Disboutiquers ... IRL

I am loving the updates. We wanted to do the miniature golf but we didn't want to pay for all 4 of us. How nice that you could walk a long and take pictures. I assumed we would have all had to pay. Now I know for next time. We can just let the kids play!

This is the 2nd time we have played at disney where I just walked along. We also had the buy one get one free coupon so only paid for one person. It really makes for some expensive golfing paying for 4 people!

Day 6 Sea World

Sea World holds a special place in my heart! I grew up in Ohio and we lived at most 30 minutes from a Sea World. We went often and always enjoyed it there. One year we even got passes (actually good for 2 years) at any Sea World, Busch Gardens (I think) and Boardwalk and Baseball. Oh, how we loved Boardwalk and Baseball! Anyone remember that? If I am not mistaking it was where Circus World was originally! If I felt better I would walk the 50 feet to my bedroom and grab a few pictures and scan them. I know right where they are.

Okay, anyways, I just love Sea World! A big thanks to Cindee for letting me know about the backstage program where we would actually pet the penguins!

And while I am rambling. I am good at that as you can see! I'll ramble about a big pet peeve of mine! I do not like it when people wear disney clothes to SW or US or vice versa. It just irks me. I mean it isn't that big of deal but it just doesn't go together! We are about to take part in my biggest pet peeve! I had figured we would just wear our black shirts today but it was supposed to be so hot and after being so hot the day before having our picture taken I just didn't want to put them back on.

We started off the morning early. We were up and ready to leave by 8:30 (that is early for us on vacation).

Outside our door were ducks waiting to greet us! One thing I like best about pop is we always see plenty of ducks and bunnies!

106_0934-1.jpg

I happen to have a box of cheerios in my hand so we just gave them a few.

106_0936-1.jpg

We pulled into Sea World right around opening time and parked right up front. It was so nice! Our first stop was information to check in for our penguin backstage tour. We got our tickets and I took a few pictures!

106_0938.jpg

106_0940.jpg

It was really nice because the park was empty at this time. In fact it was like we were the only ones on the one whole side of the park! We headed to the penguins first and found our meeting spot before viewing them.

106_0941.jpg

106_0947.jpg

They weren't too active yet this morning. Last time they were zipping in and out of the water and it was really fun to watch. This time they were just standing around. Very few in the water. The guy was cleaning the windows and a few ladies were shoveling the snow, moving it around inside.

We walked out and what did we see?

106_0948.jpg

106_0949.jpg

Yes, that is right! Flamingos coming right for us! When I was little this was probably one of my favorite animals (the penguin being the other). They were just walking around with 2 trainers. Not sure where they were going but it was odd. They were just like kids walking down a hallway following each other.

I decided we would hit the first Sea Lion show of the day so we headed over that way.

106_0950.jpg

106_0951.jpg

106_0952.jpg

106_0955.jpg

106_0958.jpg

It was pretty cute. I can't remember what it was last time we saw it as it has been a few years but it seemed vaguely familiar. I remember years ago they did a Wizard of Oz one and it was so cute!

After the Sea Lions we walked back quickly by the viewing area.

106_0960.jpg

And then headed to the sharks. Dallas is interesting because he has learned what fear is and he loves sharks and dinosaurs yet is kind of afraid of both of them now. He was really excited to go in and see them but not fond of them swimming over our heads.

106_0962.jpg

Up next was the alligators. He was anxious to find them. By this time I felt like I had walked back and forth across this park 10x. We walked by the dolphin petting area.

106_0963.jpg

106_0964.jpg

And found the alligators. They weren't that impressive honestly and quite hard to see because of the way it was laid out.

106_0965.jpg

They are right next to the manatees and it was feeding time. They were eating lettuce.

106_0966.jpg

106_0971.jpg

By this time it was almost noon and time to go on our penguin tour. It was still kind of quiet in the park but by the time we came out of the tour there suddenly were people everywhere!

What Sea World's have you been to? I have only been to Ohio and Florida. I think we'll hit San Diego on our next trip though. I have a whole trip planned without setting foot in DL! :scared1:

So we met our guide at the spot and he started promptly! There were 12 of us all together! 5 in one family (with 2 screaming toddlers who were annoying) and then a couple and another child and mother besides us. Our guide took us back into the exhibit and talked about the penguins for a bit.

106_0973.jpg

Then we went around the back area and he showed us through some windows what was inside. Offices and such. Kind of interesting because then he took us inside. He could have just talked about them from the inside. The two toddlers fine as long as the parents were holding them but for some reason they kept trying to put them back in the stroller and they would start screaming all over again. Thank goodness it was time they had to park the stroller! We went inside and they split us into two groups. We got the girl and mom. Yeah! No screaming toddlers. They took us into pet the penguin first. This was a king penguin and he was so cute.

106_0976.jpg

I totally forget his name though and wish I remembered!

106_0977.jpg

I have probably never touched more then 2 animals in my life (if that many) but I was happy to touch him. He just stood and posed.

106_0978.jpg

106_0979-1.jpg

We all didn't really know how long we would be in there or much so we all petted quickly then the kids did it again. I wish I had taken more time and had Dallas look at the camera and gotten a good picture. But I just wasn't sure! I did take the other ladies picture for her since the kid didn't do such a great job at it! Why am I telling you this! Because next time you are at disney offer take someones picture for them. It make their day! Especially if it is me!

We were right inside the exhibit but it is gated off so the other penguins can't come out of course. These were all taken inside.

106_0980.jpg

106_0981.jpg

106_0982.jpg

Once we finished up in there the penguin tried to follow us out. The lady said that he thought he was just like a human and always tried to get out!

It was alot of fun. We then switched with the other family and went to see the puffin.

106_0985.jpg

This one we could not pet. The guy said he was too delicate to pet. He had left a gift on the floor and the kids thought it was funny. He was just walking around loose in an office.

106_0986.jpg

106_0987.jpg

Dallas really enjoyed listening to him talk. He told us how he had taken him to NY the week before and they just put them on the airplane with them in a carrier. They do buy a seat for them usually and hook them in. I guess Sea World does alot of promotions where they take penguins on tour. There were a couple others they showed us too that they take but for some reason I didn't take a picture. A more regular penguin. I have NEVER seen a penguin unless at a zoo, aquarium or Sea World!

106_0989.jpg

106_0991.jpg

106_0992.jpg

This last guy was our guide. The other guy holding the penguin was a trainer or pet care person or whatever you would call him. He worked with the actual penguins where the guide did not.

106_0993.jpg

One thing that they said and I found interesting was how sometimes the parents won't be doing a good job taking care of the baby so they take him out and take care of them. Well at night they actually take the baby chick home with them. How cool would that be! And of course it didn't help that they told us that since Dallas is always asking for penguin. I told him they just can't live in a house but stories like this aren't good for a 6 year old to hear!

What Sea World's have you been to? I have only been to Ohio and Florida. I think we'll hit San Diego on our next trip though. I have a whole trip planned without setting foot in DL! :scared1:

I've only been to San Diego...I've been there twice and love it. I love Marine life. If they could incorporate swimming with dolphins into Disney...I'd be in heaven (I don't want to go in the tank at Epcot though). The last time we swam with dolphins- we got to do it in the open ocean in Curacao. It was amazing. We designed Aisling's whole nursery around two pictures of Randy and I with dolphins.

Thanks for the update. Glad you share my clothing pet peeves. I also get annoyed when people go to Disney in non-Disney themed clothing. Seriously, the Disney Store has princess t's for $3...go get some before your trip.

I love the Fantasia shirts and the people shirts! They are amazing! I wish you had come with the girls at DHS! I can't believe everyone ran into you but me! :sad1: I didn't even know there was miniature golf at Disneyworld! Wasn't the weather gorgeous that day? DHS was a bit crowded. Sea World looks fun! We've only been to the one in San Diego. Mike saw that picture of Lin and Dallas sleeping and he is jealous that they can nap like that.

After the tour we were hungry so ate at Sea Fire Grill! It was delicious and not that bad price wise for what you get. It was so nice to not eat disney food.

Then onto the big tower thing that turns. Don't you love my professional names for all these things! This thing took forever it seemed while standing in line. Of course once on it time flew.

106_0994.jpg

106_0995.jpg

106_0996.jpg

It was really nice to see everything from so high up. It had been closed earlier in the day due to the winds so glad we got a chance to go up.

Dallas had been asking to go on the water ride. So over that way we went.

There was no wait and it was alot of fun. It is the first time I have ever been on it. Of couse the people squirting water at the end ruin the ride. It wasn't a hot day by any means and by then it was starting to cool off and was later. Atleast it wasn't nearly as bad as the one at US IOA. That thing soaks you at the end!

106_1000.jpg

Lin and Dallas went again and I took pictures.

106_1001.jpg

They are the last ones in this boat.

106_1002.jpg

Dallas has wanted to buy a penguin all day so we went back by for him to pick out what he wanted. Thank goodness he is a pretty good kid and doesn't ask for much and I knew he would love the penguin. It also was fairly cheap.

106_1004.jpg

We went back in to look at the penguins again.

106_1006.jpg

Seen enough penguins yet?

106_1007.jpg

We were headed at this point over to the kids area of the park. We went via the back past the clydesdales. Dallas could have cared less about petting one so we just walked through. Lin decided he would have a beer. I can't really complain. He has maybe 3 a year! I was disappointed to find out they were no longer free but for $2 it made him happy and will keep him satisfied for the next 9 months! Dallas and I shared a pudding and he wanted picture taken by the waterfall.

106_1008.jpg

The we continued over to the kiddie area and hit the rollercoaster first.

106_1009.jpg

106_1012.jpg

Then of course Dallas wanted to go in the HUGE climbing thing so silly me agreed to go! I was darn tired and worn out and we weren't in the thing longer then 10 minutes. I wish somehow the area was fenced in so there was only one entrance and one exit, not into the play structure but into the area. There is no way that he can just go alone. Sorry no pictures. Lin took that time to nap at a table.

On to another ride.

106_1013.jpg

106_1015.jpg

There were quite a few more rides in there and it seemed really nice. Dallas didn't want to ride them until it was time to leave. He chose climbing instead. I really wanted to see the polar bears since last trip we skipped them. Of course it was years ago, but still.

We zipped over because the last Shamu show was at 5:30. There were only 2 all day and it was 5 as it was.

We watched the movie, the non cool one because the other line was too long and then zipped through the displays. Literally just stopped long enough to find the animals. I wasn't impressed with the polar bears but hard when I am comparing it to the San Diego Zoo (although I was not impressed overall with that). It just seemed so dark.

We thought the Shamu show would be crowded but we were totally wrong! It was about 1/2 full. We went to the top again, our favorite spot!

106_1021.jpg

106_1022.jpg

106_1023.jpg

Now, I have decided that not feeling so great must have made me off because I was less then impressed with this show too! Don't get me wrong, I loved our day at Sea World and it was my favorite day but the show was just not that great. Last time they didn't have a show because they had just had a baby which seems to be the story of my life.

Anyways, we had a great day and LOVED it!

106_1026.jpg

106_1027.jpg

Here is a picture of Dallas with all his penguins tucked in.

I can't wait to go to the one in San Diego. I have this fascination with Sesame Street characters and really wanted to go in May after they added a big SS area. We could have but it would have made for too many park days and I like non park days. Next time I really want to go.

Uh, you know that at Sea World you can swim with the dolphins right? It is called Discovery Cove (so not really at SW, they own it and it is across the street) and quite pricey but I hear well worth it. I don't have much desire to do that for some reason. On our cruises we have never done it. I am just not a touch an animal person. I don't like many animals but I love sea animals. I always wanted to study marine biology for some reason. I also fell in love with the movie Free Willy!

Thanks for the compliments! I could hang them up here in the house and look at them. I know that is odd but they are my favorites.

I know, I literally saw everyone but you! The weather was gorgeous!

Yes, 3 miniature golf course and a somewhat 4th. 2 at Blizzard Beach, one winter and one summer and then 2 by the swan and dolphin. The one is like a mini golf course the guy told us but played with a putter still. They said it takes about an hour and a half to complete. More like real greens. If you looked in your coupon book that I assume you got it had a bogo coupon.

We wasted our free 5x7 picture because we never went back into a park after monday. I was super sad.

It kind of annoys me that Dallas and Lin will sleep anywhere. I am exhausted and they'll stop and refresh and be ready to go when I didn't get rest!

Ya i know about Discovery Cove...but that would require me getting a rental car and leaving Disney property :scared1:

So, do I finish this up or go and sew something? I am so close to the end!

Depends...what are you sewing????

Okay! I thought you had to know about it! A car for a day wouldn't be much. I don't know if I could just stay on disney property for a week without going out of it. It is nice sometimes, but I like to do other things too.

Jedi mickey. Boring! I did all but his robe and hand. I'll go finish him up in a minute.

Hi Jess! i had a lot of catching up to do!! First I loved that you all played golf! I know we won't be able to fit it in. How cool that they give you a golfball at the end!

Loved hearing about the photoshoot and haircut! Are you going to post those pics? Lin looks so handsome! Love the matching shirts you wore shopping...they were adorable!

Great day at Sea World....nice that it wasnt super crowded. Those penguins were so cute. How nice that you got to pet them! I love the Shamu show...I vaguely remember it from Dec 1998. it was kind of rainy when we watched it. Very impressed that you rode the log flume ride! What a long day though...you must have been dragging yourselves back to the hotel. Dallas looks so cute sleeping with all of this penguins. He really is a super sweet special little guy! I really liked meeting all of you!

Looking forward to more!

Day 7 (I think)

I can't remember much of what we did this day. It must have not been alot. I dressed Dallas in his Chip shirt! This will be the first time in a LONG time that we did not hit the campfire.

106_1033.jpg

I guess in the morning we sat around and did nothing. Lin took Dallas swimming in the afternoon while I rested. And then we went to Downtown Disney that evening. I know I wanted to go in the morning when it is far less crowded but just never felt up to it. We almost didn't go at all.

Our first stop was the lego store. I decided go ahead and get that over with so hopefully Dallas would be a good shopper after that. Lin took a few pictures because Dallas loves legos and loves to look at pictures!

106_1034.jpg

106_1037.jpg

106_1039.jpg

Anyone that knows me knows we need NO more legos! But I figured I would let him pick out something small. He first wanted a bionicle (which we literally have more then 50 of). I figured whatever since I am constantly saying no to him at the store. But then the power miners with rock monsters were right next to them and he decided to get them. He tried for big sets of course and I was like no way! He picked out a star wars set that was only $300! Nope, not gonna happen! So he got 3 small Power Miners and was happy.

106_1040.jpg

Next we went towards Goofy's Candy Co. I had told him earlier in the week he could make something. I don't think he thought it was as cool as I was trying to make it out to be.

106_1041.jpg

106_1043.jpg

We filled out the little form as to what he would make.

106_1044.jpg

106_1045.jpg

106_1046.jpg

106_1047.jpg

106_1048.jpg

106_1050.jpg

He chose an oreo cookie with reeces pieces and chocolate. It was supposed to also have chocolate drizzled across the top but the lady never did it. She looked less then thrilled honestly and she wasn't even busy!

106_1056.jpg

He ate about 3 bites. I should have just let him get the tube filled with sugar or whatever like he had seen other places. Oh well!

We left after this since I didn't feel like looking at anything else. We actually walked in TRex and Dallas was not fond of it and also I went in the art of disney while they sat and people watched. Short trip to Downtown Disney this trip.

Day 8 - the last day before we leave

What a most exciting day this was! So exciting I never even took the camera out! Lin wanted to find he tigerdirect outlet store. He loves computers and this was a big deal for him. I said fine. I guess there are two, one in Altemonte Springs and one by the Florida Mall. The Florida Mall was closer so he chose that one. There was horrible traffic in the middle of the afternoon and I just remember being car sick most of the ride.

Once we got there it was just an old CompUSA with not so great prices. He was so disappointed and I was annoyed. We have gotten better deals at walmart!

He looked around for a short time and then we left. I really wanted subway. I hadn't eaten much the past 2-3 days. BTW, after Sea World we went to the food court so I could get my turkey. It was so good and one of the few things that I even thought tasted good the last half of the vacation. We hit subway on the way back. I sent Lin and Dallas in telling them I want a turkey sub on white with lettuce and provolone cheese. A footlong. Easy enough right! I told him to get Dallas the SAME thing but no lettuce!

They come out and the sandwiches were warm. I thought at first just his and Dallas cuz why would he have mine toasted. I ask and he says yep, got them all toasted. YUCK is all I can say! I was so looking forward to this and so upset over it! I know it was a little thing but I was so hungry!

We went back to the room and ate. It was not good! Oh and he got Dallas a 6 inch. I know, but you see the kid will eat the whole thing and I would eat the leftovers later! For $1 more get another half of a sandwich. Oh well!

BTW, Dallas had on his Roger Rabbit shirt and I really wanted a picture of him by the big RR. But we never made it! I napped and Lin took Dallas to play golf. This time at the pirate place out the back entrance. Dallas' request. They ate McD's before coming back. I think I just never ate. I did pack everything up in suitcases while they were out.

We went to bed fairly early. Fun and exciting day wasn't it! We went that morning and changed our 7 day tickets to non expiring. We had only used 3 days and I hated wasting the rest or paying that much for 3 days. I know it isn't a big difference but you see we had 4 days of tickets left. I thought we would go into a park many more days but being sick I just wasn't interested. It was a deal in my eyes though, $110 more and we get 4 more days.

Day 9 - Saturday

We woke up and Lin took Dallas down for breakfast. He wanted some Mickey waffles and bacon. I stayed in the room sleeping. I then packed the car. Lin just can't get it all in like I do. Then we left! I was so ready to be home.

I slept the first 5 hours in the car! Yep, you read that right! 5 HOURS! Dallas slept for 2-3. We used to be able to get him to sleep the whole 7 1/2 home. IF he was sleeping we didn't stop to eat or gas up! You can just make it on one tank if you start super full as in Lin overstuffs the gas!

I was glad to be home but sad the week was over kind of. I wish it had been a better vacation but I am so glad I got to enjoy the beginning and the disboutiquers meet part of it! I hope we can do it because I just loved everyone and Dallas loved playing with the kids.

Thanks for coming along!

Oh I almost forgot. I'll upload a few of the photoshoot pictures! It was alot of fun. Lin looks so much better with hair cut.

Oddly enough we hardly ever play golf around here. In fact we have only gone once but Dallas just loves it! We try and do it on vacation but it is hard to fit everything in. I like to relax on vacation too!

Petting the penguins was the best. He is my little penguin boy! I wish I had a penguin shirt made for the day but it was too last minute.

We LOVED meeting you and hope you'll do it again! And Alice too but she has to join in the fun this time!

Here are some from the photoshoot!

I learned a few things! Never do all black shirts. Lin's looks brown in half of them. Dallas' shows grease stains. He had just put it on but I just cannot get them out ever and all our shorts look horrible! It really was last minute and I didn't feel the greatest but still wanted it done.

It was sad that the week before was so cold. So many of the flowers had been hurt or ruined because of the frost.

DisneyPhotoImage33.jpg

The wind was blowing like crazy! You'll see that in several pictures.

Jeanne made me the beautiful bracelet! Thanks Jeanne!

I never wear sunglasses or squint but I just couldn't keep my eyes open this day. I don't even ask for Lin or Dallas to take them off anymore.

DisneyPhotoImage54.jpg

It was fun but I wish we took better pictures. It was my fault with the clothes and what not though.

The guy was perfect. We were unsure whether you should tip or not for this. Suggestions? Do you tip a photographer?

Next time I would prefer the Beach Club but it was so last minute and this was the phone # I found first.
