Disappointed with WPE!

OK, I never thought I would be saying this....

last weekend, we went to WPE twice and I was a little bit disappointed in the food. The service was awesome, as usual. But the mac and cheese was WAY off, and some of the other dishes tasted different as well.

In fact, the mac and cheese tasted SO off that I had to ask our great server, Ranphy, about it. We had just visited WPE in September, and the mac was definitely better (and different!) then. He told us that the great man himself, Wolfgang, had just visited that location a couple of weeks ago. He radically changed several of the dishes, including the mac and cheese. Ranphy told us that they had been getting lots of negative feedback on the changes, but what could they do...it's Wolfgang's place after all. He graciously brought me a different side dish, though.

I filled out a comment card praising the staff (altho sadly it was CJ's last day there!!), and asking for the old mac and cheese.

I was happy that the butternut squash soup remained unchanged.

It is nice seeing I am not the only one who had that reaction but I was there in August and my problem was soggy pizza with dry chicken.

It's my understanding that Wolfgang only has his name on these places, they're owned and run by Levys Restaurants. I do hope he fixed the pizza though.

I didn't like the Mac & Cheese when I had it in August, maybe now I'll like it! :rotfl:

And to TDC Nala's point: I thought it was that Wolfgang Puck Cafe, the sitdown restaurant is owned by his wife (or rather ex-wife.) It's only his name on that one. But on the Express Cafe's, he actually has a hand in them. I could be wrong, but that's the way I understand it...

...and I'm off to wikipedia because now I'm curious

Edit: it wasn't on wikipedia  So this is what I found...Levy owns Wolfgang Puck Cafe, but works "with Wolfgang:" http://www.levyrestaurants.com/Levy/AboutLevy/NewsRoom/LevyInTheNews/NRN.htm I didn't find anything about the Express Cafes except that they are franchised...so who knows...

I thought the pizza was awful also, but loved the Spaghetti and meatballs when I was there.
For 1 CS it is hard to complain.
If I was paying OOP I would not be happy at all.

As for the two WPE's in Disney, the one in the marketplace is independently owned.
That is why the one in marketplace has a better menu.

This is what I was told by the staff at the WPE Westside that has a limited menu.
As for who owns them I have no idea.

I had pizza this time and I thought it was delicious! :rotfl:

...but I love thin crust, greasy pizza (it was greasy!)

actually, I still like their pizza (I don't think they changed it), but the mac and cheese was GROSS....dried out and greasy. And they even used different pasta for it.

The server told me they also changed some of the salads (not the chinois) and sandwiches, but I can't remember which ones, b/c they weren't anything that I usually order.
