For those of you who haven't already heard...
The 2005 Pin cruise will be a
"Stitch on the High Seas" theme!

I was really looking forward to going
next year since I had to cancel this year! But...

Why oh why is everything now STITCH?????
An entire cruise will be ruined next year!
I guess I'm just going to have to book a different
cruise next year! I won't be wasting my time going
on a pin cruise to be doused with a single little
blue character! Stitch seems to be becoming the Mickey
of the new Millenium! Walt didn't create Stitch!
Stitch doesn't represent Disney to me!
Give me a break! Enough already... he's on every
pin, he's now taking over an entire ship! This
is madness! The sick thing is Disney knows he
is a huge money maker... and they are capitalizing
on it BIG TIME!
No, I'm not holding my breath for a Pluto
Cruise... I know that'll never happen...
but WHY STITCH!

Thoughts?
Comments?
Flinging tomatoes?

I am not sure how I feel about the cruise theme....

For the first time, DH and I talked about possibly going next year. I wouldn't have wanted to do our first cruise with a theme that doesn't appeal to us -- and this year's villians cruise would certainly not have been our pick.

I like Lilo & Stitch, although I like Lilo and Pleakley more than Stitch. But I do agree that we are being inundated with that little blue guy. I don't know if I could handle a cruise full of him.

I also am not a big fan of mixing characters from different movies/themes/stories. A group of princesses or villians sometimes works for me. But when I see one of these pins where Stitch has been inserted into an otherwise normal Beauty and the Beast pin, I'm just not interested. If that's the tone of the 2005 cruise event pins, I will not be happy.

On the other hand, I'll probably never actually go on the cruise, so it may not be my problem.

Given the fact that I don't collect Stitch, I whole heartedly agree...when did Stitch become representative of everything Disney? I am told that Stitch was recently made the "mascot" of MGM, but with the "symbol" of MGM being the Sorcerer's Hat, wouldn't it make sense that Sorcerer Mickey be the "mascot"?

The pin cruises have always had a theme, but even still, they have always had a nice assortment of characters and scenes so that there were pins that appealed to a broad group of collectors. But I agree with RobYn...in general I don't like a pin with unrelated characters on it. So, cruise themed pins with different Disney characters and Stitch just don't make any sense to me (and yes, I recognize that we are criticizing pins that probably haven't even been designed yet). But look at the Spectacle of Lights pins as an example. Stitch is on every one with other characters. Why not just make a Stitch Spectacle of Lights pin w/o the other characters? My answer is that the merchandising people see that Stitch is popular and believe they will sell more pins if he is on them. I think they should have designed pins with different characters that would appeal to a wide range of collectors. I won't be getting any Spectacle of Lights pins this year.

when did Stitch become representative of everything Disney?
I think its because all his pin sell out each time. Like it or not, some of the other character pins can sit for weeks with ever having a chance to sell out. Disney is going with the hot thing and Stitch is it. I'm surprised this years cruise wasn't Stitch. He could be out by next November.
