thing- I have to say it was easier to name our son- although dh wanted to have a jr.- I had to pull out the mom veto on that- we already have quite a few michaels in the family so it is his middle name. Which grammy is the one that sews? :lovestruc
We had the name Sawyer all picked out, because it means "cutter of wood" and my grandpa had a saw mill. Henry and my dad build houses, so it was perfect! Then, Henry pulled the "I want a Jr." card. I also had to pull out the mom veto. I think 2 Henry Alvin ____ s in this world is enough (his dad is a big 'ol loser and has the same name as DH)! :rotfl2:
His middle name is Howard, after my grandpa and Henry's grandpa.

Hey, CarlaC has a new e-book on YCMT!!!

I will join that club! I have NEVER heard of them! I will say that I LOVE the name Spencer! Before I knew what we were having, I had chosen Spencer and Sawyer for boy names! I love them both!

I saw Carla's new ebook and I WANT IT! It looks sooo adorable!

Aww! What a cutie! That's a great idea about using DH's t-shirt! I may have to use that! Goodness knows that DD needs it!

I worked last night so am off to bed now. I actually have a 7 day stretch off, so maybe, just maybe I'll get some sewing done! 'Night!

That is funny, my DH Michael (middle name Douglas no less :scared1: ) wanted a Jr. too. I vetoed that as well. When I was about 15 or so I knew a woman who had a baby girl and named her Jayden. I just thought that was the cutest name. I had never heard it before and I loved Jaydie for a nickname. I always thought I'd name a daughter Jayden. Then when I'm pregnant with Jayden, my SIL has a baby and names her Melanie. I tell her our baby is named Jayden. She says "OH! That is what we were going to name Melanie if she was a boy!" :confused3 This was the first time I'd ever heard the name even considered for a boy :rotfl: Then 5 minutes after she was born, I started hearing the name everywhere :headache: boys and girls. With the rest of my kids I sorta went with a theme. I love pioneer/cowboy type names that reflect my family heritage. Seth was named after my great-grandpa, grandpa, uncle, cousins etc. His middle name is Forrest because my Grandpa Seth was a forest ranger and I love camping/mountains/forests (but I spelled it with two rs) DH and I both loved the name Luke (yes, as in skywalker, but his middle name is William) and I picked Lily even though DH said it was "silly" and middle name Joy after my mom Joyce who died when I was pregnant with her. Now I wish Jayden had her middle name Grace instead of Jayden so she'd match the rest of the pioneer/cowboys in the family. I love the name Grace but DH thought it was "an old lady name" :headache: Our firstborn son that died was named Timothy Michael

Great job!
